When Everything Is Dull, Wear Green

Wednesday, March 3, 2021

One of my favorite holidays of the year is coming up and I found some fun (and cheap) finds to get you looking super festive for St. Patrick's Day from Target! ☘

Any of these tees would be super cute for running errands, grabbing a green drink, or under a cute cardigan for work.

If you prefer to rock a tank under your cardigan or flannel, these are some cute options :)
And if you have nice weather rock it as is!

How cute are these earrings?
They would pair perfectly with one of the tees or tanks above, or by themselves for just a touch of the Irish.

And who doesn't like festive socks?
If there is one thing you rock on St. Patrick's Day let it be one of these fun pairs of socks!

Target has even more cute and festive St. Patrick's Day for the whole family on their site and in store.

Now I want to know...do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
Do you wear green and eat special foods that day?
Let me know in the comments below :)

May the luck of the Irish be with you ☘💚

XOXO ~ Vanessa

Style My Way | Eyelet in the sky

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

When you shop for new clothes do you typically have something in mind that you are looking for, or do you just buy whatever jumps out at you?
I typically don't buy anything I just see as I shop.
I go to stores or sites with the intent to find an item that I have pictured in my head.

So when I headed to Target the other day I was looking for an eyelet top of some sort.
I actually picked up the exact same top in two different colors since you aren't able to use the dressing rooms right now.
Honestly, I wasn't giving the navy one much thought.
In my mind I was going to wear the white version.
Well, to my surprise I really liked the navy one so much more!

I paired it with some simple white chino shorts and sandals for an evening with friends.
It was perfect!

Navy Eyelet Top - Available in white & rose as well.
Straw Sandals - similar

Earrings (shown below)

Which is your favorite way to shop - In store or online?

Vacation Packing Tips

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

Is it just me, or does everyone over pack when going on vacation?
You just never know what mood you will be in, how you are feeling that day, etc.
Today I have a few packing tips for you that will help you stay less stressed when packing for vacation, and will keep your hubby off your back ;)

1. Pick a color theme
I have especially done this when we have to travel out of town for a wedding.
I almost always wear a dress for the wedding that fits the colors of the wedding (without looking like I'm in the wedding).
From there I build my additional outfits needed for the rest of the days.
My dress was brown for a wedding we attended in Michigan, so I selected all outfits and shoes that had a brown base.

Another time (most the time), I picked black as my base.
Most people have black and brown in their wardrobe, so it should be easy to use those.
If you are someone that has a lot of blue, green or any other color - you could use those as your base colors.
The possibilities are endless.

2. Plan out each outfit
If we are going to be gone for 10 days, I plan a full outfit for each day.
That means top & shorts (or dress), underwear, bra, socks (if needed), and shoes.
I even pack them as outfits if I am going somewhere where I have to work out of my suitcase instead of a closet or dresser.

I'm a shorts girl when going somewhere warm for vacation.
If laundry isn't an option, I pack at least one pair of shorts for each day (from take-off to return).
From there I plan a casual top with each of them.
I know I won't be going out to fancy dinners each day, so I pick about 3-4 dressier tops that will also pair with some of the shorts I am bringing.
Don't have enough shorts for each day?

Throw a few dresses into the mix and you are good to go!

3. Limit jewelry and accessories
This one is easy for me because I don't wear a lot of jewelry.
But if you like to, try to stick with inexpensive pieces in case they get lost/taken/broken.
Pair a couple necklaces, bracelets, earrings that go with the majority of the items you are packing so you can mix and match throughout your vacation.
I also try to stick to just a couple of hats or handbags that go with everything.

3. Pick no more than 5 pairs of shoes that can go with the outfits
I try to have the following shoes with me on when going to the beach for vacation.
Sneakers
Flip flops (beach/pool only)
Black and/or brown casual sandals
Nicer pair of sandals that fit my color theme

I used to bring a small laundry basket full of sandals on vacation every year when I first met Mic.
I realized I don't need all those.
Plus, by not packing all those extra shoes it gives you some room in the car or your suitcase to bring home something new :)

These tips are definitely easier when you can predict the weather for where you are going on vacation.

One last tip I have for you...
Always over pack underwear!!!
You will never regret having too many ;)

Thank you so much to Andrea @ Living on Cloud Nine for the idea for this post today :)

Green Vibes | Style My Way

Wednesday, March 11, 2020

Welcome to another week of style.
This week I am changing it up a bit.
Instead of styling a look I found on Pinterest, I just wanted to share some different green looks that you could wear to the office, running errands, to the big St. Patrick's Day parade, etc.

These first two looks are super easy to create!
Most of us have at least one piece of camo clothing in our closet these days.

Other options:
Camo tee, black jeans and a denim jacket
Blue jeans, camo tee and a black jacket

Or you could wear some black denim, a black top and a camo vest or jacket.

Or just a plain tee, some blue jeans and a green military jacket :)

Honestly, you can switch them out anyway you want with what you have in your closet.

If you are heading out for a parade or some green beers, you can't go wrong with a graphic tee!
I paired my Lucky tee with some white denim and my go-to denim jacket.

If you work in a business casual office this next option is perfect for you!
Pair a chambray shirt and striped top with some green jeans or pants.

Darker green denim or pants your speed?
Pair them with a fun gold/yellow top and jacket and you are ready to tackle the day!

When the office calls for something a bit dressier, this dress is perfect!
It comes in so many color options and is available on Prime ;)

Have a green work top?
Just pair it with any of your dress pants in your closet and you are instantly festive for the office.

Other options include some fun holiday socks or a festive scarf :)

Do you make sure you wear green on St. Patrick's Day?
Do you attend any parades or parties?
I would love to hear about it all in the comments below!

Seeing Spots | PinSpiration!

Wednesday, February 12, 2020

Today is a 2 for 1 post!
I'm linking up with Shay & Erika to share some of my winter wardrobe, as well has sharing my latest PinSpiration look.

While this winter hasn't been too bad (🙏 that Phil is correct and spring comes early),
it still has been cold enough here in Ohio for my go-to winter jacket.
I bought this hooded camo jacket a couple of years ago from Abercrombie and it has been one of the best investments I have ever made!

Underneath that jacket has been just about every sweater I own! lol!

When I'm not at work, I am throwing on sweatshirt.

I recently picked up a bunch of leggings from Old Navy and Walmart, so I'm living in those outside of work as well.

Now onto my PinSpiration outfit of the week!
These shoes!

Katy shared these sneakers (only $19!) as a dupe for the pricier Adidas version.
I knew I had items that could easily recreate her look.

Performance Jacket - Similar
Camo Jacket - Similar
Leggings - Currently on sale for $9

But I wasn't done there.
I wanted to recreate a look from someone that wore the Adidas sneakers.

Leggings
Denim Jacket
Sweatshirt - Similar
Hat
Custom Tote

How did I do?
Do you have the original Adidas or the Walmart Dupes?
What does your Winter Wardrobe look like where you live?

Thanks for stopping by today!
And don't forget to link up your style posts below :)
