Linking up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

What We're Eating This Week...
Mic and I decided this week was a good one to start our 10 Day Cleanse.
So that means we are eating CLEAN!

What I'm Reminiscing About...
Seeing silly pictures of this little guy pop up on Facebook!

How was this just 4 years ago?

What I'm Loving...
I understand this is overkill at this point, and I am truly sorry.
But I am loving looking at all these house things and picking them out!
Yes, it is completely stressing me out at times but it is still so much fun!
I am so grateful I get to be doing this :)

What We've Been Up To...
Trying to finalize home plans, materials, appliances, etc.

Visiting with friends before they move out of state,

and hosting a wine tasting at my house!

What I'm Dreading...
Nothing at the moment :)

What I'm Working On...
Too much! lol!
I am currently finishing up this post,
messaging with a friend on FB since I didn't get to say goodbye :(
and trying to get some "real" work done :/

What I'm Excited About...
We are one month closer to our home remodel!!!!
But OH MY GOODNESS is it stressful!
Any tips on how to get through it all are greatly appreciated!

What I'm Watching/Reading...
Still trying to catch up on This Is Us,

I watched a little bit of the Olympics but not nearly as much as I thought :(,

tons of basketball videos on YouTube with X,

and Mic and I are slowly getting through season 7 of Games of Thrones.

I try to read, but don't have a whole lot of time for it :/
I am keeping up with my Jesus Always book every day,
and I am trying to keep up with my 100 days to Brave book.

What I'm Listening To...
A little of this and a little of that.
Does anyone remember this one?

I just love the Bobby Bones Show in the morning!
He brought Heath Sanders on the show last week after hearing this...
SO GOOD!

And Hanson was recently on there too!

What I'm Wearing...

For a brief moment this month the weather was SO nice so I pulled out my new Vince Camuto dupes from Target!
Yes, I need a pedicure!

I have also been trying to wear more of my closet recently, so I threw on a top and blazer I got from Stitch Fix a couple of years ago.

Other than that I am still rockin' jeans, boots, sweaters/sweatshirts and graphic tees when I am not at work.

What I'm Doing This Weekend...
X has another basketball game on Friday night,

and then he has a birthday party at the trampoline park that I am taking him to.
#momlife #alwaysachaffuer

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month...
One of my favorite holidays of the year...St. Patrick's Day!!!!

and March Madness for college basketball #tomboy

What Else Is New...
X has recently taken an interest in golf and playing the guitar, so I am currently looking into signing him up for lessons both :)

And there is this...

Bonus Question:
What's your family's favorite Spring Break destination?
We don't go anywhere for Spring Break because Mic and I have to work.
When I was a kid we went to Myrtle Beach a couple times over Spring Break, but once I got into to high school that stopped because of softball season.
The coach made it clear at tryouts that if you went away for Spring Break, that you wouldn't be on the team anymore.
My dad was an assistant coach for my high school teams (after I graduated he became the head coach for a bit), so I knew we weren't going anywhere.
Back to the question at hand....I would have to say Myrtle Beach is still pretty high on the list.
It just has so much to offer for all ages!

Play by Sephora | February 2018

Tuesday, February 27, 2018

Happy Tuesday!
Before I get into my post for the day I have to wish the most amazing, beautiful, kind hearted woman in the world a Very Happy Birthday!
I truly hope you have the best day and year Mom!
I love you! ❤️❤️❤️

I received another Play by Sephora box last week and I couldn't wait to show you all the goodies inside!

Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil in Cote D'azur $23
A long-lasting, richly pigmented eyeliner that glides on smoothly and is easy to use.

Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel in 04 Perfect Nude $12
A light-reflecting lip gloss in a nude shade for standout lips that look plump and shiny.

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in M500 $22
A high-pigment lipstick known for its legendary staying power in a striking deep wine shade for the ultimate impact.

First Aid Beauty Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask $32
A revitalizing jelly mask that's packed with ginger and turmeric to comfort and brighten stressed-out skin.

Peter Thomas Roth FIRMx Peeling Gel $48
An exfoliating gel powered by multiple fruit enzymes to reveal a glowy complexion.

BONUS: Tory Burch Love Relentlessly $30-$118
A sparkling fragrance of pink pepper, patchouli, and dewy rose that captures the first butterflies of love.

And here are the eyeliner, lipstick and gloss colors...

My First Thoughts
The eyeliner pencil is super easy to use.
It is a very vibrant shade of blue though, so not sure where I would wear it.
Biggest downside: I lightly marked my hand with it to see the actual color and the tip completely broke off :(

The Sephora lip gloss in nude is right up my alley!
I have worn it once already and it is the perfect neutral!

The rouge lipstick seems to be very good quality, but extremely dark for me :(
When I opened it I immediately thought of Sarah though :)

I haven't tried the peeling mask or the gel wash, but I will be adding them to my skincare routine later this week to tryout.

And finally the Tory Burch scent is probably fine for most.
Honestly, I didn't even smell it yet!
I just don't wear perfume, so it will go into my stash of giveaway items :)

Do you receive a Play by Sephora subscription?
If so, did you receive the same items?
What do you think of them?

Have any of you tried any of these products before?

Spread the Love Exchange

Monday, February 26, 2018

When The Blended Blog posted about their Spread the Love gift exchange I couldn't sign up fast enough!

Instead of being a secret exchange, we were assigned a partner and you were able to get to know them a bit better before sending some accessory love their way :)
This is the what I received in the package from Regine...

Such a sweet little note and look at those goodies :)
That nail polish (shade - Info Red) bottle alone screams VANESSA!
And if I don't have a hat on, you better believe me hair is in a messy bun at some point of the day!
I am excited to try this bun styling tool (shade - blonde) soon!
Thank you so much Regine for the thoughtful goodies!

And thank you to The Blended Blog for hosting a fun exchange!
Now head over to Regine's blog to check out what I sent her!
And check out the TBB to see what everyone received in the exchange :)

This, that & the Other

Friday, February 23, 2018

It is Friday!
This week felt way too long!
Maybe it was because X had a make up day on Monday,
maybe it is because I haven't been sleeping well,
or maybe it is because we have experienced all four seasons in one week.
#lifeinohio

Either way, I am moving and ready to link up with Erika, Narci & Andrea for...

We started our weekend off with another basketball game for X.

My mom and step dad came down this past week, so we grabbed some dinner with them after the game to visit before they headed back north.
While we waited for our table, my child decided to take a million and one pictures on my mom's phone.
#sucker

On Saturday, I was a grocery shopping and cleaning machine.
A few months ago I agreed to host a wine tasting party at my house.
What was I thinking?
Despite not being a big wine drinker myself, we all had so much fun!
You can check out my recap and review here :)

Another bright side of killing yourself to get your house in order for a party...it has stayed semi clean all week!
Granted I now I have a mountain of laundry to tackle as I type this, but I am still calling it a win!

So that lovely groundhog came out earlier this month and declared for yet another year that we would have 6 more weeks of winter.
Living in Ohio I expect it.
This week has been slightly unusual.
As I type this we are back to temps in the 30's and 40's, but check out how it was on Tuesday...
The high was 70*!!!!
I threw on my opened toe booties (despite needing a pedicure) and enjoyed the day!

I have not been able to sleep well this week, but I have been getting some good workouts in at home.
And, both of my guys fell asleep so I was able to watch my favorite Olympic events that I recorded :)

Social Media Favorites

Please excuse the language on this one, but it is so true!

And this was actually one of my posts this week 😒

I also shared some of my favorite "On Trend" pieces from Old Navy this week.
Look at how cute this jacket is!

And to that is a wrap!
Looking forward to more basketball tonight and a fairly low key weekend.
Do you have any big plans?

On Trend with Old Navy

Thursday, February 22, 2018

I was scrolling online at Old Navy and decided to click on the "On Trend" option to see what items popped up.
Remember, I am not one for things that are too terribly trendy.
I like to stick to the classics.
Plus, I am cheap!
So I need the clothing items I purchase to span from work to play as much as possible.
A lot of the items I came across are classic pieces which kind of surprised me.

**Disclosure**
These are just the items I thought were cute.
I am not being paid or reimbursed or working with Old Navy on this post.
But if you are reading Old Navy...I would love to work with you ;)

The first item that jumped out at me is this navy striped cardigan.
It looks like such a great year round piece really.
I could easily see myself wearing it to work, with jeans, and even shorts in the Spring/Summer.
It also comes in this gorgeous orange shade as well!!!
<Insert all the heart eye emojis>

This striped top just screams my name!
I feel like I could throw it on with some shorts and a hat and enjoy a day on some one's boat :)
Anyone have a boat I could join you on?

I have a serious love for all things Navy in the Spring time.
This sueded crossbody bag is adorable!

It really shouldn't be any surprise that I would pick a jacket ;)
Especially a moto jacket!
In Navy ;)
It actually comes in a wide variety of other colors as well :)

I am not typically a jumpsuit/romper person, but this just looks so comfortable!
And it could easily be dressed up or down :)

While I do like to wear dresses more in the Spring/Summer, I am not a fan of floral print.
This dress seems to suck me in regardless of the print.
Again, a great piece that I could wear to work or for fun :)

These jeans look so comfy to me!
Yes, I said jeans and comfy in the same sentence.
You know I would take a pair of jeans any day of the week over leggings/yoga pants!
And that splattered paint detail sucks me right in too!

I am loving the fact that we are slowly moving away from skinny jeans.
<And all the big bottom/curvy girls said AMEN!>
These cropped flares with the cut hem are so stinkin' cute!

I haven't spent money on workout clothes in awhile!
Mainly because I workout at home so nobody sees me.
But these mesh panel crops are making me think I need to up my game.
And maybe even take a class outside of the house every now and then ;)

Have you checked out Old Navy recently?
What are some of your favorite items they are offering?
