The Feels | August

Monday, August 31, 2020

Let's hear about all the feels from the month of August!

Favorite Meal?
When X and I went camping with my dad earlier this month, we went to lunch at Dick's on Lake Erie.
You better believe I enjoyed my favorite Lake Erie perch while we were there 😋

Favorite Movie/TV Show/Book?
Not gonna lie...I've actually enjoyed watching Man in the High Castle with Mic.
We just started season 4.
I would have said Big Brother All Stars, but with Janelle sent packing I just don't want to watch anymore 😏

Favorite Activity?
It's been another fairly low-key month around here.
But taking X to soccer practice has been a nice way for me to chill and watch him do his thing ☺️

Favorite Moment?
Finally getting to register X for Lexington flag football!!! 🏈

Goal For September?
That we all get through the month of going back to school and work, plus soccer and football with no issues of any kind 😉

Anything Else That Made August Feel Good?
Ending the month feeling like we are ready for all that September has in store for us ☺️

Friday Favorites Week #35

Friday, August 28, 2020

Friday is here and I am so ready for it!
Linking up with Andrea and Erika for this week's favorites :)

Saturday afternoon we had a cookout at my in-laws house along with my dad and step mom.
It was a sunshiny day, so I picked out a shirt that worked perfectly!

While doing our weekly grocery shopping, I quickly walked through the women's section at Walmart.
They are stocked and ready for fall with some super cute sweaters, sweatshirts, thermals and more!
Not all are online yet, but make sure you check out your local store!
Mine was fully stocked with colors and sizes :)

This week on #TheRealBuild we talked about flooring.
To hear all about how we picked out our flooring head to my Instagram highlights.

On Wednesday it was a 2 for 1 day here on the blog!
I shared my latest #WannabeWednesday look...

And I recapped the month of August in my What's Up Wednesday post!

Yesterday I finally got my act together and hosted my Let's Stay Home series.
It was all about lighting!
Head here to see all the light fixtures we are currently looking at and to give me your feedback :)

Another week coming to a close meant another night of soccer practice.
These boys look better and better each week!

And that is it for this week!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Let's Stay Home | All About Those Lights

Thursday, August 27, 2020

Hello and Happy Thursday!
Welcome to the August edition of Let's Stay Home.

Today I'm diving into my lighting picks.
Why is lighting SO HARD to pick out!
We have had the pendant lights for our dining space and kitchen island picked out, ordered and stored for a good year now.

And we know the lights we are ordering for our exterior, we just have to hit submit on that order.
It's all the other lights that are driving me crazy!

Here is what I'm looking for...

Master Bathroom Sconces
Master Closet Chandelier
Xavier's Bathroom Sconces
Powder Room Sconces
1st Floor Sconces
Laundry Room Chandelier
Foyer Chandelier

I would love your feedback on the styles I am about to share below.
They are all ones we are leaning towards, but just haven't made the final decision.

For the master bathroom we really like this style.
We would have 4 of them since we have a double vanity.

I did know from the very beginning that I wanted some antler chandeliers and decor scattered through the house since we live in the woods.
I think this smaller version would be perfect for our master closet above our island!

Next up are the lights for Xavier's bathroom.
I just haven't found any style that I just love.
So your feedback is greatly appreciated!

With his bathroom being all gray and white, I was thinking of bringing in black sconces to play off the countertop.

I could easily do the same sconces in the powder room on the first floor, use the same as the sconces scattered throughout the first floor, or something entirely different.

Here is one of the options for the first floor sconces.
The tricky part with picking out these lights is that we have 9 of them!
And the space is pretty open, so they need to blend or accent the lights in the kitchen and dining space, as well as the chandelier in the foyer.
It's a tall order to fill!

These guys are GORGEOUS!!!
Not sure they will totally go with what we have picked out so far, but they are 100% our style!!!

I also like the simplicity of this style of light as well (in black).

Decisions! Decisions!

And then I'm thinking two fairly similar antler chandeliers for the foyer and laundry space.
Honestly, I want something different but I haven't been able to find much.
Any suggestions on where to look for a antler chandelier?
Stores, sites, etc. are greatly appreciated!

I am leaning towards these tones for both of the spaces.

So what do you think?
Again, I would love your feedback and suggestions!

And don't forget to link up your home posts as well!

What's Up August!

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

It is time to link up with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday!

What we're eating this week...
Monday - Rigatoni & Garlic Bread
Tuesday - Broccoli Beef & Rice
Wednesday - Tacos & Chipotle Rice
Thursday - Grilled Chicken & Red Skin Potatoes
The Weekend - Who knows!

What I'm reminiscing about...
The first day of school for X over the last few years.

He has grown so much!
While I'm happy he is going back to school soon, I do worry for how different it will be than previous years :/

What I'm loving...
Not doing my hair or make up, or getting dressed beyond a tee and shorts every day :)

What we've been up to...
At the beginning of the month we arrived back home after a week in the Outer Banks!

I got some much needed time with my friend/stylist Kasey :)

And the rest of the month I've been working from home and taking X to soccer practices.

What I'm dreading...
See that What I'm loving question?
That all ends on September 8th 😭😭

What I'm working on...
Not caring so much about all the things.
#sadbuttrue

What I'm excited about...
Some of our floors were installed earlier in the month and I love them!!!

If you missed #TheRealBuild stories yesterday on Instagram all about flooring, don't worry!
They are all saved in my highlights :)

What I'm watching/reading...
Man In The High Castle on Prime.

Amazon.com: Watch The Man In the High Castle - Season 1 | Prime Video

I wasn't going to watch it, but with Mic watching it right next to me I gave in.
We just started the 3rd season.
Anyone else watch this?

And I was totally sucked into Big Brother All Stars when I saw Janelle and Kaysar were on this season!

Big Brother 22' spoilers: Safety Suite winner is Kaysar Ridha ...

Now I can't stop watching!
I am totally on the OG team :)
Are you watching?
Who are your favorites?

What I'm listening to...
My child play video games :/
Other than that, just whatever is on when I'm driving in the car.

What I'm wearing...
Graphic tee, shorts and sandals are on repeat over here.
But I did manage to throw a few outfits together this past month ;)

I recreated one of Erin's looks...

And shared some summer brights and sunshine!

And I found some super cute shoes under $30!

What I'm doing this weekend...
Nothing that I know of :)

What I'm looking forward to next month...
A sense of normalcy.
School starts.
Soccer games and football games begin.
And I decided to host a fun photo challenge on Instagram!
I hope you will join me :)

Let's Do This September!

What else is new...
Earlier in the month we grabbed dinner at our favorite Japanese Steakhouse!
It felt SO GOOD to have a little bit of normalcy for the evening :)

And a couple of weeks ago X and I went camping for the night with my dad and step mom.
Loved being right on Lake Erie!

And that is it for the month of August!

Style My Way | White Shorts

On this edition of Wannabe Wednesday, I picked one of the looks Brooke from Pumps & Push Ups shared in her 5 Ways To Style White Shorts.

You all know I love all things black and white, so when I came across this look I knew I could easily recreate it with items in my closet.

White denim shorts outfits for summer | petite style | petite summer outfits | white shorts outfits

The only thing I truly switched out from Brooke's original look was the shoes.
I don't own any leopard print shoes, so I swapped in my camo sandals for my recreation.
Making my look - Styled My Way 😉

Are my items absolutely identical?
No!
But that is what makes this look more me :)

Want to recreate Brooke and my look?

Here are some similar items to add to your closet...
Chambray/Denim shirt - Blue, Light Blue
Black & White Striped Tee - Old Navy, Walmart
White Shorts - Old Navy, Amazon
Leopard Sandals - Amazon
Necklace - Altard' State

Do you rock white shorts?
Don't forget to link up your style posts below!

Friday Favorites Week #34

Friday, August 21, 2020

Hello Friday!
Joining Andrea and Erika for another week of Friday Favorites.

I kicked off my weekend with a solo trip to Hobby Lobby 🙌
I didn't buy anything, but it felt so good to just walk around by myself and check things out.
I mean look at all this buffalo plaid goodness!!!

And they always have the best football decor!
I can't wait have a pillow like this in our house!

I lied.
I did walk into Big Lots just to pick up my favorite Iced Tea!

And then I swung by the house and saw this...

It didn't rain or have high winds, but the branch just broke off.
The tree is a good 100 - 200 years old, so it might be on its last leg.

While I was there I saw a friend 😉 hanging out on our property.

On Saturday Mic had CE credits to work on, so X and I took advantage and headed north to Lake Erie.
My dad was camping in Port Clinton, so we joined him for the day/night.

We enjoyed the lake while we waited for our table at Doc's.

After eating and taking a drive around, we headed back to the camper for the evening.
We brought those amazing apple donuts from Apple Hill Orchards as a sweet treat :)

And then it was time to hit the pool!

Darkness = Campfire Time!!!

We headed home the next morning to get ready for another week of working from home and soccer practices ;)

On the blog this week I recapped our trip to Norfolk, Virginia and the Outer Banks.

Most are all under $30!!!

And I totally dropped the ball on my home series this week :(
Check back here this coming Thursday for Let's Stay Home :)

And that is it for this week!
We have two more weeks before X heads back to school and I head back to the office!
Did your kiddos start school yet?
Are they going in person or online?

Have a great weekend friends!
