Christmas 2014

Monday, December 29, 2014

While I am ready to be back to the daily routine, I am not ready to be back.
I have been off since Christmas Eve and it was fantastic!
We woke up Christmas Eve morning and decided to get our gingerbread house built.
Doing this with a 3 year old was rough! On top of that a few of the pieces were missing :(
And you are probably supposed to let the house "set up" before adding the decor, but X wanted to keep moving. So we did.
We did the best we could....X loved it!
He couldn't wait to show everyone that walked into our house his creation :)
Toddler built

After what felt like forever building that house (literally it was like 20 minutes), I finished wrapping our presents, X took a nap, and then we were off to my in-laws house for dinner.
treats, snacks, holidays
Super easy treat! I will post the recipe next week :)

I love these Christmas dishes that my MIL has!
It is every verse of Twas the night before Christmas :)
dinner plates, holidays

We headed home and opened our Christmas Eve present.
New pj's for the fam, and a new movie to watch!
Can you believe this is the first time any of us have watched Frozen?
I think we all loved it!
In fact, we have watched it at least once every day since Christmas Eve! lol!
X already knows some of the words to the songs too! :)
pj's, hot cocoa, movies, frozen

Christmas morning I made a yummy Blueberry Croissant Puff for breakfast :)
Once that was in the oven it was time for X to see what Santa brought him!
the grinch, coffee, quiet, fire
The calm before the storm :)
breakfast, blueberries, cream cheese, croissants
Recipe to come next week :)

Of course he wanted everything put together the second he opened it :(

christmas morning 2014

christmas morning 2014

old school, christmas morning 2014

When we were done it was time to clean up, set the table, and get ready for round 3 of Christmas with my family.
My parents and brother came down to my house this year.
From my table set up you can tell I don't host holidays very often.
It was nice to be able to use our wedding china though :)
I think we have broke those babies out a whole 3 times in the last 8 years!

I get requests every year for my homemade pecan pie :)

We enjoyed good food, conversation, and more with everyone over those couple of days!
This boy was most excited about this kitchen my mom got him!
Every day he asks to go play with it :)

Me, my dad, and brother.
Now my mom's turn :)
The only picture we managed to take as a family on Christmas day and it was blurry :(

On Friday morning we awoke to strange things.
X must have had a nose bleed while he was sleeping because he woke up like this..
x-tremely v
Poor baby!
It continued to bleed on and off all day.
On top of that he had some really odd swelling behind his right ear.
Thankfully that went away with a dose of Tylenol.
The whole day was kind of blah since all three of us were still stuffed from eating too much and thoroughly exhausted.

By Saturday I was itching to get out of the house!
I am so not one to be stuck inside for more than a day!
We decided to take a ride and ended up in Coschocton at The Unusual Junction for some lunch.
Of course not before round 2 of weirdness happened.
Things seemed normal when X said "Mommy".
I turned around to find him throwing up all over himself :(
Poor little guy!
He didn't know what was going on since this is the first time he has ever gotten sick! Other than baby spit up anyways.
We pulled over to the side of the road, cleaned him up as good as we could, and looked for the nearest store.
Parent fail = I didn't even think about having an extra set of clothes in the car!
We had to stop at a local Walmart to get X a new shirt and pants to wear! Lesson learned!

Thankfully after eating some pretzels X seemed to feel better :)
We finally made it to Coschocton for lunch and were happy to get out of the car.

The Unusual Junction was definitely unusual!
Autographed items all over, newspaper articles and memorabilia from years and years ago, phones on the table, etc.
The best part to me was that on the big screen they were playing old Flintstones cartoons :)

X kept picking up the phone to call his Uncle Richie :)
He would say "Hello! Good to see you! Goodbye Uncle Richie!" and then "kiss" the phone. SO sweet!!!
The original sign autographed by Bob Barker.

After lunch we headed home for the boys to get haircuts before we watched Frozen again.

Sunday, was back to normal for the most part.
Grocery shopping, watch the Browns lose again, etc.
We did manage to take down all of our Christmas decor except the trees.
That never usually happens before the 1st!

That is seriously the most condensed version I could give of our 5 days off!

How was your Christmas?
Did you host your family or friends?
What did you eat?
There are so many different traditions this time of year.
I would love to hear what yours are :)

Weekend Fun | Favorite Things Party

Monday, October 27, 2014

We didn't do a whole heck of a lot this weekend, but it was still a good time!
After work on Friday we took X to get a haircut and Mic decided to join him.
X actually wanted to sit by himself in the tractor chair and only fussed when she sprayed his hair with water.

Fresh cut & only a few tears.
I call that success!

On Saturday Mic had office work to do so X and I just played around the house.
He even did a little coloring at his table, instead of playing with cars or running laps.
Once X took a nap and Mic finished his work, we decided to take a drive and enjoy the beautiful day.
We ended up at the Overlook at Mohican State Park in Loudonville.
Family Selfie = Total Fail! lol!

X loves to make faces for the camera. So that is exactly what we did on the ride to dinner.

We ended up at one of my favorite comfort spots - Cracker Barrel.
This kid is the best!

We ended our evening hanging out with some friends, eating some yummy food, and watching football.

Sunday was a typical lazy day.
I was able to get a quick run in on the treadmill before grocery shopping.
It was amazing! I haven't worked out in a month and I was seriously going crazy!

Since the Browns game wasn't on until 4:25 (really?), Mic and X took naps together while I made Dinner in a Pumpkin and got sucked into Scream 4.
I didn't even know they made it until I stumbled on it while flipping channels.
I hate all scary movies! The Scream trilogy is honestly the only ones I have ever watched all the way through.
I kind of felt obligated to watch the 4th movie.
In pure daylight, while making dinner, I watched Scream 4 and was scared out of my mind!
Why do I do this to myself? Who knows!
Either way, I am glad I had the Browns game to watch afterwards to get my mind off of it!
The funny thing about it all...it wasn't that scary. I am just a complete wuss when it comes to horror or suspense movies of any kind!

After the movie we enjoyed our dinner and watched the Browns beat the Raiders :)
It was a great weekend!

What did you do this weekend?
Did your team come away with a win?

And I couldn't forget about linking up with Erika & Andrea for

I am keeping it super simple today.
In honor of Halloween, my favorite thing under $10 is...
Halloween Oreos! They are so good! And only $2.98 a package!!
I have no idea why they taste better than the original ones, but they do!
I can't wait for the red Christmas ones now!

What is your favorite item under $10 right now?

Camping

Monday, July 21, 2014

I left work early on Friday to head up to Port Clinton/Catawba Island to go camping with my dad, brother, and X at Cedarlane RV Park :)
We tried to start a tradition about 5 years ago that the three of us would spend a weekend camping together. It hasn't worked out to do it every year :( so I was excited that we were able to get it scheduled for this summer!
And this time X was joining us :)
It was his first time camping and staying in the Winnebago so I wasn't sure what to expect.
Thankfully, Cedarlane has multiple pools, a splash pad, playground area, etc.

X napped on and off on the way there, so he was ready to go and play when we arrived.
He ran around outside for a little bit before we headed to dinner at Casa Las Palmas.
X and I ordered our norm....TACOS!
Of course, the only way to eat them is pinkies up! lol!

After dinner we made a quick run to Bassett's grocery store to pick up a few necessities and then headed back to the campground to play and swim!
These two together just melt my heart!

X loved playing in the pool and in the splash pad area :)
I unfortunately didn't get any photos of him there :(
#badblogger

We cleaned up, got X in his pj's and headed back outside to hangout by the fire.
Love his little camp chair my dad got him :)
Making his first campfire pizza with Pa :) LOVE!

Unfortunately most of Saturday it was raining :(
We decided to take a drive around Port Clinton stopped at Walmart (not my favorite place). This store was actually clean and nice!

We walked around and made our way to the toy section...of course!
X found his future bike -- X Games theme!

We also made a pit stop at Cheese Haven :)
I picked up a couple of delicious cheese spreads to bring home with me.

After lunch, the weather cleared up a bit..YEH!
So while X was napping the three of use played a little corn hole :)
After nap time we set up X's new tee ball set to get some practice in. He is a natural in my opinion ;)

Of course no day is complete without a few meltdowns!
Once the tantrum was over, Uncle Richie brought out a box FULL of cars, Starting Line up dolls, and more for X to play with and bring home with him! SO many memories of playing with all those things when we were little :)

It was once again fire time and tonight s'mores were on my menu!
X didn't want to wait to toast the marshmallow though ;)

Sunday morning we woke up, ate some yummy donuts and X played with his "new" cars.

We then packed up our car, said our goodbye's, and headed back home.

Despite the rain on Saturday and the numerous tantrums all weekend, we had a good time :)

However...
Note to self: Terrible 2's and close quarters of any kind do not mix!!!

So how was your weekend?
