Blueberry Croissant Puff

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

Last year on Christmas morning we woke up to breakfast in the crock pot.
We couldn't wait to eat it, but it ended up being horrible! :(
This year I decided to try another new recipe, but leave the slow cooker out of the mix.
It was delicious!!!
I was doing what most people do when looking for a new recipe - searched Pinterest.
Our family has been on a blueberry kick recently so I knew that was going to be a key ingredient for our breakfast.
Boy oh boy did I find a winner!

Breakfast
Original recipe found here

That photo doesn't do this stuff justice!
Mic went back for seconds people it was amazing!

In a 9x9 oven safe dish tear apart 3 large croissants.
Then pour a cup of fresh blueberries over top.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine 1 softened package of cream cheese, 2/3 cup sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp vanilla and mix well.
Add 1 cup of milk slowly until completely combined.
Pour mixture over croissants and blueberries and let sit for about 15-20 minutes.
Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350*.
Serve warm with powdered sugar on top.
ENJOY! And believe me, you will enjoy it :)

Christmas 2014

Monday, December 29, 2014

While I am ready to be back to the daily routine, I am not ready to be back.
I have been off since Christmas Eve and it was fantastic!
We woke up Christmas Eve morning and decided to get our gingerbread house built.
Doing this with a 3 year old was rough! On top of that a few of the pieces were missing :(
And you are probably supposed to let the house "set up" before adding the decor, but X wanted to keep moving. So we did.
We did the best we could....X loved it!
He couldn't wait to show everyone that walked into our house his creation :)
Toddler built

After what felt like forever building that house (literally it was like 20 minutes), I finished wrapping our presents, X took a nap, and then we were off to my in-laws house for dinner.
treats, snacks, holidays
Super easy treat! I will post the recipe next week :)

I love these Christmas dishes that my MIL has!
It is every verse of Twas the night before Christmas :)
dinner plates, holidays

We headed home and opened our Christmas Eve present.
New pj's for the fam, and a new movie to watch!
Can you believe this is the first time any of us have watched Frozen?
I think we all loved it!
In fact, we have watched it at least once every day since Christmas Eve! lol!
X already knows some of the words to the songs too! :)
pj's, hot cocoa, movies, frozen

Christmas morning I made a yummy Blueberry Croissant Puff for breakfast :)
Once that was in the oven it was time for X to see what Santa brought him!
the grinch, coffee, quiet, fire
The calm before the storm :)
breakfast, blueberries, cream cheese, croissants
Recipe to come next week :)

Of course he wanted everything put together the second he opened it :(

christmas morning 2014

old school, christmas morning 2014

When we were done it was time to clean up, set the table, and get ready for round 3 of Christmas with my family.
My parents and brother came down to my house this year.
From my table set up you can tell I don't host holidays very often.
It was nice to be able to use our wedding china though :)
I think we have broke those babies out a whole 3 times in the last 8 years!

I get requests every year for my homemade pecan pie :)

We enjoyed good food, conversation, and more with everyone over those couple of days!
This boy was most excited about this kitchen my mom got him!
Every day he asks to go play with it :)

Me, my dad, and brother.
Now my mom's turn :)
The only picture we managed to take as a family on Christmas day and it was blurry :(

On Friday morning we awoke to strange things.
X must have had a nose bleed while he was sleeping because he woke up like this..
x-tremely v
Poor baby!
It continued to bleed on and off all day.
On top of that he had some really odd swelling behind his right ear.
Thankfully that went away with a dose of Tylenol.
The whole day was kind of blah since all three of us were still stuffed from eating too much and thoroughly exhausted.

By Saturday I was itching to get out of the house!
I am so not one to be stuck inside for more than a day!
We decided to take a ride and ended up in Coschocton at The Unusual Junction for some lunch.
Of course not before round 2 of weirdness happened.
Things seemed normal when X said "Mommy".
I turned around to find him throwing up all over himself :(
Poor little guy!
He didn't know what was going on since this is the first time he has ever gotten sick! Other than baby spit up anyways.
We pulled over to the side of the road, cleaned him up as good as we could, and looked for the nearest store.
Parent fail = I didn't even think about having an extra set of clothes in the car!
We had to stop at a local Walmart to get X a new shirt and pants to wear! Lesson learned!

Thankfully after eating some pretzels X seemed to feel better :)
We finally made it to Coschocton for lunch and were happy to get out of the car.

The Unusual Junction was definitely unusual!
Autographed items all over, newspaper articles and memorabilia from years and years ago, phones on the table, etc.
The best part to me was that on the big screen they were playing old Flintstones cartoons :)

X kept picking up the phone to call his Uncle Richie :)
He would say "Hello! Good to see you! Goodbye Uncle Richie!" and then "kiss" the phone. SO sweet!!!
The original sign autographed by Bob Barker.

After lunch we headed home for the boys to get haircuts before we watched Frozen again.

Sunday, was back to normal for the most part.
Grocery shopping, watch the Browns lose again, etc.
We did manage to take down all of our Christmas decor except the trees.
That never usually happens before the 1st!

That is seriously the most condensed version I could give of our 5 days off!

How was your Christmas?
Did you host your family or friends?
What did you eat?
There are so many different traditions this time of year.
I would love to hear what yours are :)

Christmas Attire | Family Edition

Wednesday, December 24, 2014

In an ideal world my little fam would be dressed super cute in our Sunday best for all the festivities on Christmas Eve and Day.
However, in the real world we will most likely be wearing some fairly comfy clothes.

So on this What I Wore Wednesday I figured I would feature what we are planning on wearing to celebrate Christmas with our family and friends.

source

Fingers crossed I can get X to keep a cute sweater on :)
He has one similar to the top photo, as well as a red one for Christmas Day.
He won't have his shoes on much, but he has some brown boots to rock with his toggle coat and hat when we are out and about.

Mic has it pretty easy.
Throw on a nice shirt, sweater, jeans, and hat.
Bam! Done! And it looks great!
So jealous!

Since we are hosting Christmas dinner this year, I need to keep things simple while I am running around making dinner, etc.
Layering is going to be key this year!
You can't beat some skinny jeans, an over sized sweater (to hide that food baby), and a scarf!

What are you wearing for the holidays?
Does your family dress up, wear casual clothes, or stay in your pj's all day?

November Ipsy Glam Bag

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

I have been so busy that I totally forgot to post my November Ipsy Glam Bag!
Busy to the fact that I have only tried one of the products and I have already received my December bag!

So when I started this post, I hadn't tried virtually any of it.
I made it my mission to try at least part of the items over the weekend so I could tell you about them.
#thoughtfulblogger :)

I haven't actually tried this one. I mean do you see how dark that baby is?
I have a felling this needs to be reserved for a night out on the town vs. work!

So after I starting writing this post, I went back and tried all the products.
OMG! This stuff is CRAZY dark!
I put a super duper small dot on my lips and they were stained a deep red.
After a bit of scrubbing I was able to remove that hint of color.
Phew, that will be going in the giveaway pile for sure!

I have been wanting to pick up a purple eye liner for awhile now, so this was perfect showing up in my bag.
It has a shimmer to it that gives your eyes an extra pop!
Perfect hazel eyed peeps :)

Love the shade and shimmer of this liner once I tried it out!

I am not a big highlighter person, maybe I should be, so this is just so so for me.
Maybe it is because I don't really know how to use a highlighter.
I will hold onto it though for an evening out.

Are you sensing I need an evening out? lol!

I had already declared my love for the Marc Anthony Beach Waves Spray during the summer, so I had a feeling I was going to like this hairspray the moment I opened my bag. Sure enough I do!
It has a great smell and just the right amount of hold for me.

This shade is perfect for me.
I usually wear browns, creams, etc. so this base goes really well with those.
I haven't tried it for all day wear, but the little bit I used makes me claim this one a keeper!

So what did you receive in your Ipsy bag?

Holiday Fun | Toddler Style

Monday, December 22, 2014

I have loved seeing all the different Christmas traditions my fellow bloggers and friends take part in.
A couple of them really struck a cord with me and I have been waiting impatiently to do them as well :)
This is the first year that X seems to really be into Christmas.
The lights, Santa, the presents, etc.
I can't wait until Christmas morning!
Thankfully (and YIKES!) it is only a few days away!

Friday evening I picked up X like normal and rushed him home for an early shower.
We then changed into our comfy clothes, gathered some drinks & such, picked up a pizza, and headed out on the town to look at Christmas lights!
I loved doing this as a kid, and have waited for the day to do this with X!
We needed to eat dinner, so I figured let's add pizza to the mix to make it extra fun!
christmas light fun

That little face!
X loved looking out the window at the flashing light display. One of the local radio stations sets the lights to music :)

Saturday morning I had plans to finally made a gingerbread house with X while Mic had some office work to do.
Of course, once we woke up plans changed.
Instead, we got ready for the day and headed out to do some last minute Christmas shopping together. Two places was enough for X, so we grabbed some chicken nuggets and called it a morning.
I then headed back out to brave the crowds to finish the rest of the shopping and assist my FIL with his.
Fingers crossed my MIL likes the items I he picked out for her ;)
X declared this the spot to eat his lunch = middle of the hallway ?

Saturday evening I made some homemade goodies to share as gifts, I finally watched a little bit of The Grinch (my favorite Christmas movie), and we called it a night.

Sunday was normal for the most part.
Grocery shopping, watch the Browns, and do some chores around the house.
Nothing too exciting.
Since the Browns game wasn't that fun to watch I took the opportunity to wrap some presents while the guys napped.
I still have half of them left, but at least it was a start!
christmas presents

I finished up the daycare gifts, watched a little bit of the Sound of Music Sing-along and headed to bed :)
sugar scrub, mason jar gifts

I am still hoping to make that gingerbread house with X!
Maybe Christmas Eve morning :)

I can't believe Christmas is only a few days away!!!
Are you ready?
Do you have any special traditions you do on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
I would love to hear about them!
