November Ipsy Glam Bag

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

I have been so busy that I totally forgot to post my November Ipsy Glam Bag!
Busy to the fact that I have only tried one of the products and I have already received my December bag!

So when I started this post, I hadn't tried virtually any of it.
I made it my mission to try at least part of the items over the weekend so I could tell you about them.
#thoughtfulblogger :)

I haven't actually tried this one. I mean do you see how dark that baby is?
I have a felling this needs to be reserved for a night out on the town vs. work!

So after I starting writing this post, I went back and tried all the products.
OMG! This stuff is CRAZY dark!
I put a super duper small dot on my lips and they were stained a deep red.
After a bit of scrubbing I was able to remove that hint of color.
Phew, that will be going in the giveaway pile for sure!

I have been wanting to pick up a purple eye liner for awhile now, so this was perfect showing up in my bag.
It has a shimmer to it that gives your eyes an extra pop!
Perfect hazel eyed peeps :)

Love the shade and shimmer of this liner once I tried it out!

I am not a big highlighter person, maybe I should be, so this is just so so for me.
Maybe it is because I don't really know how to use a highlighter.
I will hold onto it though for an evening out.

Are you sensing I need an evening out? lol!

I had already declared my love for the Marc Anthony Beach Waves Spray during the summer, so I had a feeling I was going to like this hairspray the moment I opened my bag. Sure enough I do!
It has a great smell and just the right amount of hold for me.

This shade is perfect for me.
I usually wear browns, creams, etc. so this base goes really well with those.
I haven't tried it for all day wear, but the little bit I used makes me claim this one a keeper!

So what did you receive in your Ipsy bag?

October Ipsy Glam Bag

Tuesday, October 28, 2014

My Ipsy glam bag arrived a couple of weeks ago,
but I decided to try out the products this time around before revealing the goods.

As you can see from the card above, the theme this month is Beauty Candy.
So here is what I received...

This shade is spot on, and the formula is great for a matte finish.
It goes on really smooth. The only downside is that it isn't a gloss.
It is definitely a keeper, but with gloss over top for sure :)

I fell in love with this brand when they sent me their mud mask back in February. Cleansing cloths can be iffy for me, but these are amazing! They remove every last drop of makeup from my day, and don't dry out my skin!
WINNER! I will be getting more of these!

You really get a lot of shadow in this package, but I am just not a dark shadow girl :(
I might keep it around for a smokey eye for the holidays or a night out, but it definitely isn't an every day look for me.

Figs & Rouge Hand Cream in Rose Berry $6.56
This is a great hand cream, but the scent is a bit strong for me.
I wish I would have received the vanilla one to test out instead.

Ipsy must have known my hair is in dire need of some lovin'!
Normally my hair doesn't look so stressed out, but these days it is looking pretty rough!
X still twists his adorable little fingers into my hair every night to fall asleep. Meaning I wake up with some seriously tangled bedhead!
Yesterday it took me 10 minutes to comb through the knots in my hair after my shower :(
While I know this balm probably isn't a miracle worker, I hope it can at least help with the dullness factor.

Update: I used this hair balm last night after my shower. My hair feels so soft and healthy this morning! Love it!

What did you receive in your Ipsy bag?
I am thinking of making a switch for 2015.
Any suggestions on monthly subscriptions I should check out?

And remember that red lipstick/gloss I received last month that was a bit too dark for me?
Well my foxy friend Sarah in Cali traded with me :)
Here is the new shade...
This shade is much more me!
Thanks again for trading with me Sarah!

September Ipsy Glam Bag

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

Just when I thought I was going to give up on Ipsy, they send me a bag that I love and products that are right up my alley!
This month the bag theme is

Mitchell & Peach Luxury Hand Cream ~ 17 euros
This hand cream feels so rich, yet not greasy.
My hands get really dry in the Fall and Winter months so I always have a purse size lotion with me. It is great!

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss Stick in Love Affair $19
I am a lip gloss and balm person and this formula was great!
They only thing I didn't like was the color :(
It is a great shade of red, but a bit too dark for me.

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush $6.99
The only makeup brushes I have are the ones that came with any of the Bare Minerals products I have purchased.
I am excited to try this one out.
Having an additional eye shadow brush is great for my travel bag too!

Pacifica Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil in Gun Metal $11
This is the third product I have received from Pacifica and it doesn't disappoint on color.
I don't wear gray on my eyes too often, but I am willing to change things up and try a smoky eye from time to time.

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser $13.99
I fell in love with the face lotion I received from them and this cleanser is just as heavenly :)

Overall I am pleased with what I received this month.
While the colors weren't exactly what I had hoped for in the gloss and eye pencil, I do like the products.
Big step up from last month!

August Ipsy Glam Bag

Wednesday, September 10, 2014

This bag started off on a bad foot for me and only continued to get worse :(
I received my confirmation email early in the month of August and waited and waited for the package to arrive.
When it finally did...I received a mascara and the monthly card!

That was it!
I immediately contacted Ipsy with a photo of what I received.
They got back to me pretty quick and a new package was on its way to me with all the products I was missing.

Here is what I received this month...
This bag is one of my favorites!
Love the orange and white! And the polka dots...Oh My! :)

Absolute Lip Balm in Green Apple (retail $5.99 duo pack)
Lord & Berry Silk Kajal Kohl Eye Pencil (retail $15 full size)
Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Eye Pencil in Plushie (retail $20 full size)
Coastal Scents Forever Blush Sample Duo - Fresh & Elegant (retail $7.95 full size)
Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion skin exfoliant (retail $78 for 2oz.)

The original envelope included
Urban Decay Perversion Mascara (retail $22).
And my Glam Room stated I received
Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner (retail $45 for 1oz.), but I received the skin exfoliant instead :(

Other than the lip balm all the products were sample size.
I am not a big black or colored eye liner girl, nor do I wear blush very often. They will get added to my makeup drawer for a trial at some point, but probably not anytime soon.

I did receive a peek of my September bag and it looks to be much better. If the peek is different from the actual bag I might just let this subscription go :(

July Ipsy Glam Bag

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

My July Ipsy Glam Bag arrived while I was away camping, so it was a great little treat to come home to :)
The theme this month is...Sensationally Sun Kissed.

While I am not a fan of pink, the bag is a pretty cute style.

Here is what I received...

Lavilin Jojoba Gel Cream (retail $21)
I will be slathering this cream on after my next workout!

Hang Ten Dark Tanning Oil SPF 8 (retail $11.99)
I don't usually use tanning oil because I usually don't have much time to be outside getting my tan on :( However, we are heading to a friend's house this weekend for a fish fry and swimming...so I am hoping to give this a try then.

bareMinerals 5in1 BB advanced performance cream eyeshadow in Divine Wine (retail $18)
I love all things bareMinerals so I was super excited to get this in my bag! This is my first time using a cream eyeshadow so I wasn't sure what to expect. It went on evenly and a little bit goes a long way. The color looks really dark, but once applied it faded to a more subtle shade of mauve-ish purple.
Now to see how long it lasts!

Pixi Beauty Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm in Pretty Pink (retail $14)
I tested out this balm and it goes on really easy and super smooth. I think it is more of a lip stain on me, so I added gloss over top for a slight sheen. It stays on really well!
The pink is just a bit too pink for me honestly. The color is nice, but I would prefer something a bit more subtle.

Pur Minerals Big Look Waterproof Mascara (retail $20)
I use mascara every day for work, and a lot of the time I wear it on weekends too.
I tried this one this morning while getting ready for work. The brush seemed a little odd compared to the normal ones I use, but it went on easily and didn't clump.

Do you receive a Glam Bag from Ipsy each month?

June Ipsy Glam Bag

Wednesday, June 25, 2014

My June Ipsy Glam Bag arrived a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE It!
The theme this month is "Pretty in Paradise".
Perfect for our upcoming beach vacation :)

Check out the Rebecca Minkoff bag...super cute!

Now let's get right to it and see what I got this month!

be a bombshell Lash Out Mascara in Intense Black (retail $15)
I am always a fan of mascara...especially a basic black or brown.
This goes on with ease and doesn't make my eyelashes stick together.
This is being added to my weekly rotation.

OFRA Universal Eyebrow pencil (retail $13)
I don't usually use anything to fill in my eyebrows, even though sometimes I think I should.
This pencil is super easy to use and the brown color I received is perfect for me.
It filled in my eyebrows without making them look or feel heavy or caked.
I think I might be using it more often :)

Realtree for her (full size retail $24.99)
This is the only thing I didn't like this month. I am not a perfume girl at all :(

NYX Butter Gloss in Creme Brulee (retail $5)
This gloss is the perfect shade of pink to add just a bit of color and shine to my lips.
I love the thickness of the gloss too!
Job well done Ipsy!

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray (retail $6.99)
This is by far my favorite item I have received from Ipsy so far!
I love the smell of this spray, and it works great with my hair.
I am always trying to achieve a beach wave without my hair looking wet or crunchy...this spray is perfect!
Thank you Ipsy!!! I am in love!!!

I will say it again....Great job Ipsy!
This month my glam bag was fantastic!
All the products were well over my little $10 a month fee.

April Ipsy Glam Bag

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

To be honest, I put off writing a post about this bag because I just wasn't that thrilled with it.
I mean, the bag itself is super cool and totally me!

So here is what I received in April...

bigsexyhair Root Pump Volumizing Spray Mousse (retail $17.95)
I actually already own the full size bottle of this mousse,
so the mini is perfect to throw in my travel bag!

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Travel Size (retail $20)
LOVE! This is seriously my new favorite eye liner!
It goes on like a dream! And I would have never guessed that it was a travel size included!
It sure looks like a full size product to me!

City Color White Gold Shadow & Highlight Mousse (retail $3.99)
This product is for eyes or cheek bones it says.
All I know is it isn't for me :(
It was way too flashy and too thick to use as an eye shadow in my opinion.
It would be good for a trip to Vegas! lol!

Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Apple Pink (retail $19)
This is more of a stain than a balm.
It was darker than I anticipated and let my lips feeling really dry :(

dr. brandt microdermabrasion (retail $78)
Bad blogger/reviewer here.
I haven't actually tried this product yet, but after reading more about it for this post I will be right away!
It sounds amazing!
I receive so many of they exfoliaters that sometimes I get bored or just don't want to try another one. Especially since my skin is so sensitive!

Ok, so maybe the bag wasn't so bad after all.
I guess when it came in the mail I was just so put off with receiving things I already had/not liking the lip balm that I didn't give the other items a chance.
Lesson learned!

If you are interested in finding out more about Ipsy or would like to sign up, just click on the link here.
It is only $10 a month!
It is like receiving a little present every month in the mail!
Who doesn't love to get mail?

No sending back if you don't like it or extra charge if you keep it!
And sometimes you find some amazing products that you can't live without :)

March Ipsy Glam Bag Reveal & WIWW #2

Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Another month, another Ipsy Glam Bag!
I am so happy I made the switch to Ipsy from Birchbox.
The products just fit my style so much better.
And those cute little makeup bags don't hurt either :)

This month I received the following items...

1. The bag was specially designed for Ipsy by Klari!
Love how abstract it is! Totally me!

2. pixi Flawless Beauty Primer ($9)
It is very lightweight, but gives a nice glow :)
Perfect for summer!

3. Chella Indigo Blue Eyeliner ($24)
Surprisingly I really like this eyeliner.
I am not a huge fan of the felt pens since they can go from good to bad quickly,
but the color is a nice deep blue shade that actually looked better than I thought it would.
I didn't feel like I was back in the 80's one bit!

4. NYX Love in Rio Eyeshadow Palette ($6)
The colors are perfect!
I wear a lot of neutral eye shadows and these are right up my alley.
And they have just the right amount of sheen.
You can definitely wear these shadows to work and for a night out.

5. bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Get Ready ($18)
I have used bareMinerals products for years so I was super happy to receive this in my bag this month.
Their lip glosses and lipsticks always last for me and don't dry out my lips.
This color is a bit bold for me...lol!
I am a chapstick girl for the most part, but it is a nice lipstick.
I will probably save this for special occasions :)

Another great month of products.
I still can't believe I only pay $10 a month for this subscription!
The value this month was $57 worth of products!

What did you receive in your Ipsy Glam Bag?
What monthly subscriptions do you receive?

Also linking up for another week of What I wore Wednesday with Sarah @ Tucker Up and Lindsey @ The Pleated Poppy.
And Alison @ Get Your Pretty On for I feel pretty :)

I remembered to take a picture of my outfits 3 times this week.
I am hoping to start doing it daily if I can just remember!

On Saturday I had to run a few errands, so I threw this on.
Nashville tee, North Face fleece (similar), Vigoss jeans (similar), Hunter boots

I realized that I only have casual green clothing, so this was the best I could do for work on St. Patrick's Day.
Military jacket (similar), striped tee (similar), khaki pants, leopard flats, gold necklace (similar)

Another outfit for work this week.
Ohio weather calls for sweater dresses during the cold months :)
Brown sweater dress (similar), brown tights, cognac boots (similar)

So what have you been wearing during these up and down temps?
Has Spring officially began for you?

February Ipsy Bag, Old Navy haul & teaser #3

Thursday, February 20, 2014

I received my February Ipsy bag right before Valentine's Day and it featured some great items this month!
It was all about the look of love this month...so of course that means pink.
I am not a huge fan of pink honestly, I prefer red all the way!
However, when it comes to make up pink does work pretty well with my skin tone :)
So let's see what I got!

Every month Ipsy sends you a new little make up bag filled with your goodies :) I love getting these new bags each month! I can use them for SO many things!
Gym bag, travel bag, mini first aid kit, etc.

The first item I saw was this pop beauty lip gloss in Fuchsia Freesia (retail price $16). It looks shocking pink, but goes on a with just a slight bit of color. Perfect for Spring :)

J. Cat Eyelashes & Glue (retail price $3.99)
They actually look really natural in the package, but I haven't actually tried them yet.
They aren't ideal for this working girl on a daily basis,
but I will keep them on hand for a special night out.

Next up, is this gigantic (3 in. wide!) blush from City Color.
It is Be Matte Blush in Fresh Melon (retail price $2.99).
It looks super melony (yes, I made that up) in the container, but it glides on with just a hint of color and looks super natural. And I love the fact that it is matte instead of a shimmery blush. Perfect for me, and perfect for Spring & Summer!

I like to exfoliate my skin about one a week, but I never use a facial mask anymore.
Just too busy these days :(
This Blue Clay mask and Activating Gel (retail price $39 for 6 masks) from skyn Iceland came at the perfect time for me!
I am ready to detox and brighten up my complexion with these two products.
And I did just that!
My face feels refreshed and rid of all the those winter toxins!

The last product I received in my glam bag is a new nail polish from
Zoya called Odette (retail price $9).
It is a great purple-ish mauve shade.
Great color for this time of year!

So for $10 a month I received over $30 worth of products to try out. And I might mention most of them are full size products!
What an awesome way to try out new polishes, lip glosses, etc. without the huge price tag.
If you want to start receiving a monthly glam bag from Ipsy, just click here to sign up!
And thanks for the bonus points :)

Now on to some of the items I picked up at Old Navy last week!
Here in Ohio we are still experiencing winter, but in the retail world they are moving on to Spring.
That means great deals on coats, jackets, and anything cold weather related :)
I managed to pick up the following items all for $100!
Even better?
I had a gift card and a 20% off coupon!

Exact Military jacket & oxford shirt (in medium orange and light pink).
This winter coat in navy (sold out), and this top in pink & white (sold out).

I also picked up 4 pairs of pants (jeans, khaki's, sweats) for X!

Have you taken advantage of any end of the season sales?

And your giveaway teaser for today is...

Remember there will be two prize packs of some of my favorite things!
You can start entering to win on Monday :)

January Ipsy Delivery

Thursday, January 23, 2014

I mentioned in my last Birchbox post here that I was switching over to Ipsy instead. I received my first Ipsy bag last week and I am very happy I made the switch :)

Let's start off with the package it came in
It was bright and fun!
Just what I needed on a cold winter day :)

So here is what was inside...
Cute little makeup bag :)
Who couldn't use a new makeup bag?

I am always looking for a good product to fight acne when it pops up.
These wipes are super easy to use as well.

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair deep conditioning mask
My hair gets SO dry in the winter time so I was excited to test this out! I tried it this morning, but I didn't notice much of a difference from my normal conditioner :(

Elizabeth Mott Smooth Shadow creamy eye pencil in pearl
This pencil has a fine tip on it so it is perfect for highlighting the inner corner of your eye.
It is bit more shimmery than I normally wear, but great for a night out!

I just recently figured out what face lotion and such works best for me in the winter,
but I am willing to give this a try.
I get so nervous testing new face lotions since my skin is super sensitive.
I tried this lotion and it really is lightweight! Perfect for summer time!

Mica Beauty Cosmetics tinted lip balm in #6 Fiesta
This balm has a nice tint to it, but I just would prefer a more neutral tone...not a pink fan :(
