Favorite Things | Stocking Stuffers

Linking up today for another round of
with Erika & Andrea :)

Today we are talking about our favorite stocking stuffers!
When it comes to stockings I am all about the items that are useful.
From growing up to now, our stockings tend to have a mixture of the following items.
Gloves are a must in Ohio during the winter months!
I like to keep a pair in every coat, so these come in handy. lol!
Nail polish is always a good choice as well!
Another stocking staple is ChapStick!
I always keep one in every purse.

Razors for girls or guys are always a great idea.

Of course kids and adults usually like seeing movies or music in their stockings as well :)

I know X would love to see coloring books and crayons in his stocking on Christmas morning.
And gift cards are always a big hit!
Especially Starbucks ones ;)

What are some of your favorite stocking stuffers to give and receive?
Do you exchange stockings in your family?

What's Up Wednesday | November

Linking up with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer today :)

What we're eating this week
TURKEY!
Other than that we are keeping things light with salads and soup.

What I'm reminiscing about
My little guy joining us about this time 4 years ago.
X will be turning 4 on December 5th :)
Can't wait to celebrate him!

What I'm loving
Having all the Christmas trees up throughout the house.
Believe it or not, we haven't decorated the trees yet!
But just walking into a room with the trees lit up just puts a smile on my face :)

What we've been up to
Organizing and cleaning the house.
We WILL be getting back to some normalcy soon!

What I'm dreading
Snow!
Don't get me wrong. I love looking out my window while sitting at my desk at work watching the snow fall.
I love doing the same from home on a Friday evening or Saturday or Sunday.
I do not like it when I have to be out walking in it, or driving in it.
Praying for a mild winter.
How about snow on Christmas Eve/Christmas morning and then it melts and we go about our winter with no snow or ice :)
Too much to ask mother nature?

What I'm working on
Getting the house decorated, and Christmas shopping.

What I'm excited about
Short work weeks!
This week, then of course the week of Christmas and New Year's are typically three day work weeks!
Meaning 4 day weekends!
YEH!

What I'm watching/reading
Mic has been working or just out of the house in the evenings quite a bit this month so I have been trying to play catch up with the DVR.
Proud to say I am completely caught up on The Blacklist after this past weekend.
Of course, I am still recording Heroes Reborn, Big Bang Theory, Nashville, and Chrisley Knows Best.
I am actually up to date on Supergirl :)
Other than that, I tend to put the Hallmark movie channel on in the background since it is 100% Christmas movies these days.
And of course we are still watching PJ Masks and all things Disney Junior!

What I'm listening to
Obsessed with the Megan Trainor/John Legend song right now.
And my XM in the car or Spotify on my computer basically stay on all things Christmas right now.

What I'm wearing
Lots and lots of layers!
It is COLD here in Ohio!
As I type this the high for today is like 37* :(
We have officially pulled out the winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves.

What I'm doing this weekend
Black Friday shopping with one of my oldest and best friends.
And then my mom is coming down to make Christmas cookies with me and X!

What I'm looking forward to next month
Dare I say everything?!
X's 4th birthday, my birthday, Christmas, New Year's!
X has his 4 year check up and I always love to see how much he has grown from the year before.
He also has his Preschool Program this month!

What else is new
My first Stitch Fix box arrived!
I can't wait to do a review for you all :)

Bonus Question: What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
As a child my favorite Christmas tradition was going to church with my parents and grandparents on Christmas Eve.
I loved the added elegance of the service with everyone dressing up more than a normal service.
I loved the message, the songs, etc.
We would end each service with just the light of candles burning while we would sing Silent Night.

My favorite tradition now is watching X open up our special Christmas Eve present filled with pj's for all three of us, a new Christmas movie, hot cocoa, and snacks.

And that my friends has been the month of November!
Looking forward to eating some yummy food tomorrow and hanging out with family and friends.

Call the blog police!

Yes, I didn't post on Monday.
Oh no!
Call the blog police!
Seriously, is it that big of a deal?
Is my blog doomed from this day forward because I didn't post on a Monday morning sharing all my weekend shenanigans?
Yes, I used the word shenanigans.
Believe me, there were no shenanigans this weekend.

You know what?
I took about 3 pictures all weekend.
Eek!
I just enjoyed the weekend.
My phone wasn't connected to my hip.
Meaning, I got things done.
I enjoyed visiting with family and hanging out with X.
And that was it.
Plain and simple.
And it was great!

So I guess all I have to say now is #sorrynotsorry

Here are those wonderful photos I referenced above.
Silly boys at Bob Evans :)
Reading with Pa and Grandma Linda.
 Cutest Buckeye fan I know!
"Mommy, take a picture of the back of my new haircut". lol!

Happy Tuesday!

FYI: No Thursday link up this week.

That Scowl!

Hello!
Yeh! And Oh my goodness how is it Friday?
The end of the year just seems to go that way.
I swear it was just the the 1st and now we are looking at a short holiday week ahead for us.
Crazy!

Let's look back at a few favorites from this past week.

That scowl just kills me!
We rearranged X's playroom so he can sit at his little table and eat his breakfast before school.
While he may not look like it in the photo below, he loves it!
Definitely a favorite spot for him!

We were without internet and phones at work on Tuesday, so Mic sent me home to get what I needed to get done there.
After starting a load of laundry, I set myself up in Mic's office.
You can't see them in this pic, but some deer were playing and running around right outside the window.
I can see why this is Mic's favorite spot to do his work.

My favorite sleeping little boy!
How fitting that I am wearing my Xavier tee with him snuggled up to me :)
I can't believe he will be 4 in two weeks!

Christmas came early in the form of my absolute favorite adult beverage!
Mic and I found this gem a few years ago when we were on vacation.
It is so yummy!
Straight over ice, or mixed with root beer to make an adult root beer float.
It is simply the best!

We received our photos from the amazing Christy Rice this week and I love them!
So many good ones to pick for our Christmas card!
These are some of my favorites :)

And that my friends has been our week!
Looking forward to getting a few more things done this weekend, getting the rest of the Christmas decorations out, and then enjoying a short work week next week!
Happy Friday!

A Birthday Wish List

In a little less than a month I have a birthday coming up.
How am I already turning 37?
I feel like just yesterday I was 16, 18, or even 30!
Time flies people! Time flies.

No matter what the number is, my mom or brother or Mic will ask the dreaded question...

What do you want for your birthday?

Does anyone else have trouble answering that question?
I mean, I could come up with a million things I want when looking at Pinterest.
But when trying to nail down an exact item I would like I blank.

So to please the masses (ie. my family), here you go!

 Weekend Trips
This item is on my wish list every year.
I love, love, love hopping in the car and going somewhere for a weekend.
I don't care to be in the car for too long, so I like short trips (3-4 hours max).
One of my favorite places to go is to Frankenmuth, Michigan!
We went quite a bit as a kid, and Mic and I have gone once.
I can't wait to take X to Bronner's Christmas Store!
I am giddy just thinking about it! :)

Concerts
If you didn't pick up on the fact the that I am an "experience" kind of gal, you will now.
Again, I grew up going to concerts or just going to see live music in general.
I absolutely love it!
I know I am older now, concerts cost more, etc. but I just love the experience of getting to see one of my favorite musical acts live on stage doing their thing!
I have been to some truly great shows in my 36 (almost 37 years).
I want to keep adding to that list!
And yes, I am not afraid to say that I would love to see Taylor Swift in concert!

Duck Boots
These are a bit more reasonable.
I live in Ohio. I love boots. I kind of need a good snow boot now that we live in the country.
These totally make sense to me ;)
I think the navy and tan ones would go perfectly with my navy or cream winter coats.

Speaking of coats....
I didn't put this in the photo above, but coats are always a good idea for me!
I kind of collect them.
One Birthday/Christmas when I was in high school I think I managed to receive 4 different style winter coats.
Again, I live in Ohio.
It gets really cold in the winter.
And a girl has to have options right?
Like a bright orange option ;)

Digital Camera
I kind of feel like the last person on the planet without one.
I mean, I have a decent camera I got about 12 years ago but it isn't a DSLR.
I have a kid who doesn't stop moving in case you didn't know ;)
I want to take photos of him doing his thing.
I want to take better photos for the blog.
I want to take better photos in general!
Most of the photos we have hanging in our home are ones that I took.
The ones of beautiful trees, parks, water, etc.
I want to decorate our house with some new ones.
I will stop now, but the list goes on and on.

Graphic Tees
If I had to name a weakness, it would be graphic tees.
I just can't get enough of them.
I am starting to get to the point where I don't have enough days to wear all the ones I love.
Sad, but true.
But that won't stop me from adding more to my collection!
Bring em' on!

Gift Cards
I love to give gift cards!
They are the perfect gift to give someone who has everything, doesn't want anything, doesn't give you ideas, etc.
Stores, restaurants, services.
I love them!
And this year I am adding Stitch Fix gift cards to my list!
I just signed up and can't wait to get my first box in the mail next week!
Review post coming soon :)

And there you have it!
What is on your wish list this year?

Now it is time for the #ThinkingOutLoudThursday link party!
Link your Thursday post below and make sure to link back to X-tremely V & Penny's Passion :)
Happy Thursday!
