Style My Way | White Shorts

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

On this edition of Wannabe Wednesday, I picked one of the looks Brooke from Pumps & Push Ups shared in her 5 Ways To Style White Shorts.

You all know I love all things black and white, so when I came across this look I knew I could easily recreate it with items in my closet.

White denim shorts outfits for summer | petite style | petite summer outfits | white shorts outfits

The only thing I truly switched out from Brooke's original look was the shoes.
I don't own any leopard print shoes, so I swapped in my camo sandals for my recreation.
Making my look - Styled My Way 😉

Are my items absolutely identical?
No!
But that is what makes this look more me :)

Want to recreate Brooke and my look?

Here are some similar items to add to your closet...
Chambray/Denim shirt - Blue, Light Blue
Black & White Striped Tee - Old Navy, Walmart
White Shorts - Old Navy, Amazon
Leopard Sandals - Amazon
Necklace - Altard' State

Do you rock white shorts?

What I Wore | Accessories Edition

Wednesday, June 7, 2017

Honestly, I should have titled this post accessory edition.
I typically don't wear much jewelry, but when I do it is super delicate/lightweight.
But the other day I threw on these earrings and a couple bracelets and felt really pulled together.

A few days later I threw on a necklace with my plain Jane outfit and again felt pulled together.
Mic even mentioned it to me.

So now I am looking all over Pinterest, Etsy, etc. for cute, kind of classic, delicate, lightweight earrings, necklaces, and bracelets to update my wardrobe.
HELP!!!
I am seriously clueless in this department!

Where do you shop for jewelry?
I guess I am talking more costume like than fine.
What are your favorite Etsy or Instagram shops?

I am currently on the hunt for some low key camo earrings.
I mean, it is totally a neutral in my world :)

Joining the lovely ladies @ The Blended Blog for...

Mommy Styled Wednesday

Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Happy Wednesday Friends!
I figured I would join all the lovely ladies at The Blended Blog for a Fashion post!
I recently ordered another box from Stitch Fix and again had a new stylist.
I was super nervous to see what I was going to get!

My box arrived last week when I was super busy and on my way out the door, but I did steal a quick peek at the style card.
First glance...I like what I see :)

That night I tried things on for Mic and X, so I am going to give you their thumbs up or down too!

THML Baley Embroidery Yoke Knit Top - Navy $54
X - was half up, half down - He liked the navy and white on the bottom, but didn't like the top.
Mic - thumbs down - I could have guessed that. He doesn't like loud patterns of any kind.
I loved the fit of this top, but it was just a bit too busy for me.
In the end, I sold it!
Yep that is right!
I posted it on a board on Facebook and someone else now is wearing and loving it! :)

Papermoon Kathie Kimono - Off White $44
X- again was half up, half down - He liked the little things that looked like X's but nothing else.
Mic - thumbs down of course
I actually really liked the pattern and the colors, but I am not a kimono person.
I like things that are complete if that makes sense.
Thankfully, someone else on that great Facebook board loved it so I sold this one too!

Blu Pepper Kenward V-Neck Top - Blue $28
X - thumbs up! - He liked the "X's" in the top.
Mic - thumbs up - He liked the color of blue and that it was pretty plain :)

(Don't mind the wrinkles on this one, I took it straight out of the box)
I am not normally a dusty blue person, but this was super cute on!
I immediately saw myself pairing it with shorts this summer, or even my white skinny jeans for a night out!
Kept it for me :)

Market & Spruce Adelina Lace Detail Knit Top - Black $54
X - thumbs up - It's black :)
Mic - thumbs up as well

This was love at first sight for me!
I was praying it fit well and it did!
Keeper for sure!

Verse Francine Knit Dress - Navy $48
X - thumbs up
Mic - thumbs up
Love, love, love this dress!
It is super lightweight, great pattern, can be dressed up or down, and can be worn in multiple seasons!
Love navy and white too!
Kept it of course!

So my stylist for this time around was Katie and I think overall she did a great job!
Such a good job that I have another fix arriving this week that I hope is from her as well!

What do you think of my fix this time around?
Have you tried Stitch Fix before?
I absolutely love not having to go shopping for myself!

Fall Photos 2015 | Outfit Ideas

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

Every year I tend to wait until the end of November/early December to get our family photos done.
The main reason is I am cheap.
Well, that is part of the reason.
X's birthday is at the beginning of December so I like to get our family and his birthday photos at the same time.
Kill two birds with one stone kind of thing.
Again, because I am cheap.

However, this year I decided to jump at the chance for a Fall mini session.
The colors of the leaves melt me at this time of year :)
We are heading to Columbus late Saturday afternoon for our time slot and I still have no idea what we are going to wear.
Well, me and mic don't have anything to wear yet.
My little guy is covered :)
Pants/Hat/Sweater/Shoes/Shirt
This whole outfit (shoes included) I ordered from Old Navy and I absolutely love it!
So now I need to figure out what Mic and I are wearing based off of that outfit up there.

Initially when my TOMS wedges I arrived I wanted to make sure they were the shoes I wore, and I would pair them with my skinny navy cords.
I may still do that, but I have no idea what top/sweater to wear, if I should add a scarf, etc.
At the moment I am leaning towards adding a cream/white sweater and my new plaid scarf.

Then there is Mic.
Based on what is currently in his closet, and what will match I have this so far...

And yes, I realize I "had" him in the exact same outfit 2 years ago :(

After looking at that photo, I realize I need to change Mic's sweater at least.

We shall see what we end up with!
Suggestions are welcome :)

WIWW | Little Red Dress

Wednesday, September 23, 2015

I mentioned last week that I swung through Burlington looking for something to wear to my cousin's wedding this past weekend.
That store did not disappoint!
I was in and out within 15 minutes and only spent $21 including tax!
This dress and sandals were perfect for the laid back dress code and feel of the wedding.

Oh, and apparently those sandals look similar to the Tory Burch ones according to one of my cousins.
Mine were $4.98! Not $195 :)
Inventory changes quickly at Burlington, so I couldn't find the dress or sandals on the website.

But I did find a few similar options, but unfortunately none of these have the $14.99 price tag.

Do you ever shop at Burlington?
I would love to hear what great finds you have picked up!

WIWW | Gingham & Leopard

Wednesday, April 8, 2015

Holy week before tax day!
It has been non stop at work for the last couple of days, and I have a feeling that won't stop until the 15th :(
So I apologize to all of you that have left comments, or just other bloggers in general that I haven't had time to read and comment on your posts.
I promise to be a better blogger friend after tax day :)

Keeping things brief today.
With the Spring Style Challenge beginning on Monday, I felt the urge to start pattern mixing again.
Since I work in a business casual office I can't get away with jeans (unless I know no one will be there) so I must wear dress pants most days.
Yesterday I threw on my black ankle pants, melon gingham shirt, leopard flats and an outfit was made :)
So simple. So easy. So pulled together.
Right before I left for work I was about to put on some basic black flats, but then decided to take it up a notch with the leopard flats.
I love the look!
Before the 2014 Spring Challenge I never would have left the house with those two patterns together.
Now I don't think twice about it!

Make sure to check back next Wednesday for the Style Me Bloggers link up.
I will be joining some lovely ladies in showcasing our outfits from each day of the challenge.

Are you joining the challenge this year?
Do you currently mix patterns?

White Jeans after Labor Day

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Yes, you read that correctly!
I love wearing white in the winter months...jeans/dress pants included.
No, I don't wear linen ones...I would literally freeze to death in the negative temps we currently have in Ohio!
But a good quality, thick pair of jeans or pants works really well :)

I have mentioned before that I am super matchy- matchy with my clothing. I really do have a hard time mixing pattens and such.
When I do the colors have to be the same!
That's just me :)
So on Saturday evening we had dinner reservations with some friends to celebrate Valentine's Day kid-free.
Mic and I ventured out into the blizzard that was happening Saturday afternoon to drop X off at my in-laws for the night, and thankfully made it home safely.
Once we were home I received a message that one of the couples had to cancel, and then the next couple decided to stay in as well.
Since we were the only ones that were kid-free, we decided to keep the reservation and have dinner just the two of us.
FYI: By the time we headed out to dinner the blizzard had stopped and the salt/plow trucks were out in full force.

So back to my matchy-matchy comment above...originally I planned on wearing something red for dinner since it was in fact Valentine's Day.
I always have to wear the appropriate colors for the event/holiday/etc.
#justme
But since I know Mic isn't a big fan of red, I opted for another outfit he would like much better.
So mad that this pic came out blurry (it didn't appear that way on my phone).
I loved my hair on Saturday night! Straight, but it had so much body to it!
I am sure it will never happen again :(
I wore my military green top that I picked up at Target a year or so ago, my white jeans (similar), and cognac boots (similar).
Mic loves the military look, so I figured he would like it (he did). :)
Of course I rocked some arm candy too!
I am obsessed with these bracelets (similar and here) and cuff!
I did manage to wear one Valentine color this weekend.
While I am not a pink fan, this super light shade by Essie was perfect :)

Did you venture out for Valentine's Day?
Did you wear red or pink?

One more question before you go.
Any recs for a good sunless tanner? Wipes, lotion, spray, foam, etc.
I need to start getting ready for summer and some upcoming weddings!

Did I Seriously Buy An Aztec Print Top?

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

That title is no joke!
I am still asking myself that question!
When I swung in a local shop a couple weeks ago the owner pulled this Aztec top for me to try.
In my mind I was laughing at the fact that she did not know me at all.
However, I tried on the few things she suggested and the Aztec print top actually worked.
Like, I didn't totally hate the print and I liked how the top fit.
Weird!
Now don't get any ideas on me wearing the Aztec sweaters, wraps, leggings, etc.
I have a feeling this was a one time only deal with this print.
I even bought a necklace that played off the colors of the top.
That is another thing...the colors...so not me!
You will see in a moment what I am talking about.
Some how it all worked.
Enough of the lead up here is my new top and necklace that I finally had enough courage to wear this week to work.
Cream, burgundy, mint, gold, and brown.
I might wear a few of those colors every now and then, but together? So not me!

Similar tops here/here/here
Exact tank here
Exact leggings here - ON SALE!
Boots old - similar here
Necklace - couldn't find a link to a similar one :(

So now I want to know -- Am I the only one not wanting to board the Aztec Print Train?
Do you rock it? If so, in what way?

WIWW | Team Spirit

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

I was running a few errands on Saturday and stopped in a local boutique to see if anything caught my eye.
I ended up leaving with a super soft flannel that was perfect for the Super Bowl.
It is red, white and blue and since I was cheering for the Patriots (I apparently was the only one) it was perfect!
I paired it with my navy tank, favorite distressed jeans and my red wellies.
It took me from the grocery store and doing laundry, to cheering on the Patriots to victory.

Yes, the cheerleader in me must dress in team colors!
If I am attending a game somewhere, cheering from my couch, etc.
I will always be in the colors of the team I am rooting for :)
Similar flannel/exact sold out - same brand jeans/exact tank/limited sizes, other colors available - boots

And yes, I do have a bright orange rug in my kitchen :)

Another thing I am wearing a lot these days and absolutely love are my leather cuff from Farmgirl Paints and new cushion cut bracelet from Tara Lynn's Boutique.
FYI: Farmgirl Paints is currently open! If you want to order yourself or someone else an awesome cuff do it now!
This shop will close on Friday, February 6th at 6pm EST so get your orders in ASAP!

And one more thing I have been working on curling my hair with my flat iron.
I don't want curls, just waves, but it is tough!
I swear half my head will have a nice wave to it while the other side gets a weird kink and then goes completely straight.
This was from yesterday....I am improving, but at a snail's pace :(
Do you use a flat iron to curl your hair?
Any tips or tricks for me?

What have you been rockin' this past week?
Do you wear the colors of the team you are cheering for regardless if they are your actual team?
Where do you shop for fun bracelets?
I believe I am now obsessed and keep adding to my collection :)

And a special shout out to my mom!!!
Happy 1 year Anniversary to you and Jeff :)
Love you!!!

WIWW | Gone Duck Hunting

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

No, I am not really going duck hunting!
I have never been hunting in any way, shape or form....and I am not going to start now.
However, I do have a strong love for all things camo.
And I gravitate to all things Duck Dynasty - the show, the books, etc.

Monday was an unexpected day off for me.
X still went to daycare, so I was able to take the day to get some things done.
That turned into a whole lotta nothing since I was sick all weekend :(
I did manage to get dressed for the day, run a couple of errands, and have dinner at my in-laws to celebrate Mic's birthday :)
The first thing my FIL said to me when I walked in the door was if I was about to go duck hunting.

Of course, I totally forgot to take pictures of my outfit.
Let's be honest...who really wants to take photos of themselves with no make up, and lots of cold meds in their system?
Not me!
But I did love my outfit and wanted to at least feature what I wore.

Before, I get to my outfit I have to mention that I finished The Duck Commander Family book I started on New Year's Day.
I am not one to read books very often, I don't usually have time for it.
But I have read a chapter or two when I walk on the treadmill.
I loved it! I actually started reading The Women of Duck Commander right away!

Back to my outfit!
I was rockin' my favorite camo baseball hat, my black fleece, a coral tee, my camo jeans, and my black Hunter boots.
I can see where my FIL would get the idea I was going hunting with all that camo and those boots, but that is where the idea ends.
This outfit was so comfy and easy to run errands in on a sunny, but wet January day.
camo hat/fleece/jeans/boots

Are you a camo fan?
Do you enjoy the Roberston family and Duck Dynasty?
Have you read any of the books?

Ohio | WIWW

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Lately I have been in a funk :(
I wear the same outfits over and over again for work.
My evening and weekend uniform has turned into yoga pants and tees!
Who am I?
I think this cold weather and the sickness that seems to never end in our house has really taken a toll on my outfit selection.

Today I bring you super comfy, super laid back mommy style :)
back in black, mommystyle
I rock this ACDC hat almost every Sunday morning when I hit up the grocery store.
It is my go to hat for everything!
It is black and white, and 100% me!

The Home T, midwest
One of my favorite tees to wear is this super soft Ohio one from The Home T.
Since I only own one OSU item, I sported this during the game on Monday night.
Perfect if you ask me :)

winter, rain, black
And the final item I have been wearing every single day this past week are my trusty Hunter boots.
While they aren't the warmest winter boots in the world, they keep my pants from dragging and look super cute.
In fact I have been styling my work outfits around them so I don't have to change out of them :)

Do you have a typical "mom" outfit you wear?
Do you have a favorite hat or tee you wear all the time?

Linking up with Sarah, Alison, and Shanna.
Make sure to check out what they are wearing this week too!
I am sure it is much more fashionable than me! Especially this week! :)

Going for Gold | WIWW

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

Honest moment here...I really need to do laundry.
Like I have been barely coming up with things to wear to work for the last few weeks!
I think I get home from work and just get busy making dinner, and the rest of our nightly routine.
Eek!
Must do laundry!

Anyways, here are the couple of clean items I have had to wear this past week.
Another honest moment, it is basically accessories today! lol!

I think my love for Thin Mints and Thin Mint coffee creamer has carried over into my outfit choices! lol!
I wore this mint scarf and mint striped shirt on Monday with my gray cords.
Similar shirt/scarf/pants
While I like to mix up patterns and colors these days, every now and then I have to get back to my roots and be the matchy-matchy person that I truly am :)

I exchanged a scarf awhile back at Kohl's and picked up this gold one instead. I don't wear much gold at all.
I am usually a silver or platinum girl, but I have been liking gold more and more these past few months.
I even picked up these awesome bracelets at Charming Charlie last weekend.
I can now predict my future. lol!
I see myself in lots and lots of bracelets and cuffs over the next year :)
Thanks for turning me on to the arm party Andrea! ;)
Other than that I have been sporting my heaviest winter coat, boots, gloves, etc.
It is cold in Ohio these days.

So what have you been wearing this past week?
Are you still rockin' fun Fall clothes, or are you bundled up to stay warm?
Where do you shop for fun accessories? I would love to find some fun headbands too!
