Weekend - Out

What I'm reminiscing about...

Vacation!

It was only a couple of weeks ago, but it was so nice to get away!
You can check out part 1 of our trip here :)
Part 2 will be live tomorrow.

What I'm loving...

That football is back!!!!

Eek!
I am beyond excited for this season!
We are headed to the Brown and Orange scrimmage this weekend in Cleveland.
And then they have their first preseason game next week!
NFL is back!
#allisrightinmyworld
GO Browns!!!

What we've been up to...

Thankfully the month of July has been fairly low key.
Besides vacation, X enjoyed some of the MLB All Star festivities with my dad.

This week X is doing double camp duty with Science camp in the morning and soccer camp at night!

And we went to see the DudePerfect tour!
More on that in my Friday Favorites post :)

What I'm dreading...

Nothing really :)

What I'm working on...

Back to school shopping!
School starts August 21st!
I have been checking out things online a lot these days, but I did pop into Target and saw these Fortnite backpacks!
X is begging for one of them!

Which brings up a question for you all.
Did you, or do your kiddos get a new backpack each year?
Or only when the old one needs replaced?

What I'm excited about...

My new planner!

I always love my Erin Condren planners each year, but decided to see if there was something out there that was similar without the price tag.
After doing a little research (and getting the rec from my cousin), I decided to pick up The Happy Planner.
So, so similar to my EC planners of the past!
And only a fraction of the price!
You can find them at Joann's, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc.
I grabbed an 18 month planner (July -December) on sale and 4 packs of stickers for just $35!
My EC planner typically is about $55-60!
So excited about this great find!
Do you use The Happy Planner?
If so, I would love to hear which style, format, etc. you have!

What I'm watching/reading...

Still going strong watching Blue Bloods on Netflix.
I am currently on season 4.

And I have been sucked in by The Hills: New Beginnings.

Is anyone else watching?
Well, somebody is because they were just renewed for a second season.
I want to know what you think!
Without all my old favorites there, I really like Brody, Jason and his wife this time around.
Stephanie and Justin Bobby are THE WORST!!!!

It hasn't started yet, but I am super excited for 90210 to start on August 7th!!!

Will you be watching?

What I'm listening to...

We are still listening to the good ole' hair bands from the 80's and 90's over here.
But of course the pop/country/hip hop hits are getting some requests as well ;)

What I'm wearing...

I shared what I wore on vacation here.
Basically some sort of combination of those items are on repeat each day.
But I did break out some jeans last night and paired it with one of my new tops for a girls night :)

Top/Necklace/Watch/Sandals - Jeans are old

What I'm doing this weekend...

I mentioned this above, but I'm just so excited I'm saying it again!
Going to the Cleveland Browns Brown and Orange scrimmage.

X is terribly afraid of heights and can't still still for very long, so we trying this option of an NFL game before spending money on the the real thing ;)

What I'm looking forward to next month...

Getting together with friends
Football is back
A wedding
School starts
Fantasy football draft
August is shaping up to be a great month!
I can't wait!

What else is new...

I've been resharing some of my favorite summer recipes on the blog.
Head here to check them all out!
This one is perfect for any cookouts you have coming up!

And that's it for July!
Hope you are all having a great week!

XOXO ~ Vanessa

Summer Vacation 2019 Part 1

Tuesday, July 30, 2019

Rewind a couple weeks back and we packed up the car and headed south for a week to South Carolina!
Despite his face, we were all excited to get out of our normal routine and such for a week of relaxation at the beach/pool.

Of course I had to kick off our road trip with a little Carrie Underwood :)

And are you really on vacation if you don't stop at Chick-fil-A for lunch?

We drove through a whole lot of rain storms, but we were happy because we were on vacation!

Despite our later start time (about 10am) and all that rain, we arrived in South Carolina for around 7pm Thursday evening.
We typically take two days to travel south so we don't have to be in the car for 11+ hours in one day.
Since we made it so far, we were only 3 hours away from our final destination :)
We grabbed a hotel and dinner and then got some rest.

The next morning we hopped in the car and headed to Beaufort, South Carolina.
We booked a room at the Beaufort Inn for Friday night, but it wasn't quite ready when we arrived so we sat down for lunch and a much needed adult beverage at Hearth Wood Fired Pizza :)

Side note: These are now my drink of choice!
Taste good and only 100 calories!

We absolutely loved the grounds and all the little homes at The Beaufort Inn.

And the Spanish moss on the trees! 😍😍
This was just outside the balcony of our room.

This place was even X approved ;)

And what a gorgeous place to stay and host your wedding!

We chilled (literally) in our room for bit before walking down to the water for the Beaufort Water Festival fireworks show.

We walked up right before they started and scored a prime spot right by the water.
It was perfect!

I'm a sucker for fireworks!

We slept great!
We got dressed for the day and headed to get some breakfast.
The Inn doesn't have their own restaurant, but you are given vouchers for breakfast at your choice of three different local spots.
So cool!

We picked the Blackstone's Cafe and everything was really good!
It was really a neat place with all the flags they have acquired from quests over the years.

This Toasted Marshmallow Mocha Latte was so YUMMY!

The water festival went on for the entire week we were in the area, but we decided to check it out after breakfast before heading over to our beach house for the week.
They had all kinds of events, races, etc. going on.
What a fun festival if you are in the area!

We then headed out to the Sea Islands where we would be staying for the week.
Since our house wasn't quite ready, we decided to stop by the Hunting Island State Park and beach.
It was unlike anything I had ever seen!
Trees at the beach?

It was really neat, but strange to me at the same time.
Our visit was cut short because we got the call that our house was ready for us!
YAY!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our trip on Thursday :)
