2020 Friday Faves Week 5

Friday, January 31, 2020

Let's do this Friday!

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for...

~ one ~

Love these two!

We were all happy because that kid did amazing once again on his report card this past 9 weeks :)
He has his moments that he tests us, but we love him and are so proud of him!

~ two ~

This week on the blog I shared some of my favorite moments from this month in my new monthly series called The Feels.

Wednesday was a #twofer day!
I kicked off the day with my January Edition of What's Up Wednesday,

and then shared my latest PinSpiration recreation.

~ three ~

Basketball season is finishing up next week! 🙌🙌
It is hard to believe it, but we are all ready for the break.
We had our second to last game last night and X had a special visitor at the game to watch him play :)

He absolutely adores his (step) cousin!

~ four ~

I can't go on without acknowledging the tragedy that happened over the weekend.
9 people lost their lives in a helicopter accident.
One was a celebrity so it makes the news.
It hits you hard regardless if you knew/liked him or not.
A father was lost.
A child was lost.
My heart is breaking for all the families involved.

One of my favorite Cleveland area tee shirt shops made a tribute tee and 100% of the proceeds are being donated to the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation.

 ~ five ~

It's Super Bowl weekend friends!!!!

Honestly my favorite part is the actual game 🏈
Will you be watching on Sunday?
Who will you be cheering for?

Looking forward to a fun weekend of friends and football!

Thanks for stopping by today!

In The Navy | PinSpiration!

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Who doesn't love Reese Witherspoon?
Her style is always so classic and effortless, yet perfectly pulled together.

And here is my recreation with pieces from my closet for a day at the office...

Navy Cords - Similar On Sale for under $35!
Gray Sweater - Similar On Sale for $12!
Plaid blanket scarf - Similar
Cognac belt - Similar
Cognac boots - Similar

Everything in my recreation is super old.
Honestly, the newest thing I have on is that belt and it is at least 2 years old :/
But classic pieces never go out of style!
That is why shopping your closet can be a lot of fun :)

Now it is your turn!
Link up your style posts below :)

XOXO ~ Vanessa

What's Up January!

Hey! Hey! I can't believe we are already through the first month of the new year!
Crazy how fast that went!
It's time to link up with Sheaffer and Shay for What's Up Wednesday!

What we're eating this week...

Monday - Spaghetti
Tuesday - Chicken tenders and veggies
Wednesday - Leftovers
Thursday  - Tacos and Basmati Rice
Friday - Out with Friends
Saturday - Girls Night Out
Sunday - Super Bowl Food!

Speaking of Super Bowl food...here is a super easy dip to make that everyone will love!

Ingredients:
1 can of Hormel chili (no beans)
1 jar of medium salsa (I use Chi-Chi's salsa)
1 8oz. package of softened cream cheese

Toss all your ingredients in a slow cooker on high.
Stir periodically until completely blended.
Switch your slow cooker to the warm setting and serve with tortilla chips (Scoops work really well).
Easy peasy!

What I'm reminiscing about...

How could I not think about this cuteness during Super Bowl week?

This guy was just 2 months old getting ready to watch his very first Super Bowl!

What I'm loving...

I'm a TV junkie friends!
I absolutely love that one of my favorite shows is back (even though it is the final season)!
If you aren't watching Schitt's Creek what are you waiting for?
Seriously the funniest show on TV!!!

What we've been up to...

Basketball, basketball, basketball!

We had a night off from basketball practices and games, so we decided to see the Harlem Globetrotters earlier this month!

X celebrated the birthday of a new friend :)

We are enjoying a fairly mild winter so far.
(Fingers crossed it stays that way!)

And we're trying to make decisions on lighting for the house.
Why is lighting so hard?!?!

What I'm dreading...

Nothing at the moment :)

What I'm working on...

Image result for water

Drinking more water!
I typically drink close to 8 glasses of water a day, but my body is telling me I need a lot more!
In the winter everything feels dry, so I am doing my best to up my water game.

What I'm excited about...

We booked our summer vacation at the end of December/beginning of January.
Not going to lie, I'm excited but nervous.
We are going to the Outer Banks for the first time.
So who has been there?
Give me all the things I need to know - places to eat, visit, etc.
We are staying in the Rodanthe area if that helps.

What I'm watching/reading...

I started watching Make It or Break It because I had nothing to watch, and I needed a Candace Cameron Bure fix while I wait for the final episodes of Fuller House ;)

I finished it just in time for all my shows that are returning :)
Now I'm watching Riverdale, Very Cavallari, This Is Us, A Million Little Things, and Blue Bloods.

I bought a couple of the books by Candace Cameron Bure at the beginning of last year after I listened to one of her books on Audible.
I decided to finally start reading them ;)
Currently I'm reading Reshaping It All and it is great!

What I'm listening to...

I mentioned in my 2020 Goals that I want to be more intentional with my time.
So currently I am listening to an online course on planning my blog content, branding, etc. to allow me to give you better content that truly represents me.
While I have done much better at planning for what I want to share on this space, I would still love your feedback.
Let me know in the comments below if there is anything that you would like to see more of, less of, etc.

What I'm wearing...

I started sharing the outfits I am recreating and wearing every Wednesday.
Here are the looks for this past month...

I would love for you to join me every Wednesday with your style related posts :)

Each month the questions will remain the same, with a few new ones added in based on the month.

Let's get to it!

Favorite Meal?
Trader Joe's Cookie Butter and graham crackers! lol!
Seriously the best snack!
I only let myself have a little at a time, but man is it so good!

Favorite Movie/TV Show/Book?
I have been loving that Very Cavallari is back!

And I'm finishing up Reshaping It All.
I honestly wasn't reading it as a weight loss/self help book, but it offers some really great advice.

Favorite Moment?
X's face when we went to see the Harlem Globetrotters.

He had such a good time!
We did too!

Goal for February?

I have tried being in the moment more over the last month or so, but then that means I don't have any pictures of those moments.

Anything else that made January "feel" Good?

January always brings the good feeling of new beginnings, a fresh mindset, etc.
This whole month has been great being able to reset after the holidays.

Thank you so much for joining me today!
I hope you will continue to join me at the end of each month :)

2020 Friday Faves week #4

Friday, January 24, 2020

Hello & Happy Friday!

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for another week of...

~ one ~

We kicked off our weekend with dinner out because the last thing I want to do on a Friday night is cook dinner ;)
We went to a local steakhouse and look at the size of the potato that came with my meal!!!!

I swear that thing was as big as my head!
Ok...that was slightly exaggerated.
More like the size of X's head ;)

~ two ~

This week on the blog I decided to jump on the Enneagram bandwagon for Tuesday Talk.

Image result for enneagram

I took this free test online (classic version) and it turns out I'm a 6.
I would love to know if you took a test or read a book and which number/type you are!

My PinSpiration post this week was all about stripes!
On your nails and on your clothes ;)

And I kicked off my new Let's Stay Home series with an update of our home renovation project!

~ three ~

Another week meant another basketball game.
These boys played awesome once again and came away with another W!

~ four ~

What better way to celebrate the middle of the week than attending a birthday party for one of your classmates?
Due to his father working weekends, the party had to be held during the week.
One hour of bowling, a few arcade games and some cake was perfect!

And that is it for this week!
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

Looking forward to (fingers crossed) celebrating Mic's birthday!

XOXO ~ Vanessa

Let's Stay Home | Renovation Update #5

Thursday, January 23, 2020

Welcome to my new home series...

Moving forward this series will be every third Thursday of the month.
I would love for you to join me each month sharing home decor, a favorite room, a DIY project, etc.

Today I am sharing a little update in our home build/remodeling project.

But first, in case you missed any of my home renovation posts, you can check them all out below.

So my last update we were ready for drywall to begin.
It is crazy to see real walls and defined spaces!
Prepare yourself for a lot of pictures of boring drywall.

Hello two story foyer! 😍

That scaffolding is sitting right where our dining room table will be.

The wall with the window will have a TV and family room space in line with the dining room table.

Heading up a few stairs into the kitchen 😊

The back wall will have lower cabinets with our range in the middle of the windows.
An island with the sink will be in the middle of the room.

Walk in pantry 🙌

Let's go upstairs to one of my favorite spaces in the house.

This landing area might just be my spot!
A TV and maybe a cozy lovesac are on my must have list for this area.

And I might be a little jealous of the closet in X's bedroom!

Mic loves the view of our property, so lots of the windows in the master bedroom, closet and bathroom were in order.

Again, sorry for all the boring drywall pics.
For me it is super exciting to see it all coming together!

Now it's your turn to link up your home posts!
