What's Up Wednesday | November

Linking up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

What we're eating this week...
Turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, and pumpkin pie!
I mean, there are other foods this week but I can't really think about those! lol!

What I'm reminiscing about...
At this time 5 years ago I was preparing to welcome X into the world.
While I knew our lives would be forever changed, I didn't get just how much! lol!

What I'm loving...
That I am off of work for the next 4 days!!!

What we've been up...
Unfortunately, we had to put our family cat to sleep after 13 years of being with us :(
It has been a tough week.
Earlier this month we headed to Lego Fest and had a blast!
I hosted my annual scarf exchange with friends :)
And I attended my first college football game with Mic :)

What I'm dreading...
Making fires all winter :(
While I love the smell of the fire, the constant up keep of cleaning out the ashes, throwing more logs on the fire, etc. gets exhausting and OLD when it is super cold!

What I'm working on...
Christmas shopping and decorating the house.

What I'm excited about...
Planning a few trips for 2017!
We are talking about possibly heading to Disney!
I have never been, so I am beyond excited!
Any tips, suggestions, etc. are greatly appreciated!

What I'm watching/reading...
Dancing with the Stars, lots of football, and I super excited to watch Gilmore Girls this weekend!

What I'm listening to...
Everything Christmas!
I turn my Sirius radio on my phone while I am at work, and then in the car I tune into the same channels or pop in one of my favorite Christmas Cd's.
Yes, I still own and use Cd's!
I am a 90's girl ;)

What I'm wearing...
Lots and lots of layers!
It has been super cold this week. I am talking snow people!
Sweaters and scarves are my go-to's this week,
and I picked up a few more pairs of Lularoe leggings too :)
How cute are these?

What I'm doing this weekend...
Hopefully getting some Christmas shopping done, finish decorating the house, and I have a baby shower on Sunday for a childhood friend back home.

What I'm looking forward to next month...
X's 5th Birthday Party!
This is the first time we let him invite a few friends and I can't wait to see them all interact outside of school and soccer :)

What else is new...
Nothing other than enjoying all the fun red cups from Starbucks! ;)

Bonus Question: What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?
There is so much I love about Thanksgiving!
The food, the newspaper full of store ads, the Football, and of course time with family :)
My favorite tradition would have to be waking up to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade!
It is simply the best!

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

Show & Tell | Want, Need, Wear, Read

Linking up with Andrea @ Momfessionals for...

Today we are talking about one thing we Want, Need, would Wear, and Read :)

Something I really want would be new flooring in our family room.
We have some really bad looking mauve/pink carpeting in there that is super old, but we didn't want to replace it since our cat continually made it worse every day.
While I am still super sad over the passing of Diamond, I would love to tear out that eye sore and replace it with something neutral.

Then all my red Christmas decor wouldn't clash :)
Something like these floors below would be wonderful!

I am so in need of more time!
More time to get work done, to spend with X having fun, to get things done around the house, and to just relax!
Since that is pretty hard to get more of, I will say a massage.
It would be great to finally have my tailbone issue fixed from 5 years agowhen it broke from having Xavier!
See now why I need that extra time! lol!

I would wear these Sperry Duck Boots just about every day!
I have been talking about them forever, so fingers crossed I will see them under the tree this Christmas ;)

I have the Eats and The Magnolia Story on my wish list this year, so I am hoping I will be able to read and cook from them soon!

What do you want, need, wear, and read?
I would love to hear your choices in the comments below :)

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for...

What a week of ups and downs :(

I started my week on a high with my favorite caffeinated drink!
#caramelbruleelatte
Even better....it was in my favorite red cup!

Sunday night my favorite little guy fell asleep in the chair by 6:15pm!!!
#hedefinitelyissick
Poor guy!

Monday evening the moon looked amazing!
I wish I cell phones were able to take better pictures, because it looked awesome from our front porch!

I worked from home on Tuesday which is definitely not my favorite, but the view wasn't too bad.
Anyone else feel that way or is it just me?
I am not meant to be at home!

X and I had to swing through Kroger and we of course had to look at the toys!
He found one of his favorite things in the dollar section...a dino egg!
It was a W for both of us :)

Unfortunately, this is where the favorites end.
Wednesday was an insanely rough day.
13 years ago this past August Mic found this gem of a kitten in the woods at his parent's house (now our current home).
He was only about 8 weeks old at the time and looked like something might have attacked him.
Mic took him in not thinking he would keep him at first, but end up falling in love with him.
He went on to name him Diamond..as in a Diamond in the rough.

I moved in with Mic a month later and was a little skeptical of having a pet.
I am NOT an animal person!
But just like Mic, I grew to love Diamond and truly thought of him as part of our family.

This beautiful blue eyed guy was even part of Mic and I getting engaged!
Diamond "gave" me my diamond ring and I will always remember that every single time I look at my left hand.

He was there through all the ups and downs Mic and I have shared over the years.
From getting married to bringing X home to moving back to the place Mic found him.

I absolutely loved all the comfy spots he found to sleep.

To me, he was so much more than our family cat.
He was my first baby.
He was the first living thing I have ever had to take care of!
Despite being standoffish with guests, he sure did love us.
He was always there to snuggle (yes, I said snuggle) when we were sad or upset.
He slept with us at night.
He met you at the door when we came home from work.
He was just the best cat/pet I could have asked for for our family.

So it pains me to say that we had to say goodbye to Diamond on Wednesday.
Literally, this was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.
I knew there would be a day we would have to say goodbye to this member of our family, I just didn't anticipate it that day.
Mic and I took him to the vet Wednesday morning fearing the worst, but truly hoping for the best.
Unfortunately, things were in the worst category.
He was having respiratory issues and his temperature was low.
The vet gave us some options, but all routes ended up in him being in more distress.
So with tears streaming down our faces we made the decision to put him out of his misery.

We elected to bring him home and bury him on the property where he was found 13 years ago.
I picked a super sunny spot so he will always feel the warmth of the sun :)
He loved a good sun spot!

We broke the news to Xavier after having dinner at his favorite place.
I wish I could say that telling your almost 5 year old that his pet has passed was easy, but it wasn't.
Right now he knows that Diamond has gone on to heaven and we will see him again some day.
When he gets a little bit older we will fill him in about him being buried in the yard.

I can honestly say that I never thought I would love a pet or animal as much as I love Diamond.
Nothing will ever replace him in my book and I am totally OK with that.

We love you and miss you Diamond!
