Vacation 2013

View from our cabin the night we arrived

We spent just under a week in a cabin nestled in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
While I don't want to admit this (hello Mic),
the place was gorgeous and we had a beautiful view of Mt. Leconte.
While I still prefer the beach, it was a very relaxing setting and it was just what we needed after the crazy year we have been having.
Another thing that was relaxing....X wasn't with us.
I missed that little guy like crazy, but we so needed a break.
Thank God for our wonderful parents who took turns watching X last week while we were gone.
We couldn't have done it without you! (Hi Mom)

Our time in the smokies was a little different than we had planned.
Due to the government shutdown, all the national parks are closed.
Meaning, we could not visit the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are definitely geared towards families so there is plenty to do,
but we were just looking for something a little more peaceful or adventurous.

Between Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg we had plenty of shopping and dining options though.
Oh my goodness did we eat last week!
I'm too scared to weigh myself, but I am sure I packed on the lbs!
We also shopped much more than we intended to do on this trip,
but almost everything I purchased is for Christmas gifts.

We started our first morning off at Flapjack's.

After walking around Gatlinburg for a better part of the day,
we decided to make it a low key evening and stop for some pizza.

Of course Mic and I each ordered our own "small" pizza since we don't like the same toppings.
We didn't realize the small was a 14" pizza!
At least we had plenty of leftovers for lunch :)

Our little home away from home in Sevierville.
Would totally recommend these cabins to everyone!

We had a river view table in the corner for our anniversary dinner.
It was so calm and beautiful.
