My Survival Kit

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

I was recently contacted by Man Crates and asked the following question...

We aren't talking about actual survival items, but personal things that mean a lot to you, a food item you can't live without, etc.

I honestly thought writing this post was going to be a piece of cake.
Then I started thinking about all the things I love in life.
How could I possibly narrow it down to just 5 items?!?!

But at the end of the day I did it!

First up are my Honorable Mention items...

1. Superman Ice Cream is the only one for me :)
Since I live without it all winter, it just didn't make the cut for my kit.
These things make having a tan year round a breeze!
But there were other items I needed more.
3. Dole Dark Chocolate Strawberry Dippers have quickly become my go-to nightly snack.
4. Goody hair ties are pretty much a necessity when you have long hair.
5. A 3 way from Skyline Chili!
A glorious plate of al dente' pasta covered with Skyline Chili and a mound of cheddar cheese. I quite possibly could eat this for every meal of the day and be just fine :)

However, there were 5 items that just blew those guys out of the water when it comes to what I need, have to have, crave, etc!!!
In no particular order...

The only coffee for me is Starbucks.
Especially when it is Pumpkin Spice Latte time!
Which basically means every day from September to whenever they run out of that deliciousness!

My adult beverage of choice!
By itself or mixed with root beer it is simply delicious!!!

 ChapStick. In cherry.
No other lip balm, gloss, etc. will do for me!
I must have a radio to be able to listen to music daily!
Country, Pop, R&B, Rap, Rock, Heavy Metal, etc., etc., etc.
And if it was 1985 I would totally walk around with this thing on my shoulder rockin' out!

A big screen TV with access to all the Cleveland Browns football games.
I love the NFL!
I could watch games all day long!
Well, maybe not the Steelers, but all the other teams are fine :)

In conclusion, I realize that all I really need to get by in life is some tasty beverages, good music, and football!
Of course all while having some super soft lips! lol!

Now it is your turn!
What are 4-5 things that are in your survival kit?

Favorite Things Party

Tuesday, July 29, 2014

It is that time once again to link up your favorite things under $10!

Make sure to check out Andrea & Erika's blogs to see what items they are sharing today!
I honestly just love linking up with these fellow moms!

My favorite thing this month is actually something I received in my June Ipsy Glam Bag.
The Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray is just the bees knees people!
I have been looking for a spray that gives my hair the right amount of wave without making it crunchy or wet looking.
This is perfect!
You can purchase it at most drugstores, and I picked up mine at Walgreen's.
And you know what?
They had a sale going on...buy one, get one free!
Sweet!
I picked up two bottles of my dream spray for under $10 total (regular price is about $9 each)!
Online it is currently listed for $6.64!!! What a steal!

I used this spray all week when we were on vacation!
Heck, I use it about every day at home too!
It is so easy to spray onto damp or dry hair.
Just spray, scrunch a bit, and go!

I just love to use this spray all the time!
And I think you will too :)

What is your favorite beauty find under $10?

The Weekend & A Recipe

Monday, July 28, 2014

Let's get right to it!

Friday night we headed up north for a high school grad party on the east side of Cleveland. I truly can't tell you the last time I was at one of these, so I was amazed by how grown up it was!
They had a table full of salad, chicken, and pasta. But the best part was they were making pizzas and stromboli to your liking!
Made fresh on the spot in a giant outdoor pizza oven!
It was fantastic!
On top of that they had a full bar with specialty cocktails, and even slushie machines for the under 21 crowd.
It was a cool, relaxed setting.
WOW! I am getting old when I can say that about a high school grad party! lol!
 Oh well!
I was busy enjoying myself instead of taking any pictures :( #badblogger

Saturday morning I took in a booty barre class, and then headed back home to nap with X while Mic did some office work.
I found a super simple Blueberry Cobbler recipe on Pinterest, and since we live right down the road from The Blueberry Patch I thought it was perfect!
4 ingredients people! ~ Yellow cake mix, sugar, butter, and blueberries!
YUM!
Linking up this recipe with Andrea @ Momfessionals for Recipe Club :)

X loves the "Blueberry Man" at the Blueberry Patch :)

We spent our evening hanging out with a wonderful group of friends, eating some super yummy walleye, and singing to some live music.
It was a great night as always :)
This was after we all ate!
We were lucky enough to take some home with us :)

Sunday was lazy, yet productive.
Does that even make sense?
I hit up Target and Kroger, got lots of laundry done, and even made a quick trip to Walmart for a couple toy bins for X.
It was a wonderful Sunday!

Looking forward to another great week and weekend!

How was your weekend?
Did you take any trips out of town?
Do you have a small group of friends you get together with?

Friday Five

Friday, July 25, 2014

Another week has come and gone.
That means one thing (well at least in the blogging world)...
It is time for my Friday Five!

Linking up with some of my favorite ladies today

Momfessionals

{one}
X and I had a great time on our (not so, but we try) Annual Cook Camping Trip.
We played cars, we swam, we ate s'more's, we camped!
Tantrums and all I think it was a successful weekend :)

#flashbackfriday X ready to enjoy his first fire #spring2012

{two}
I snagged some great deals so far during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
Prices don't go up until August 4th, so you still have time to shop and score some awesome items.
Post is coming soon :)
I did mention last week that I snatched up these ankle booties and I LOVE them!
I will be rockin' these bad boys quite a bit this Fall :)

#flashbackfriday My very first item I purchased from Nordstrom (just last year!) Olivia Moon Oatmeal Blazer - Sorry no longer available :(

{three}
My child is more fearless than I would like him to be!
That is my 2.5yo swimming in the deep end with no help!
He only is allowed in when one of us is with him and he must have his puddle jumper on. However, the kid kicks his little legs like crazy and moves himself across the length of the pool all by himself! He also just jumps or slides right off that big turtle float with no help. To say I have my hands full the older he gets is a complete understatement!
It could be worse, so I will take it :)

#flashbackfriday X's first time in the pool :)

{four}
Football season is only 16 days away!!!

Browns training camp starts tomorrow and I am hoping to get up to Berea to take in a practice with X.

#flashbackfriday X's first time at training camp :)

{five}

We are headed up north tonight for a high school graduation party.
I can't remember the last time I was at one of those! lol!
Either way it should be fun right?

And now I leave you with the best #flashbackfriday photo of them all today!
My friend Missy and I fresh out of our high school graduation ceremony. Yes, that is me with braces. Yes, that is the only day in my life my hair actually stayed curled. And yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you...that photo does say 1997 :)

So what were your favorite things this week?
I would love to see your flashback photos!

July Ipsy Glam Bag

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

My July Ipsy Glam Bag arrived while I was away camping, so it was a great little treat to come home to :)
The theme this month is...Sensationally Sun Kissed.

While I am not a fan of pink, the bag is a pretty cute style.

Here is what I received...

Lavilin Jojoba Gel Cream (retail $21)
I will be slathering this cream on after my next workout!

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8 (retail $11.99)
I don't usually use tanning oil because I usually don't have much time to be outside getting my tan on :( However, we are heading to a friend's house this weekend for a fish fry and swimming...so I am hoping to give this a try then.

bareMinerals 5in1 BB advanced performance cream eyeshadow in Divine Wine (retail $18)
I love all things bareMinerals so I was super excited to get this in my bag! This is my first time using a cream eyeshadow so I wasn't sure what to expect. It went on evenly and a little bit goes a long way. The color looks really dark, but once applied it faded to a more subtle shade of mauve-ish purple.
Now to see how long it lasts!

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm in Pretty Pink (retail $14)
I tested out this balm and it goes on really easy and super smooth. I think it is more of a lip stain on me, so I added gloss over top for a slight sheen. It stays on really well!
The pink is just a bit too pink for me honestly. The color is nice, but I would prefer something a bit more subtle.

Pur Minerals Big Look Waterproof Mascara (retail $20)
I use mascara every day for work, and a lot of the time I wear it on weekends too.
I tried this one this morning while getting ready for work. The brush seemed a little odd compared to the normal ones I use, but it went on easily and didn't clump.

Do you receive a Glam Bag from Ipsy each month?
I would love to hear what you received in the comments below!

Click here to see my January, February, March, April, May & June Glam Bags :)

For $10 a month you receive 4-5 products in a new and fun makeup bag each month.
Usually 2 of the products are full size versions and the rest are sample or purse size.
Click here if you are interested in signing up!
You will answer a series of questions when signing up to make sure you are receiving items you would be interested in.
It is super easy!
And it is super fun to receive a new bag full of goodies each month :)
