Favorite Things | Summer Shoes

Monday, June 29, 2015

Even though Ohio truly has all four seasons, I really just have two in my world...
Boot season and Sandal season :)

In the Fall, Winter, and early Spring you usually will see me wearing some form of a boot.
Whether it is a dressy boot for work, a casual boot for the weekends, or some Hunter boots for the rainy/snowy days.

Once things melt away and the temps hit 50 you will see me rockin' some form of sandal.
Wedges, booties, flip-flops, flats, etc.

Today I am linking up with Andrea & Erika for another round of

Today we are talking about our favorite summer shoes.
I really have three types that I wear all summer long.

~one~

I have others, but my go-to flip-flops are always from Old Navy.
They are super cheap and literally come in any color you could possibly need!
They are easy to throw on to head out to the pool, the beach, or just running around.
They are usually under $3 a pair.
For that price you can get them in all of the colors and replace them every single summer!
I have way too many of them, so I just throw them all in a laundry basket in the bottom of my closet.

~two~
I joined Alison over at Get Your Pretty On for the Spring Style Challenge back in 2014 and these next sandals were on the shopping list.
I wear them all the time!
They seriously go with everything and I get so many compliments on them.
Best part?
They are from Target!!!
Even better?
I have the pewter ones, but they also come in black and gold.

~three~
When I am not feeling flats, I turn to wedges.
Again, another suggestion from Alison from the 2015 Style Challenge.

And lucky you, they are still available at Target as well!
I love these shoes!
They are actually really comfortable and go with just about everything I own!
I have them in the cognac color, but they come in black as well.

Now it is your turn!
What are your favorite summer shoes?
Any you can't live without?

Happy Monday!

So I want to be an astronaut

Friday, June 26, 2015

Hey Hey! It's Friday!
Other than being busy at work, this week has been pretty low key.
But there are always some good moments so let's get to it!

Linking up today with

Since it rained on and off on Friday, Mic's plans of mowing the grass were shot.
So we headed over our friend's house to meet their new sweet baby girl and chow down on some pizza :)
This was definitely a favorite moment of mine.
While I am not one for holding babies, I love seeing how it comes so natural to Mic :)

See that title at the top?
Yeah, all about this show right here...
Saturday evening Mic had some work to do, so once X fell asleep I decided to watch The Astronaut Wives Club.
After one episode, I can easily say this is my new favorite show!
So I don't technically want to be an astronaut, but I think it would be so much fun to go back in time for those clothes and the dinner parties!
#oldfashionedgirlatheart

On Sunday, X and I headed north to visit with my dad for Father's Day.
Mic requested alone time to work, so that is what he got :)
Seeing two of my favorite guys love on each other is simply the best!

I probably say this every week, but taking silly selfies with X is always a favorite thing to do!

All this rain has made my in-laws property (our future home) a wet breeding ground for mosquito's :(
#yuck
Thankfully they don't get this guy down!
My favorite face even with a giant bug bite on it!

I talked about some of my favorite and not so favorite things here.
It may or may not involve Starbucks :)

What are your favorite moments of the week?
Are you getting lots of rain or warm sunny days?
If you are getting sunny days....send them to central Ohio please!
Thank you!

Love | Hate | Tag

Thursday, June 25, 2015

Kelly over at Familiar Joy tagged me to join the Love | Hate | Tag game.
(Read her post here)
It is simple really.
State 10 things you love, 10 things you hate, and tag 10 bloggers to join the fun!

Loves

1. Starbucks - Cold, hot, white or red cup..I love them all!

2. Cleveland Browns - read more about my love here and I am starting this one young as well :)

3. Sticky Fingers Wings = Heaven on a plate!

4. Teen Dramas - If it is teen related and a drama I have probably watched it and loved it!

5. French Fries - I love french fries from just about anywhere you can get them!
Well, except Burger King or Arby's.

6. Singing/Dancing/Music - I love all kinds of music and just can't help but dance when I hear a good beat.
I think it is the cheerleader in me ;)

7. The South - What is not to love about the south?
Good food, great beaches, super sweet people, great weather.
The list goes on and on!

8. Cars - I love go to the annual auto shows with Mic and check out the new cars coming out.
I also really like seeing all the old time cars when they take over a Pizza Hut parking lot or something on weekend.

9. Planning themed parties/dinners/etc. - If I could plan a party every month of the year I would!
I love coming up with foods and drinks that fit the theme..all while on a budget of course!

10. Matching - I can't help it. I must match. It just makes me happy :)

Hates

1. Being late - I am with Kelly on this one! If you aren't early, you are late.

2. Being stopped in traffic - enough said

3. Dirty Feet - Walking barefoot creeps me out.
I do it on the beach or around the pool, but you best believe I am washing my feet the second I am able to!
And I must wash my feet before going to bed if I have worn any shoes with out socks (flats, flip-flops).

4. Seafood - Anything that talks in the Little Mermaid is not something I want to eat!

5. Tomatoes/Peppers/Onions - No, no, no!

6. Horror movies/Movies in general - I get terrified of movies just from a quick second of a commercial.
I am seriously the biggest scaredy cat around!
Plus, I just don't like to sit still for the length of a movie.
So unless I am watching it at home I probably won't ever see it.

7. Dunkin Donuts - Did you see my #1 love up there?

8. Pittsburgh Steelers - See #2 above. (Sorry Cari!)

9. Sitting in the back seat of a car - I get car sick so sitting in the back isn't for me.
And depending on the driver, sitting in the passenger seat doesn't work too well for me either!

10. Sticking out - I must blend in as much as possible!
Unique is a word that just makes my skin crawl.
(I am working on getting better with this one and just being myself, but boy is it hard!)

What's Up Wednesday | June

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

How is it the end of the month already?
I mean, didn't I just leave for vacation?
That was June 4th!
Anyway, it is time once again for...

What we're eating this week
For Father's Day I made some fall off the bone ribs and served it up corn on the cob.

What I'm Reminiscing about
Vacation!
(read my recap part 1 & part 2)
Sunny, warm weather.
We returned to higher temps, but rain, Rain, RAIN! :(

What I'm loving
That I can just spray some sea salt spray in my hair in the morning and head out the door to work.
It is much more acceptable to have beachy waves at work in the summer than any other month.
I take full advantage!
This is the one I have been using recently.

What we've been up to
Stressing out over all the things we need to do around our house to get it listed.
At what point do you just stop and say enough is enough?
Any tips, tricks, etc. great appreciated!

What I'm dreading
Not a whole lot really :)
I think I need this shirt!
#LifeisGood

What I'm working on
Getting back to working out.
I have slacked/haven't had time so badly this Spring.
I absolutely love to get a good workout in and am really sad that I haven't been able to find the time.
It is on my to-do list for July!

What I'm excited about
To break out the bounce house for X (please stop rain),
to get Superman ice creams cones just because, to take a walk on the bike trail, and most importantly I am excited about just enjoying the summer!
When you work full-time and have kiddos and it can be tough, but I am going to focus on enjoying the moment more!
#easiersaidthandone

What I'm watching/reading
Pretty Little Liars! The summer season has been so good!
Other than that, I am obsessed with HGTV these days.
Fixer Upper,
Flip or Flop, Property Brothers,
Love it or List it, etc.
I just can't get enough!

What I'm listening to
Still jamming out to Shut up and dance every chance I get!
And after seeing NKOTB/Nelly/TLC in concert last week I have been listening to some throwback jams too :)

What I'm wearing
Our weather has been crazy over the last week.
I went from wearing shorts and tank tops, to jeans and a jacket, to yoga pants and a tee, to shorts again.
#ohiolife

What I'm doing this weekend
Hoping to get the front door painted, catch up on laundry, and we are attending a 1st birthday party.

What I'm looking forward to next month
Cookouts with friends and family!
And praying we start moving to our new home and get our house listed.

What else is new
I am also looking forward to shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary sale in July!
I get some great Christmas gifts for X, Mic, and me ;)

Bonus: What are you doing for the 4th of July?
We are joining some friends for their 3rd annual bash at their house!
(Read about last year here.)
Summer sun, swimming, food, and good company :)
This kid loved being in the pool last year!

So what have you been up to in June?
Any big plans for July?

Savannah | Tybee Island Part 2

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Let's get right into it!
You can read Part 1 here.

Day 6
We practically had the beach to ourselves!
I turned on the radio and X ran around dancing to the music :)

For dinner we hit up our favorite BBQ spot - Sticky Fingers!
Yes, I understand it is a chain...but we don't have it up north, so we stop there whenever we have a chance.
These wings are seriously THE BEST wings I have ever had!

I forgot to add these photos to my Part 1 recap, and I just couldn't leave them out so you get them in random order!

Day 7
The weather showed rain for the afternoon, so we hit the beach for the morning before taking a drive around Savannah.

Rain = not outdoor walking weather
So we headed inside one of the local malls and let X burn off some energy.

The best part about X handing out on the those was that he didn't actually want to ride them!
He just wanted to jump from one to the other to look at them so we didn't spend a dime!

The rain stopped for a bit so we decided to walk around River Street again.
I just love it there!
This is the hotel we stayed in during our honeymoon :)

We decided to have dinner at Molly McGuire's and started off with the hot bread and cheese app.
Oh my!
I might have found my new favorite app!
Who needs chips and salsa when you can have hot bread and cheese?

 Day 8
We decided to skip the beach and head to the Tybee Island Lighthouse.
We actually walked up all 178 winding steps with X.
X actually walked about 10 of those and then wanted carried the rest of the way!
By the time we made it to the top we were a sweaty mess :(

It is a beautiful view from the top...if you aren't terrified of heights!
I quickly took a couple of pics and headed back inside with X to wait for Mic.

After walking all those steps it was time for lunch!
We headed back to Savannah to the Soho South Cafe and I enjoyed a mini Key Lime Pie. #yum

Day 9
Our last day at the beach :(
X didn't want to go to the beach and Mic and I were totally fine not lugging all our stuff back to the beach, so we just headed down to the pool for the day.

Perks of hanging out at the pool is lunch is brought right to your chair.
Drinks too! :)
It's been fun Tybee!

After naps, we cleaned up and got ready for dinner.
Since X and I aren't big seafood fans we ended our week at the ocean with some pasta!

Day 10
We packed up the car Saturday morning and hit the road towards Ohio.
When driving through Virginia you go through two tunnels.
X was so excited to drive through these tunnels and I couldn't wait to beep the horn!
#itsthelittlethings

We knew we were bedding down some where in West Virginia for the night so we stopped at a local steakhouse for dinner.
Have any of you ever ate at a Sagebrush?
Wow was it bad!
Note to self, well Mic, when presented with a chain Vanessa likes or something new...go for the one she likes! ;)
Lonestar was right next door.

This guy traveled really well and had no accidents!
We had to stop for some DQ before bed as a reward :)

In deep thought...

Day 11
We woke up, gassed up the car, grabbed some Starbucks and hit the road for home.
We made it home, unloaded the car, and then hit the road again headed north.
We had a family funeral in the morning :(

The three of use "camped out" in my dad's basement that night.
X loved it!

And on Tuesday everything went back to normal.
Well, as much as it could.

We had a great time getting away from Ohio, but at the same time boy we are happy to be back to our routine :)
Or at least I am!

I really think you need a vaca from your vaca to regroup! lol!
Are you more exhausted when you return from a family trip or do you feel relaxed and ready to go?
