The Feels | June 2020

Monday, June 29, 2020

What happens when you have a fun, full weekend?
Your blog post goes live WAY later than you intended.
Better late than never :/

Join me for the June Edition of The Feels :)

Favorite Meal?
Lunch with some great friends at Kitchen Social in Columbus was really good!
I had a basic crispy chicken salad, but that chicken was SO GOOD!
I topped it off with a cucumber mint cocktail that was delicious!

Favorite Movie/TV Show/Book?
There hasn't been much to watch this month, but if I have to pick a favorite it would be the final episodes of Fuller House.
I just loved them!
It ended exactly the way it should :)
But I still want more! :)

Favorite Activity?
Not one, but two!
Celebrating my sweet niece turning 4 years old, followed by celebrating my cousin turning 30 years old all in the same weekend!
It was so good to see so many family members and just get out of our new normal for bit :)

Favorite Moment?
Showing up to the house and seeing that our cabinets have arrived!
I am in love with them!
It is just so exciting to see it all come together :)

Goal for July?
Eat clean!
I have been doing pretty well over this past month, but I want to clean things up a bit more in July.

Anything Else That Made June Feel Good?
Soccer is back!
I can't believe I am still saying that, but it's true.
Watching X get back in the swing of things with practices and scrimmages have been great!
Looking forward to seeing him play in the games in July :)

What's Up June

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Hey there friends!
I'm linking up with Sheaffer & Shay for the June Edition of What's Up Wednesday!

What we're eating this week...
Monday - Take out (it was a late dinner night)
Tuesday - Pulled pork & corn
Wednesday - Leftovers
Thursday - Spaghetti
Friday - Pizza
Weekend - ???

If you are looking for a yummy summer dessert for your upcoming July 4th parties look no further!
This Blueberry Cobbler is so yummy!!!

What I'm reminiscing about...
That this time 10 years ago I started working with Mic again.
But right before that, we headed to South Beach for a work trip!

Wow! Do we look young or what?

If feels like I have been at the office forever, so it is crazy to think it has only been 10 years.
If you are new around here, Mic and I met working together 19 years ago in the Cleveland area.

What I'm loving...
I'm typically not one to enjoy having nothing to do, but after all these months I think I'm getting used to it.
But things are starting to open back up, so I'm sure I'll be back to my old self sooner than later ;)

What we've been up to...
Actually seeing people in person again!
X has started practicing for his summer soccer team.

I made a quick trip up north to visit with my dad for Father's Day.

We celebrate the upcoming arrival of a new baby girl with some friends.

I enjoyed lunch with some friends in Columbus.

X celebrate two of his friends turning 9 years old!

I've been using my little mini grill to make healthier dinner options :)

What I'm dreading...
Nothing really.

What I'm working on...
This post and my Style My Way post.
Also, I just threw that pork roast in the crock pot for dinner tonight :)

What I'm excited about...
I just heard that our cabinets are arriving this week!
Fingers crossed that means they are actually being installed soon!
And I am loving the doors, some of the trim work being put up, and tile in our bathrooms!

You can check it all out here :)

What I'm watching/reading...
Mic and I recently watching Knives Out and Hotel Artemis.
Both just 😐
I'm currently binge watching Alexa & Katie on Netflix and I love it!
So cute!

Alexa and Katie TV show on Netflix: canceled or renewed for season 4?

What I'm listening to...
Lots of country because it keeps my mind at ease.

What I'm wearing...
Inside the house I am wearing lots of pants, sweatshirts, etc. because I am freezing!
Outside I'm melting!
Tanks/tees with shorts and sandals are on repeat!
See more in my Style My Way posts for June below.
Check out today's Style My Way post here :)

What I'm doing this weekend...
Celebrating my niece turn 4 years old!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Vacation!

I know with so many things being shutdown this year it won't be a typical vacation, but I don't care!

I am so looking forward to visiting the beach, swimming in the pool, hanging out in the hot tub and by the Tiki Bar!
And just being having little to no responsibilities while we are gone :)

What else is new...
I finally got my hair cut and colored and it feels great!
It had been almost 5 months since I had it done last!
Crazy!

And that is all for the month of June friends!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Style My Way | Eyelet in the sky

When you shop for new clothes do you typically have something in mind that you are looking for, or do you just buy whatever jumps out at you?
I typically don't buy anything I just see as I shop.
I go to stores or sites with the intent to find an item that I have pictured in my head.

So when I headed to Target the other day I was looking for an eyelet top of some sort.
I actually picked up the exact same top in two different colors since you aren't able to use the dressing rooms right now.
Honestly, I wasn't giving the navy one much thought.
In my mind I was going to wear the white version.
Well, to my surprise I really liked the navy one so much more!

I paired it with some simple white chino shorts and sandals for an evening with friends.
It was perfect!

Navy Eyelet Top - Available in white & rose as well.
Straw Sandals - similar
Straw Handbag (not shown)
Earrings (shown below)
Sunglasses - not shown

Which is your favorite way to shop - In store or online?

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Friday Favorites Week #25

Friday, June 19, 2020

Happy Friday!
I'm joining Andrea & Erika for another week of favorites.

We kicked off our weekend with our first dinner out in months!
We decided to hit up the 1928 Grille because we figured it wouldn't be crowded, and we wanted to sit outside.
It was just what I needed!

Believe it or not...X does have eyes ;) lol!

Sitting out on a deck with an adult beverage :)
The only thing missing was some live music!

On Saturday I headed to Columbus for lunch with friends.
We sat outside (which was not very warm), but that didn't matter.
Loved seeing these ladies face to face!
Don't mind our windblown hair ;)

Sunday was clean up day at the house.
We had some heavy winds earlier in the week that caused a tree to just break in half!
Thankfully, it didn't do any damage to the house.
Just added to the mess that is our yard these days. lol!

Mic had it cleaned up within a couple of hours and things were A OK!

X was beyond excited for the Fortnite event that happened on Monday afternoon!
I don't typically watch the events with him, but I decided to stick around for it.
He was so happy and just beaming with all the things going on.
I loved watching his little face :)

Wednesday was Hair Day for me! 🙌🙌🙌
I hadn't had my hair cut or colored since February 5th!
I was supposed to go at the beginning of April, but right before my appointment the salons were shutdown.
The perks of having long hair, I can go much longer in between cuts.
But my regrowth was out of control!
Thankfully, Kasey worked her magic and all things are good in my hair world :)

Last night X's soccer group was split into two teams and they were able to scrimmage each other.
It felt so good to cheer that guy on again!
And while the colors he is sporting make me want to gag (Boo black and gold!), he is sporting my number from when I played sports so I'm trying to let the colors slide ;)
Let's go #6!!!

On the blog this week I shared some vacation packing tips that will help you get ready for any upcoming trips you may have :)

I also shared some home updates and asked a few lighting questions in my Let's Stay Home series.

We stopped by the house last night and I quickly snapped these pics.
I mentioned in my post yesterday that trim is going up now.
While the dust needs to be wiped off of them, nail holes have to be filled, and the final coat of paint still needs to be applied to all the trim...I'm so excited for how it is coming together!
Look at the view out of our bedroom windows!

And that is it for today!
I hope you all had a wonderful week!
Wishing all the men in your lives a very Happy Father's Day!

Let's Stay Home | Updates & Lighting

Thursday, June 18, 2020

Hello and Happy Thursday!
It's Let's Stay Home time!
Today I am sharing some updates that have been going on at our house, as well as looking for some lighting feedback from you all.

If you are new around here, check out the posts below to catch up on our whole home renovation/new build process first.
You will be amazed by the before pictures!

Let's Stay Home - Mini Update #6
Let's Stay Home - Insta Home Inspiration

Now on with the updates!

Both upstairs bathrooms have been tiled and grouted!!
I think the floor in X's bathroom is my favorite!
It is hard to tell in the pictures, but we went with a medium gray grout for the white subway tiles in both bathrooms.

Glass also still needs to be put in each shower/bath space.
And don't mind the fact that everything is super dusty right now ;)

Now that the tile work is done(for now)...
Our builder is working from the second floor and moving his way down, so I'm impatiently waiting for my pantry door to be hung ;)

All bedroom and bathroom doors have been hung and trim is now being put up as well :)
Everything will get nails filled in and a final coat of paint as well.
I am so glad we went with the wall color for all the trim pieces.

Loved seeing the windows in our closet with trim on them as well!
(Completely forgot to turn the lights on when I took these pictures, and to brighten them. #bloggerfail)

And here is the current state of the outside of the house.
That existing space will get tackled with new siding, shingles, etc. once the inside is all done.

Now onto my lighting question for you all.
Here are the lights we purchased to go above our kitchen island and dining table area.
We will have two of these larger lights (5 bulbs) above our dining table space.

And then three of this 2 bulb version will be above our kitchen island.

We have been storing these lights for a long time. lol!
Looking for lights is not fun at all to me.
Possibly, because I don't like about 95% of what is out there.
So based on those lights above, I need to find complimentary lighting for our sconces and our foyer light.

Here is a very beginner mock up of the lighting styles I am leaning towards.

Our foyer light isn't 100% in the line of sight with the wooden lights in the kitchen and dining room.
Also, those lights look much darker in person - more black than bronze on the metal pieces, and slightly darker wood.
Just the sconces will be near both lights.
We want an antler chandelier in the foyer, but I have yet to find one I love.
Thoughts?

That is all for today friends!
Link up your home decor, DIY, new build, etc. posts below.
And don't forget to give me your lighting feedback in the comments below :)

Have a great day!

XOXO ~ Vanessa
