Friday Favorites | My Town

Friday, May 29, 2015

I don't think I could be more happy that Friday is here!
TGIF!

Let's get to it!

Linking up with my Friday Favorites hosts below :)

Amy/Karli

While X and I were home sick together over the weekend we started watching some YouTube videos of Monster Trucks.
#mommyisatomboy
Then he found the videos that do monster truck toy reviews. He was in heaven!
It has quickly become one of his favorite things to do each night!

We got to bring treat to X's t-ball game on Wednesday evening :)
X still (thankfully) only drinks water and milk at 3 1/2 years old.
So instead of bringing juice boxes for the kiddos, we picked out X's favorite beverage to share :)
Mini bottles of water for the win!
It seemed the rest of the parents were quite pleased with this. #winformommy

X is always so excited for his "games" on the way there, but then once we get there he rather pick at the grass :(
Hitting the ball is probably his favorite part of the game, so he will sit on the bench and wait his turn like a good boy then :)
#23

Thursday morning some of the kiddos in X's preschool group were graduating onto Kindergarten with a little ceremony.
The rest of the preschoolers got to take part and help sing songs, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and recite a poem.
Definitely a favorite moment of mine was watching my little guy do his thing!

When X's name was called to get his certificate and book, he ran up to his teacher.
She then mentioned that he never stops running.
Glad it isn't just for me! lol!
#futuretrackstar
He was being super goofy and moving all around so this was the best shot I got of my favorite preschooler!

On the docket for Thursday evening is a couple of my favorite things...
Mowing the grass is seriously something I love to do!
In high school I used to load my dad's mower into the back of my truck and cut grass for the ladies at my grandma's church.
It was a great workout, and easy money in the summer :)
I also plan on taking advantage of this beautiful weather and grilling our dinner tonight before all the rain comes in this weekend.

How was your week?
Did your kiddos graduate from preschool, kindergarten, etc.?

Today I am also joining my favorite fashionable ladies to discuss our towns.
While I would love to showcase my hometown or even my favorite city, but I will follow the rules this time around and talk about my current town. Mic's hometown. X's hometown.

So there is this movie that came out about 20 years or so ago and is kind of popular.
I guess it makes the best movies of all time list for most people.
Not sure if any of you heard of it....The Shawshank Redemption.
Don't hate me if you love this movie, but it was just okay in my book.
However, if you like it than you probably should visit the 'field on your next trip through Ohio.
We have the Shawshank Trail tour that you can explore the old prison and some more local spots from the movie.
I have even known people to spend the night at the prison! CRAZY!!!
It has been featured on a few different ghost hunter shows like the one below.

Beyond that movie being filmed well before I moved here, I live in a pretty small town.
Honestly, I grew up in an extremely small town but somehow being on the shores of Lake Erie and within 20 minutes from Cleveland made it seem pretty big.
The field is about 1 1/2 hours south of Cleveland and about 45 minutes north of the out skirts of Columbus.
(And yes, here in Ohio we measure distance by how long it takes to get from point A to point B.)
Why does it seem so small here?
Because there is literally nothing but farm fields from here to Columbus and most the way to Cleveland!
AHHH!

Despite feeling like I have very few options around here, it is a great area to raise a family.
The cost of living can't be beat, and we live in a wonderful school district!
In fact, as of right now my little guy will follow exactly in Mic's footsteps from the same preschool, and elementary through high school.
That is kind of cool in my book :)

What else can I tell you about the field?
Hmm, we are home to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

If you are an Indy race fan, apparently this is the place for you.
Motorcycle races are big there too.

We also are home to the Miss Ohio pageant every year.
It is actually a week long production that I enjoy since they close down the town square and set up carnival food stands.
Can you say funnel cake?
#yum

What to know more?
Just ask!
Or click here to see what else the field and surrounding area has to offer.

Happy Friday!

I confess...

Thursday, May 28, 2015

~That I read/follow way too many blogs to actually keep up with them all :(

~That I am not good at unpacking things. I just found a beach bag from last summer with two towels, swim trunks for X, my favorite suit, a suit of Mic's, and a pair of his jeans :/ At least they were all clean!

~That this sickness is getting the best of me these days.

~That I tell X that we don't have any more fruit snacks when we actually do.

~That I am exhausted and ending this post/rant here.

Do you have any confessions you would like to make?
Want to think out loud with me?

What's Up Wednesday | May

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

Is it really the end of May?
While that is just plain crazy how fast this past month went by, I will take it!
That means vaca is just around the corner!!!

The end of the month also means it is time for...
with Mel, Shay, and Sheaffer!

What we're eating this week
Clean foods! Lots of veggies and fruits, and anything that can be made on the grill!
What I'm reminiscing about
The old days when going on a family vacation meant that I got to lay on the beach all day, work on my tan, swim in the ocean, not pay for a thing, and look at magazines.

What I'm loving
That I have lots of dates with friends and family filling our calendar for the summer!

What we've been up
T-ball games
my brother's wedding,
and helping my in-laws get their new house ready to move in.

What I'm dreading
Having to pack up and leave our house :(
I know it is all for the best, but I am going to be sad when we have to say goodbye.

What I'm working on
A sponsored post or two that I am really excited to share with you all.

What I'm excited about
Going to #TheMainEvent concert in Cleveland in June!
NKOTB, Nelly, and TLC.
Seriously, I can't wait!
Bonus: I am going with one of my very best friends :)

What I'm watching/reading
I have been sick for the last week, so I haven't watched much TV.
However, I have been keeping up with NBA playoffs.
GO CAVS!
#AllinCLE
What I'm listing to
At this very moment....nothing.
I am sitting in pure silence at my desk at work.
Everyone is gone and it is wonderful!

What I'm wearing
The temps have been steady in the high 70's and 80's so it is officially tanks, shorts, and sandal weather for me when I am not at work.

What I'm doing this weekend
Joining my favorite barre instructor and some friends for Pilates in the Park followed by brunch at an amazing B&B!
It is in a bordering town with such a cute town square and we will be doing our thang right in the middle of it all.

What I'm looking forward to next month
VACATION!!!
I can't wait to sink my toes into the sand, build sand castles with X, swim in the ocean, and relax in my favorite place :)

What else is new
Another sunless tanner to try!
I ordered a bottle of the Rodan & Fields sunless tanner and it arrived late last week.
I can't wait to try it out!

BONUS QUESTION
What is your favorite thing to grill/BBQ?
I think just about everything tastes better when it is grilled.
That being said I still have my favorites that I make throughout the summer.
Yes, I said summer.
I live in Ohio where Spring and Fall truly border on Winter like weather.
I think I need to add covered desk to my home wish list for the future! ;)

My go to's are baby back ribs and pizza.
I could live all summer off of those two things alone.
Well, those and watermelon :)

What are you looking forward to in the month of June?
What is your favorite grilling food?

Down with the sickness

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Some sort of sickness hit me and X last week and knocked us out!
I never skip writing a Friday Favorites link up or a Favorite Things post, but I had to.
Thankfully X is doing much better, and fingers crossed I am on the mend as well.

This was the scene Wednesday evening..
Poor guy fell asleep while he was eating :(
I ended up staying home Thursday and Friday with him and managed to see the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls.
I feel like it was just yesterday I watched it.
Can't believe it has been 15 years already!

X was so good doing breathing treatments this time around!

Friday we went to the doctor's office to make sure it wasn't anything serious - slight case of bronchitis :(
Since it was nice out and we wanted something to ease our sore throats we stopped for Superman Ice Cream  at our favorite spot :)

Once X was feeling better, the sickness hit me harder :(
I tried to self medicate on Saturday evening with an old favorite :)
But no such luck.

Sunday I was a mess.
Hence no photos.
I did wake up Monday morning to this and immediately felt a tiny bit better.
#AllinCle

Monday we were pretty lazy and just hung out at home.
I caught my all time favorite tv shows on a CMT marathon.
#allisrightintheworld
#texasforever
#cleareyesfullheartscantlose

And while Mic cooked dinner outside for us, X was making me some soup in his kitchen :)
With glow sticks. lol!

And that was my long, boring, sick filled weekend.
Or should I say week?
I can't believe I have been gone for 5 days!
Yikes!
Praying that doesn't happen again!

Did you all cookout this weekend?
Tell me your stories so I can live vicariously through you all until I am feeling better :)

Carry on...

My Brother is Married!

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

In case you couldn't tell, I wasn't here on Friday.
It was my little brother's wedding weekend, so we packed up the car on Friday morning and headed north to celebrate!

After picking up tuxes and such, it was time for the rehearsal.
I had to get a quick pic with my brother before things started :)
My now SIL gave X a special present since she was officially becoming his Aunt!
So sweet!

The rehearsal dinner was at Buca di Beppo and it sure didn't disappoint!
We enjoyed these mini cannoli's (my brother's favorite) for dessert :) YUM!

The wedding arrived and that meant it was time to meet up with the bride and her girls to get ready!
Samantha looked gorgeous!

I showed the hair stylist this pic for inspiration.
The lighting in the bathroom was horrible and my hair is pretty dark!
This was the best I could get of the back of my hair :(
Waiting to see the wedding photos for a better shot hopefully!
Of course a selfie with the bride was in order before getting her dress on!
From about that point on I put my phone away and just enjoyed the evening.
I stole this pic off of Facebook of Mic, X and I coming down the aisle :)

These two truly love animals!!!
Their dog Chompers walked down the aisle with my brother as the flower girl.
They had a movie/TV theme to the reception so everyone sat at tables named after movies and such.

Samantha put this cake topper together herself.
She found the animals and the bride and groom, and then painted them to look identical to her, my brother and their three animals!
It was awesome!

They came out and did a traditional first dance, but then followed it up with a little choreographed number to Uptown Funk :)

I stole this pic below too!
X seriously danced the night away!!!
My step brother's daughter danced with him the entire time.
They even slow danced together!!! lol!
We had so much fun Saturday celebrating with everyone!

Not gonna lie, Sunday was rough!
We were exhausted!
After returning the majority of the tuxes, we stopped and enjoyed lunch at The Rail before heading home.

We made it home and immediately crashed.
We finally woke up about 7pm and decided to get a late dinner at Cracker Barrel, and reward X with a new toy for being so good all weekend at the wedding festivities.

Can't wait to hear about Richie and Samantha's honeymoon in Hawaii when they return!

The photographer (and my friend) just added some pics to Facebook from the wedding and I had to steal this one!
Oh my goodness! I am so in love with that little guy!
