Keepin' Things Weird

Friday, March 31, 2017

Oh Friday, I am so happy you are finally here :)

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for...

This week started off weird and just never quick!
I recapped the Good & Bad of our weekend on Monday :)
Examples:
Enjoying my favorite frozen custard shop opening up locally

Followed by discovering that someone stole our mailbox right off the post :(

While chickens aren't my favorite, there are worse things you could be stuck waiting to cross the road ;)

On Tuesday I shared some of my very favorite photos in my Show & Tell post :)
And then headed to Erie, PA for a work meeting with Mic.
We tried a place called 28 North in downtown Erie and it was really good!

We ordered WAY TOO MUCH food!
Fried risotto balls with marinara,

Because we ordered a couple of tacos to try, our waiter brought out homemade chips and salsa.
OH MY GOODNESS these were amazing!
These were definitely my favorite part of the meal they were THAT good!

We left the restaurant completely stuffed!
It was so gloomy the entire evening, but it truly is a beautiful setting.

Our workshop let out early and the weather was gorgeous!
I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it, but we couldn't wait to get back home to our favorite little guy :)

I also linked up with Shay, Mel & Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday and shared all of our favorite things from the month of March and what we are looking forward to in April :)

In typical Friday Favorites fashion, I found these gems on my favorite form of social media :)

I did see these cereals in Target but I just wasn't sure if I would eat it.
Have you tried them yet?
What are your thoughts?

I spent way too much time at one of my least favorite places - the dentist, this week :(
Unfortunately, my back molar cracked a few weeks ago and I went in to get it fixed.
Things did not go as planned and I keep having to go back :(
I have one more appointment in a few weeks and I am praying things go well so I don't have to go back for a bit!
Do you enjoy going to the dentist?
Oh, those sounds that you hear just creep me out!
And the pain I am currently in from the novacaine is not my favorite either :(

Last night X and I headed to our favorite spot to pick out a birthday gift for a little girl in his class.
I was shocked at first that he wanted to go to her party,
but then quickly realized he mainly wants to go because it is at one of his favorite places - Chuck E Cheese :)

I have no clue how to shop for a little girl!
With a couple of ideas from her mom we grabbed this coloring and sticker kit, along with a stuffed little dog that X picked out.
Fingers crossed she likes it!

While I am thankful it is Friday and this week is over,
this weekend is super busy!
I have an event to attend tonight up north,
followed by that birthday party I mentioned above in the morning Saturday,
and then dinner with friends that evening.
But things could be worse right?
That is what I am going with :)

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
And good luck staying away from the tricksters on April 1st!

Linking up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

What we're eating this week...
This week is super busy, so I am making things that will easily carry over for an additional day or two :)
Tacos
Kaluska (cabbage & noodles) and smoked sausage

And we have plans to go out to eat with friends later this week :)

What I'm reminiscing about...
My high school days :)
My 20th high school reunion is happening this summer!
Sometimes it is hard to imagine I have been out of high school for that long,
and other days it seems like it was truly a lifetime ago.

What I'm loving...
All the Blogilates videos on YouTube!
I have been doing different ones every night and I truly love them!

What we've been up to...
Working on plans for remodeling our house!
We are hoping to start things next Spring so we need to get things in order to move forward :)
It is so exciting!

What I'm dreading...
Just how full our plates are over the next month.
But it could be worse, so I am keeping my head up!

What I'm working on...
Figuring out who is going to watch X this summer when school lets out :/
Any suggestions local peeps?

What I'm excited about...
I hate to sound like a broken record, but Disney World!

We are just over a month away and I keep getting more excited every day!
Our luggage tags have arrived and we just finalized our magic bands :) :)

What I'm watching/reading...
We were without our satellite for about a week this month :( so I have watched a few more episodes of Gossip Girl on Netflix.
We are also watching some Disney movies to prepare for our upcoming trip.
I am keeping up with The Voice this season, recording a lot of shows that I never actually get to watch,
and tuning into March Madness when I get a chance :)

What I'm listening to...
The Voice while I am working ;)
Because we were without service, I have been listening to the battle rounds on my phone while I am working :)

What I'm wearing...
While the weather has been pretty nice this past week, in can change in the blink of an eye in Ohio.
Most days I start off with winter like attire and then peel off layers as the day goes on :/
I did receive a couple Stitch Fix boxes this past month and have been trying to add those pieces in as well :)

What I'm doing this weekend...
I am surprising someone this weekend so I can't share in case she reads this, so check the blog next week :)
We have a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese for one of X's girl friend's at school,
and then dinner plans with friends :)
Busy weekend for sure!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Going to a fundraiser that has duck races, Easter, Spring soccer starts,
and Pretty Little Liars is back on April 18th for its final season!
I can't wait!

What else is new...
X lost his first tooth!
And there is a second one that could fall out any day now.
He is growing up so fast!

Bonus Question: What's your favorite Spring wardrobe piece?
Honestly it is pretty much my favorite year round piece.
My denim jacket that Sheaffer told me to get ;)
I have worn denim jackets for years.
So when she pointed this one out a few years ago I immediately picked it up!
And I wear it all the time!
It just goes with everything - from work to fun :)

Linking up with Andrea @ Momfessionals for...

Today we are sharing our Top 5 or possibly 10 photos :)
This is much harder than it sounds.
I have a ton of pictures that I feel are my absolute favorites!
To narrow it down is almost impossible!
Since I don't have all my photos on my computer I am narrowing it down to a certain time frame :)
Basically the last 5 years with the exception of this first photo.

October 7, 2006
I love this photo for so many reasons!
It was our wedding day and I am standing with the guy I love.
It was a beautiful Fall day in October.
Our wedding featured all of my favorite colors.
But the biggest reason I love this photo is that it was taken at the beach/park I grew up going to as a child/teenager.
It holds so many memories for me, so I was over the moon that I was able to have our wedding pictures taken there :)

I am pretty sure every mom who links up today will have some sort of picture from when their kids were born :)
This is my little cutie just 2 days old :)
We didn't get fancy newborn photos, but I just loved how cute and simple these ones were from the hospital.
This may also be the only time X has ever been calm! lol!

Taking X to training camp for the Cleveland Browns for the first time was definitely a surreal moment for me.
I grew up go to training camp with my dad and going to the games.
I couldn't wait to start this tradition with X!
And the fact that he was just so happy and smiley while we were there made it even better!

The next two were from X's One year session with the fabulous Christy Rice!
They both capture his personality so well!

Christy took this photo as well when X turned two, and it quite possibly is my favorite picture ever!
The colors, standing on a train with my guys, all of it just makes me smile from ear to ear :)

Taking this cutie back to my high school was everything to me.
The place where I grew up.
The place that shaped me in so many ways.
The place that I will always call home.
They have now built a new school and moved all the grades around, so I was so happy to bring X and Mic back to my school before they made the switch.
Seeing him run around on the court after the game having so much fun just made my day!

I can't choose between the next two pictures.
That kid was beaming all day at his 5th birthday party!
He still tells me this was his best day ever!

While this picture doesn't seem like much, it means a lot to me.
This particular Christmas Eve service was so special because X wanted to be there and take part in the service.
He even went up front during the children's portion of the service and participated :)
I was so proud of him!

And honorable mention goes to this photo that I took with my phone just this past Fall.
I love the color of the leaves, the blurriness of it, and the artsy feel of the leaves on the ground :)

I can't wait to see what are your favorite photos are!
If you don't blog, tell me below what you like best..professional, candids, etc. :)

The Good & Bad + A Giveaway

Monday, March 27, 2017

Happy Monday!
This weekend was all over the place for us.

On Friday evening Mic and X enjoyed the nice weather and picked up sticks around the property.
Well, Mic did that while X tried to move these logs :)

Meanwhile, I headed out to pick up some fried chicken for dinner and made a pit stop at a new custard joint.
If you live anywhere in the Columbus, Ohio area and haven't tried Whit's get there now!
It is SO GOOD!
We were introduced to it years ago, and I am over the moon that we finally have one in our small town!
Official opening is March 31st, but I had heard they were doing a soft opening and couldn't pass up a chance to enjoy it early :)
I got my usual chocolate with rainbow sprinkles #becauseiamreallyafiveyearold
and picked up some Sea Salt Caramel to bring home for Mic.
I see many trips to Whit's in our future this summer :)

After eating dinner we headed back outside for a bit and Mic found the problem to our satellite issue.
We have been without service for a week :(
Well an animal decided that cord was tasty and chewed right through it!
Thankfully Mic was able to fix the issue and by Saturday we were back in business :)

Saturday morning Mic and I headed into the office to catch up on some work,
and then we parted ways so I could run some errands while he picked up X from my in-laws.
We both arrived home about the same time (4:30pm ish).
As I stopped to grab our mail from the day something looked weird to me.
Our mailbox was gone!
Ripped right off of the wooden post!
We live in the country, so we looked around in the brush and such and it was just gone.
There were no tire tracks or damage to other mailboxes around it either.
This guy was super sad because he didn't know how he would get another Lego magazine without a mailbox :(

We filed a police report with the Sheriff's office and had to leave it at that :(

UPDATE!!!
We were able to confirm with our mail carrier this morning that our box was missing when she came down our road on Saturday.
Meaning no mail was taken! YEH!
And she also confirmed that along her route there were other homes that had the mailboxes bashed in and such.
While she didn't see any others actually missing, it does make me feel better to know we weren't targeted by someone.

In other news, we have been trying to watch more Disney movies to get ready for our trip.
We watched the original Beauty & the Beast with X and it was cute.
Honestly, it was my very first time ever watching it!
X seemed to really like it and I kept pointing out all the things we would have to look for when we eat at Be Our Guest :)

Now some of you may disagree with the next movie, but we watched Avatar too.
Mic and I have watched it before and thought it was OK for X to see.
The Avatar section of Animal Kingdom is scheduled to open after we visit Disney World,
but just in case we get a sneak peek or experience a soft opening we will be ready ;)

On Sunday we finally got most of our house cleaned up before relaxing and hanging out with my dad and step mom.
We ate pizza, looked at vacation photos, and just enjoyed them being there.
So relaxed and enjoyable that I never took a single picture.

They left and it was time to get things ready for the new week.

What did you do this weekend?
What other Disney movies should we watch before our trip?

Oh, and if you are local (Ohio) don't forget to enter the giveaway below!
