Beer cheese, Booties & Baseball!

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for...
Happy Friday!
I don't know about you, but I am way too excited for the extra long weekend upon us!!!
Fingers crossed it doesn't rain all weekend long so we can enjoy some food on the grill, fireworks and who knows what else! :)

This past weekend Mic and I were not only able to have one impromptu date night, but two!
Friday evening X didn't want to go out to eat, so we dropped him off at my in-laws and we headed out by ourselves.
Alone time with Mic is definitely a favorite of mine :)
We grabbed some yummy pretzel sticks and beer cheese, adult beverages and burgers.
Super low key, but much needed!

The rain from Thursday cancelled all baseball games for Saturday which meant our morning was free.
#givemeallthepraisehandsemojis

On top of that, we found out that the birthday party X was attending wasn't until Sunday.
Free day here we come!
X wanted to hang out at my in-laws again and ride his bike and such, so Mic and I headed out to run some errands and do a little market research for the remodel.
We found a little diner/cafe near the shop we were going to and decided to stop for lunch.

Lake Erie perch and fresh cut fries!
My favorite!!!

Now that we have what we want to remodel in our home, we can now begin my favorite part - picking out the materials!!!

I posted a peek into my home on Tuesday, along with some of our ideas for the remodel.
I will definitely post more pictures as we get closer to the start date :)

One of my favorite posts of the month is my What's Up post where I link up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer!

I love looking back at what we did during the month, what we have coming up, etc.

In other news, I finally got around to taking some pictures of the shoes I recently ordered.
I am in serious need of new shoes for work and fun, but I can't stand to spend the money.
I try really hard to pick up things that crossover if possible.

Since one of my favorite stores offers free shipping and returns, it really makes finding the right pair of shoes easy!
I love the zipper detail on these Lucky Bartalino booties, so I ordered them in two different colors.
These are the pewter suede, and the bottom are the black (no longer available).
While I would love the heel to be a bit higher on them, they are pretty cute.
I think I might keep the black ones since they have the extra detailing on the back and send the pewter ones back.
What do you think?
Do you have these booties?

I also ordered these Tuscany by East Street sandals.
That cognac color is perfect and the soles were super comfy, but they just didn't fit right for me.
So unfortunately, they will be going back as well.

I also scored these Toms booties from Zulily a few weeks ago and they just arrived this week.
LOVE them!
So cute and comfy!
These might just be my new favorite shoe!

X had his last t-ball game of the season on Tuesday night.
While it can be stressful trying to control teach 8 little 4-6 year old boys and girls how to play baseball/softball, it is so much fun at the same time!
I absolutely loved that my dad was my coach for all of my softball years, and it truly makes my day to get to coach X for as long as I am able :)
Slightly biased mom moment here - He was totally my favorite player on the team ;)

And that is it for the week!
I am looking forward to celebrating my niece turning one this weekend,
hopefully enjoying some food on the grill with family or friends,
and FINGERS CROSSED getting to see some 4th of July fireworks!
My favorite July 4th activity!

What are your plans for the weekend?
Do you go see fireworks for the 4th?

Whatever your plans are, I hope you have a fantastic weekend and holiday!

Linking up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

What we're eating this week...
Monday - Spaghetti
Tuesday - Taco Bowls @ my in-law's house
Wednesday - Tri tip steaks and red skin potatoes
Thursday - Leftovers
Friday - Pizzas on the grill

What I'm reminiscing about...
The way it used to be....lol!
I am going to make myself sound exceptionally old, but I remember getting to ride in the bed of my dad's truck as a kid.
No, this isn't anyone I know...I couldn't find a good picture to post!

Heck, I remember when my entire softball team would be back there heading to DQ after a game.
Speaking of games and treats....parents didn't bring the treat to the games.
At the end of the game they would tell you could pick out anything at the concession stand for $1-2 per kid.
Or if you went to DQ for treat they did the same thing.
I wasn't a big fan of soft serve ice cream (still not), so I always would get a hot dog with ketchup and a small grape Mr. Misty (now called Artic Rush I believe).

And my brother would always order a crazy cake (personal ice cream cake in a cup), now called cupcakes I believe when he went with his team.

What I'm loving...
Have you tried this stuff yet?
I might be totally late to the game, but this is seriously SO GOOD!
X and I both love it and can't get enough!
This flavor is our favorite and we eat it by itself :)

But my treat almost every single night before bed are one of these wonderful things!
They are perfect for summer!

What we've been up to...
T-ball and birthday parties have been on our schedule all month long!

I am ready for a break, but I am sure I will miss it all in just a couple of weeks.
#idontlikedowntime

We also took X to see his first movie in the theater - Captain Underpants!

What I'm dreading...
The dentist.
I went in once again this week to see if they could fix the pain/soreness that I am still having from the crown I had to get back in April.
Praying this time will be it for awhile :/

What I'm working on...
My health.
These last few months something has changed.
I am not sure if something is wrong with my metabolism or worse, but it isn't fun that's for sure.
I have been really pushing myself to workout every day (besides to be healthier, I need the stress relief) and really be mindful about what or how much I am eating.
It has been about a month now and I have no changes.
My clothes actually feel tighter than ever :(
It might be time to call my doctor.

What I'm excited about...
An adult weekend getaway that we recently just booked with some friends.
It isn't until October, but a girl can still be excited about it right?
We are heading to Nashville and I can't wait!
We were only there for a day last time so I am super excited to go back with friends for what I am sure will be a great time!

What I'm watching/reading...
Trying to finish the Pretty Little Liars series before I find out through social media the outcome!
Last week's episode recorded, but the sound is messed up :(
So I need to find time to binge watch the last 3 hours!
Other than that, I am still watching Glee on Netflix.
I am currently on season 4 out of 6, and I am started to see a couple here and there that I caught when the show originally aired.
Over the weekend Mic and I started watching Barnwood Builders on a whim, and ended up watching 3 episodes in a row.
And all three of us watched Spartan together and we are hooked!

What I'm listening to...
This came on my Sirius app and X couldn't help dancing to it!

The channel that plays in our lobby at work must play this song at least once a day!

X and I can't help but belt this one out every time it comes on the radio.

But nothing competes with Jurassic World for X!
He still loves this song and knows every single word of it!

What I'm wearing...
For the last few weeks I have been wearing tanks and shorts because it was seriously hot and humid!
But this week is super cool, so I am wearing jeans and jackets everywhere.
And I am trying to add my new earrings in any chance I get!

What I'm doing this weekend...
We are celebrating my niece's 1st Birthday!
Here she is at 1 month old...
and then 11 months!
She is getting so big!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Not only do I get to have a couple extra days off during the week, but I just love all the red, white & blue!
Clothing, food, etc.!
And I am going to see Luke Bryan with my dad and step mom!
I can't wait!

What else is new...
I chopped some more hair off.
I didn't go as short as I originally wanted to, but I think it is a good fit for me right now :)

Bonus Question: What's your favorite July 4th tradition?
Fireworks!!!
I absolutely loved getting to go see fireworks on July 4th every year as a kid!
Unfortunately, over my adult years I haven't been able to do it nearly as much as I would like.
But thanks to X, I try to plan as best as I can to take him to see them :)

Show & Tell | Home Tour

Linking up with Andrea @ Momfessionals for...

There are good, bad, and ugly homes.
And then there is my home.
It is rough!!!

If you are new around here, we moved into my husband's childhood home almost 2 years ago.
That home is a 40+ year old home in the country that has never, ever been updated.
We do not have a furnace or AC.
And as of this year, we have a pool that no longer is able to be used.

Thankfully, we are in planning mode currently for the remodel that we are (fingers crossed) to begin next Spring!
I.Can't.Wait!!!

Today I am going to give you a very small peek into my home.
Honestly, it just isn't a space that I am proud of or that represents me so I don't like to show it.
I don't even invite friends over because to me, it is embarrassing.
Fingers crossed that will be changing soon!

So here it goes...

This is part of my kitchen.
Yes, that is a dish washer in the wall.
Believe it or not that dishwasher and microwave/oven combo are the only things in the ENTIRE house that have ever been updated in the life of the home (40+ years old).
And check out that giant space under the oven...
It is because they don't make anything to fit the space that was available, so there is just an open space :(

Oh, this cook top :(
I swear it will be the death of me!
Two burners people! That is it!
It is a 1976 Jenn Aire that of course does not have replacement parts available.
My in-laws told me they broke the other burner piece many years ago, but didn't feel the need to replace it because they didn't use them that much.
Grr!
Honestly, these burners are so small my normal size pots and pans don't fit!

On to the pantry...

Again this home was built in the 70's.
They must have used A LOT of canned goods back then!
Most of the shelves can only hold items that are the size of a can of soup.
There are a couple taller shelves, but they are super narrow.
And things fall out all the time because there isn't a thick edge to hold things in place :(

I even have a bin on the counter to hold extra items that just can't seem to fit in there.

The other weird to me thing is the amount of windows and doors we have in this house!
Oh, and I can't forget about all the pink flooring.
Pink carpet, pink tile, pink tub, etc.

This picture was taken when my in-laws were in the process of moving out.
We even have a pink wall!

Like I said above, it is embarrassing.
But thankfully we are working on our plans for the remodel :)
Mic has been doing a lot of the design work through a computer program and it is pretty much done.
So now we are focusing on materials :)
#thefunpart

We actually headed to a local shop over the weekend to check out samples and such.
Love the samples we brought home with us!

This is the look of the floor we are going for...

Here are a few more of the ideas we are planning on incorporating into our remodel...

Mic and I both LOVE these black pane windows!

So I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I absolutely love red brick!
I always have!
We have to have support columns throughout the house, so I would love them to be wrapped in red brick!

Actually, I am planning on having a red brick surround/arch over top of my stove :)

What do you think of red brick?
Do you prefer painted brick?

While there are definitely a lot more updates we are planning for the house, I will leave that for another day.
I will be posting the before, after, and in between photos when we get closer :)

One last thing on our list as of this year is a new pool.
We are thinking something super simple, low maintenance, and much more shallow than our current pool.

Have you remodeled your home?
Any tips, tricks, ideas, etc. you may have I would greatly appreciate!

And you can head here to check out all my posts about our old home :)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my world :)
