Style My Way | Rainbow Nails

Wednesday, June 10, 2020

I love mixing up polish colors, but due to working in a business casual office I don't get to have as much fun with polish.
All this working from home stuff lets me branch out a bit!
I recently saw someone on Instagram with a fun mix of summer colors on their nails (I can't remember who) and knew I wanted to do something similar.
By no means am I am expect at doing my nails, I have old lady hands, and cuticles that are just 😱
I am the type of person that as soon as my nails get past the tip of my finger I am itching to bite them off trim them ;)
I envy all you ladies who can work and do things with longer nails.

Side note: I had nails put on for prom one year and as soon as the dance was over, not the evening, I ripped them all off.
They drove me crazy!
Hence why I had a basic manicure the day before my wedding and then ended up painting them myself.

Back to those fun nails I mentioned before.

I would love to try the tie dye look, but baby steps.

Rainbow Nail Designs To Try In 2020

So I grabbed some of my summer polishes and created a bit of cotton candy rainbow.

Remember, old lady hands here ;)

Here are the polishes I used.

Sally Hansen - Royal Hue, Beet-ing Heart, Jam Sesh, Limestone

Do you try any fun nail trends or do you keep it prim and proper?
What are your favorite brands of nail polish?
I always tend to gravitate to Sally Hansen because they go on so well!

Thanks for stopping by today!

White Jeans after Labor Day

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Yes, you read that correctly!
I love wearing white in the winter months...jeans/dress pants included.
No, I don't wear linen ones...I would literally freeze to death in the negative temps we currently have in Ohio!
But a good quality, thick pair of jeans or pants works really well :)

I have mentioned before that I am super matchy- matchy with my clothing. I really do have a hard time mixing pattens and such.
When I do the colors have to be the same!
That's just me :)
So on Saturday evening we had dinner reservations with some friends to celebrate Valentine's Day kid-free.
Mic and I ventured out into the blizzard that was happening Saturday afternoon to drop X off at my in-laws for the night, and thankfully made it home safely.
Once we were home I received a message that one of the couples had to cancel, and then the next couple decided to stay in as well.
Since we were the only ones that were kid-free, we decided to keep the reservation and have dinner just the two of us.
FYI: By the time we headed out to dinner the blizzard had stopped and the salt/plow trucks were out in full force.

So back to my matchy-matchy comment above...originally I planned on wearing something red for dinner since it was in fact Valentine's Day.
I always have to wear the appropriate colors for the event/holiday/etc.
#justme
But since I know Mic isn't a big fan of red, I opted for another outfit he would like much better.
So mad that this pic came out blurry (it didn't appear that way on my phone).
I loved my hair on Saturday night! Straight, but it had so much body to it!
I am sure it will never happen again :(
I wore my military green top that I picked up at Target a year or so ago, my white jeans (similar), and cognac boots (similar).
Mic loves the military look, so I figured he would like it (he did). :)
Of course I rocked some arm candy too!
I am obsessed with these bracelets (similar and here) and cuff!
I did manage to wear one Valentine color this weekend.
While I am not a pink fan, this super light shade by Essie was perfect :)

Did you venture out for Valentine's Day?
Did you wear red or pink?

One more question before you go.
Any recs for a good sunless tanner? Wipes, lotion, spray, foam, etc.
I need to start getting ready for summer and some upcoming weddings!

Winter Nails

Saturday, January 24, 2015

I don't know about you, but in the Winter months my hands, nails, and especially cuticles always get super dry.
It is truly a good thing I wear gloves all Winter!
However, I have been trying to take better care of myself in general and that includes my hands and nails.
I love to have polish on my fingers. It just makes me feel so much more pulled together!

Today I am bringing you some tips on how to winterize your nails so you don't have to keep your gloves on at all times :)

Oh cuticles! You are were my worst enemy! Not anymore!
Those tips are great!
And now that we have our nails in tip top shape, let's add a fun Winter color to them!

I am loving the new Winter shades from Julep
I have to say the Ilsa and Kiki shades are my faves! I think the movie Frozen has completely rubbed off on me!
All of these shades actually would work well for all you and your little Frozen lovers!

The only tip I would add would  be to always keep on a good hand cream with you.
I work in an office that has people coming and going throughout the day, and then I head home to a 3 year old that I swear hoards germs like his life depends on it!
Because of all that contact with germs, I am washing my hands a lot!
(My skin and hands are way too sensitive to use sanitizer gel.)
Thankfully, I always keep hand cream in my purse, desk drawer, bathroom counter, etc. so my hands will be soft and moisturized all the time.

And if my hands really need some extra softness, I slather on a thick layer of lotion and throw on some gloves right as I am heading to bed.
I wake up with super soft hands every time!

What are some of your tips to keep your hands and nails in shape during the cold Winter months?
What is your favorite Julep shade?
Do you use a special hand cream during the Winter months?

**I was contacted by Julep to write about their nail tips and new colors, however I was not compensated in any way for writing this post. All opinions are my own.**
