Weekend Recap | At Home Fun

Monday, January 30, 2017

Hello Monday morning!
While this past weekend was just a regular one, boy did it feel long!
I don't think I have been at home that much in one weekend...ever! lol!
And it actually wasn't that bad ;)

On Friday evening Mic and I decided to build a fort for X in our dining/living room.
Oh my goodness did he love it!
We even put the TV inside there!

We signed into Netflix and had a fun family movie night in our little big fort!

Saturday was a lot of nothing until it was time for X and I to go to a play date :)
He had so much fun with his little friend from school!
They played, enjoyed pizza and some healthy stuff too!
All while I made a new friend as well :)
It was a great evening for both of us.

Sunday morning I did my typical grocery shopping before heading out with Mic and his dad to get a load of wood.
When we were done with everything we had dinner at my in-laws house.
Cabbage rolls are one of my favorite things!
Thankfully I was able to restrain myself and only have two!

Sunday evening X and I watched a little of the Pro Bowl together :)
I heard there was an awards show on, but that really isn't my speed ;)
#tomboyhere

It is hard to see/read in the pic I took of the TV, but one of our Cleveland Browns is up there!
Joe Thomas has been selected to the Pro Bowl in all of his 10 seasons!
There are only 4, FOUR other players that have done that!
While the Browns aren't the greatest team out there, they always have my heart.
And I am beyond proud of this guy representing my team :)

And that was it for the weekend!
Man did it feel longer than what it was!

How was your weekend?
Was it low key or full of crazy?

Friday Favorites | Healthy Fun

Friday, January 27, 2017

Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika...

This week has been all about eating healthy and having fun with X!

Mic and I are currently on day 5 of the Advocare 10 day cleanse.

I can honestly say I feel great!
The only thing I am missing/craving is a warm cup of something creamy. lol!
My favorite coffee with lots of creamer is my weakness!

On Monday I recapped our weekend :)
We spent some time with some of our favorite peeps!

I joined Andrea for one of my favorite link ups on Tuesday and it was all about Splurge vs Steal!

On Tuesday night X and I got to have a little fun together at his school for Mommy & Me Night :)
Spending time and being silly with this guy is always my favorite!
He had such a great time playing with the light boards,

and making our bird feeder together :)

And look at this photo they snapped of us during the event!
My new favorite for sure!!!
(insert all the heart eyes emojis)

On Wednesday I recapped some of our favorite moments over the last month and what we are looking forward to in February :)
#kindergartensignupsarehere

We have taken a break from Snapchat, but we are back!
Taking silly pictures and videos are his favorite!

One of my favorite things to decorate with, wear, etc. are twigs.
I saw this ring on Instagram this week and I am thinking I need to order it ASAP! :)

And that is it for the last week of January!
Looking forward to taking X to a play date on Saturday and then just hanging out at home preparing for a busy February :)
Happy Friday!

What's Up Wednesday | January

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

First let me start off today by saying...

Happy 60th Birthday Dad!
I love you and hope you are having the very best day!
Wishing you the best year yet!

Linking up with Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

What we're eating this week...
All the healthy things!
Mic and I are currently in the middle of a 10 day cleanse so we are eating lots of veggies, fruits, lean protein, etc.
Along with these and some Spark!

What I'm reminiscing about...
My teen years.
Not sure if it is the songs I have been listening to lately, but it just takes me back to those days.
Choices I made or didn't make.
All I can say is I am truly thankful for unanswered prayers ;)

What I'm loving...
How much X has grown up over the last month.
I swear the calendar switched over to 2017 and something changed in this kid!

Don't get me wrong, he still has his whiny moments but he just seems so much older now.
He uses big words.
He plays more by himself (this is super tough for him).
He wants to do more for himself.
I would love to bottle up this age/stage in his life and keep it forever!
I plan on taking as many videos as possible of him to remember these days :)

What we've been up to...
We had two low key celebrations for Mic and my dad's birthdays.
So low key that I only took a couple of pics :(

What I'm dreading...
Nothing at the moment :)

What I'm working on...
Picking out restaurants and attractions for our upcoming family vacation ;)
see below >

What I'm excited about...
I can finally say it on here - Disney World!!!!
I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was super geeked out because I talked to a fellow blogger on the phone.
Well, now I can say that Erika is helping me plan our trip to Disney!
She is just the sweetest! And has been great with how picky we are and the limited time to plan (we are going at the beginning of May!).
Seriously, I have been waiting my entire life to go to Disney!
I pray it is as great as I have built up in my mind!!!!
Any tips or suggestions for this first timer?

What I'm watching/reading...
Football, football, football!
X and I are going to be so sad when the Superbowl is over :(
But my DVR is full of shows, so I need to catch up!
The only show I am up to date on is This Is Us :)

I haven't found time yet to start the couple of books I got for Christmas, but I am reading my One Year Bible every day :)

What I'm listening to...
Lately X has been obsessed with two things - Carrie Underwood's Church Bells and Bad Boys by Inner Circle.

When those aren't on, I am typically jamming out to the following songs...

Little Mix

Little Big Town

Lauren Alaina

Thomas Rhett

And does anyone know if there is a Nelly channel?
I have been playing all the Nelly songs on my phone through YouTube :)

What I'm wearing...
I feel like I say this every month, but it is true.
Ohio doesn't know how to just pick a season and stick with it.
Over the last month we have had Winter and Spring days.
Heck, some times it happens all in the same day!
I have worn my winter coat, scarf, hat and gloves...
and the very next day I am wearing a short sleeve tee and jeans with no coat or boots.

I have rocked some of my newest pieces too!
Camo Leggings from a local boutique
And the only top I kept from my latest Stitch Fix.

What I'm doing this weekend...
At the moment, nothing is planned.
Fingers crossed I am finally getting over this cold I have had for almost a month!
Unfortunately, as I type this Mic is at home sick and X can't stop sneezing :(

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Preschool conferences for X, followed up by Kindergarten sign ups!
It is crazy to think how fast X is growing up, but I love watching it!
I can't wait for him to start school and see all the things he learns, friends he makes, etc. :)

What else is new...
I am excited to have an evening with Mic when we go see Easton Corbin next month :)

Totally making a date night out of it with dinner too!

And that is it for the month of January :)
Happy Wednesday Friends!

Show & Tell | Splurge vs. Steal

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Linking up with Andrea for...

Today's topic - Splurge vs. Steal

Honestly, I am pretty cheap most of the time.
It is horrible to admit, but I tend to go for quantity over quality.
Over the last few years I have tried buying more quality items, but boy oh boy is it it tough!
So here is the breakdown of what I actually am willing to spend $$ on.

Skin Products

Pretty much my entire life I have purchased skincare products and make up at the drug store or a box store of some kind.
But I just wasn't happy with the results and found myself spending more money to find something new, or that worked better.
As far as make up goes I have splurged on Bare Minerals or Urban Decay foundations and eye shadows for over the last 10 years.

But anything else I buy at a steal :)

And as far as skincare goes, I took the suggestions of many other bloggers and splurged on a Clarisonic a few years ago for Mic and myself.
Yes, I do love it!
And I used to use it every other day until I splurged on skin care products from Rodan & Fields last year.
I have tried three of the regimens and while I am not 100% sold on them, I haven't found an alternative I like better :/

Hair

Oh Hair!
I have had a love/hate relationship with my hair over the years.
I grew up with a family friend cutting/perming/you name it my hair for years at a steal.
But when I moved to the 'field to live with Mic I had no idea where to go!
So I looked around for a good salon and decided to splurge.
So happy I did!
I have "been with" Kasey for almost 14 years!
I love how she colors/cuts/hilites my hair, as well as the true friendship we have formed.
Now as for hair products I tend to grab whatever steal is on sale at the grocery store.
I did upgrade/splurge to Moroccan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and have been using them for almost a year.
I love them!
I wash my hair about every 2-3 days, so those puppies have lasted quite awhile!

Other Things

I mentioned above that I typically like quantity over quality, so here are a few things I always go for a steal and a few I must splurge on.

Shoes
I have the hardest time spending money on shoes.
I like to have a million options, so splurging on them just doesn't work for me.

Clothing
I pretty much buy all X's clothes at Target or Old Navy.
I am not spending on ton of money on clothing that he might only wear one time.
He is growing like a weed these days!

And as for me, I have a hard time spending a lot too!
Again, I like options!
However, I keep giving Stitch Fix a try because I highly dislike shopping.

Home Decor
Things that just sit around the house are super hard to purchase.
That is why our house typically looks like no one actually lives here other than the mess of toys.
I like to think of it as being simplistic, but it is really just cheap! lol!

Splurge Musts

Food
Don't get me wrong on this one, I do buy a lot of grocery store brand products and such but there are certain items I HAVE to have the name brand!
Spaghetti Sauce is one of the them!

Trips
I am not a homebody, so I am willing to spend a lot to travel.
And I want the maximum amount of days possible, so that adds up to a pretty penny.

Concerts
Love, love, love music!
Especially live music!
I am more than willing to fork over $$$ to attend a show for someone I like.
Even more willing to fork over the dough for really good seats!

TV's
And my biggest splurge item has to be TV's!
I just can't live without them!
And please don't make me only have one!
I currently have more TV's than I should share that I can use any time I am at home :)
It makes me happy :)

What do you splurge on?
What steals do you go after?
Any tips on how to make those splurges steals?

The Weekend | Family, Food & Football

Monday, January 23, 2017

Hello Monday afternoon!
We had a full, fun, and food filled weekend!

Thursday morning I had to swing through Kroger on my way to work so I started off my day with my very favorite drink :)
#whitechocolatemochalatte

We went to dinner with Mic's parents and X on Friday night to celebrate his birthday.
Our food was great and it was a relaxing evening.
So much so I didn't take a single picture! :(

On Saturday, X and I headed north to meet my dad, step mom, brother, SIL, and niece for lunch :)
I enjoyed a nice cold adult beverage, but I wasn't a fan of that glass at all!
I swear someone was trying to mess with me with that snake on there! lol!

This kid was great the entire time!
The million TV's with sports on them definitely helped, but boy was he good!

Funny to think how much X has grown since he was as small has his cousin Lily!

After resting for a bit once we were back home, I headed out for a solo trip to Target :)
Starbucks was of course consumed while on this trip! lol!

Don't mind my super dusty car, but I had to take a pic of that temp!
Saturday and Sunday reached highs in the lower 60's!
It definitely felt like Spring!

X is still wanting to cook every.single.day.
I finally picked up something he was interested in making :)
Ninja Turtle Cookies!

He was so proud!
Oh, and don't mind the complete mess behind X.
I still have no idea where to put all that "junk" :(

The rest of the day was filled with Football, meal prep, and fort building!

Now that the teams are set, who are you cheering for in the Superbowl?
Atlanta Falcons or New England Patriots?
