What's Up September

Wednesday, September 30, 2020

Hello! Happy Wednesday!
Can you believe it is the last day of September already?
Once school and sports started this month just flew by!
I'm linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for another month of What's Up Wednesday!

What we're eating this week...
Monday - Pulled Pork & Sweet Corn
Tuesday - Chili
Wednesday - Out! - It's a busy night!
Thursday - Chicken & Dumplings
Friday - Pizza
Saturday - Football Food with Friends
Sunday - ???

What I'm reminiscing about...
A simpler life just last month ;)

What I'm loving...
This weather!
Just praying it doesn't get cold too quickly.

What we've been up to...
If we aren't at soccer practice or a game, we are at football practice these days.

What I'm dreading...
Nothing at the moment!

What I'm working on...
This post, my To-Do List, and drinking my cup of coffee ;)

What I'm excited about...
In case you missed it our countertops were installed last week.
I'm still beaming from ear to ear :)

What I'm watching/reading...
Cleveland Browns football on the weekends! Wahoo!
Other than that we have been watching Downton Abbey.

To be honest, I have never had any interest in the show.
Mic mentioned it and I reluctantly decided to give it a try.
I really enjoy it!
It is actually more funny than I expected.

What I'm listening to...
At the moment I have my earbuds in listening to a mix of Halloween music at my desk :)

What I'm wearing...
My denim jacket is still on repeat, but I have mixed a few sweaters in on the colder mornings.

I kicked off this month in a very festive look...

I shared what I have been wearing to work lately...

And how I celebrated the first day of fall...

What I'm doing this weekend...
Watching X play soccer!

And hanging out with friends!

What I'm looking forward to next month...
Lots of soccer games, football games, and Ohio State football is back.

What else is new...
Nothing else at the moment :)

XOXO ~ Vanessa

The Feels | September

Monday, September 28, 2020

Welcome to another month of The Feels!

Favorite Meal?
Mic and I were able to enjoy dinner out just the two of us at Outback.
We didn't have to rush, we watched the Kentucky Derby, and we enjoyed an adult beverage :)

Favorite Movie/TV Show/Book?
Mic and I decided to give Downton Abbey a try recently and I love it!
We are currently making our way through season 2.
Have you watched it?

Favorite Activity?
The only activity I have been doing these days is driving X to all his practices for soccer and football.
I do enjoy watching him practice and chatting with the rest of the parents :)

Favorite Moment?
Hands down it was when we walked into the house and saw our kitchen island built and our countertops installed throughout the house!
We knew they should be coming in soon, but had no idea of an exact date.
I was beyond surprised and excited!

Goal For October?
Walk more, go to bed earlier, do a load of laundry each day.
All the things that have been thrown out the window since school started and I went back to the office.

Anything Else That Made September Feel Good?
Just a sense of normalcy.
While it isn't exactly the same as things were back in early March, X being able to go back to school and play sports again has been wonderful!

XOXO ~ Vanessa

Friday Favorites Week #39

Friday, September 25, 2020

Happy Happy Friday!
I am so ready for a moment of relaxation this weekend :)
But before that, let's dive into my favorites from the past week!

Linking up with Andrea & Erika :)

We spent last weekend outside a lot!
X had soccer practice on Friday evening.

Followed by heading out to our property on Saturday afternoon to work on some more soccer foot skills and running routes for football.

We ended the weekend with X's first soccer game of the season on Sunday evening.

And to make sure the whole weekend wasn't about sports, we picked out and order our new sectional for the house!!!
Eek!
We ordered it in a medium gray shade.

Other than our dining room furniture and a cheap couch, we have never bought furniture in our 19 years together!
We have been given hand me downs the whole time.
It felt so good to pick out something that we really wanted :)

The rest of our week was full of soccer and football practices.

School pictures

AND......our countertops were installed!!!!!
Yes, you read that last statement correctly!
To say we were shocked and SO excited to see them is an understatement!
I'm sharing a sneak peek now, but once I snap some more photos I'll share them in all their glory :)

And that is it for the week!
Ready for another weekend of practices and relaxation :)

Wishing you all a fabulous fall weekend!

XOXO ~ Vanessa

Thursday, September 24, 2020

Happy Thursday!
I can't believe it is time for another edition of Let's Stay Home!
This month I wanted to share something super exciting with you all...

What does that mean you ask?
That means you can shop my links from my blog or head straight to my Amazon store and see all the items in one place.
Yes, I get a small kickback if you decide to purchase from my links.
And it is greatly appreciated if you do so :)

My storefront just opened, but make sure to check back often for new items.
Right now I currently have sections for My Style, Home Decor, Pantry items, and This and That ;)
I am adding more items to each section and adding new categories daily!

Which brings me to a question I have for you.
Why are you here?
I know that sounds a little forward so hear me out.
I recently took a poll on my Instagram stories to see what my followers/readers visit or follow me for.
The options were Recipes, Style, Home Decor/Building, or Lifestyle.
The clear winner on Instagram was Home Decor!
But I want to know how my blog readers feel as well!
Out of those 4 main topics which do you come here for?

Why do you read X-tremely V?
Recipes
Style
Home Decor/Building Updates
Lifestyle - What we are up to!

Don't worry, there is no wrong answer!
I just want to get a better idea of why you take time out of your day/week/month to come read what I am have to say and share.

I also want to know how many posts on average each week you would like to see from me moving forward.
At the moment I plan on keeping the same format through the end of the year, but I may change things up come 2021.

How many posts do you like to see on X-tremely V each week?

3-4

I greatly appreciate the feedback so I make sure I am producing the best content on here for you!

Don't want to take the polls...no problem!
Just give me all your feedback in the comments below!

Fall Is Here!

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Hello and Happy Wednesday!
Fall is here my friends and I am all about it!
A pumpkin tee was the perfect way to celebrate the first day of fall yesterday!
Don't worry, it was a dress down day in our office ;)

I picked this festive tee up a couple of years ago and it is perfect for all the fall things!
I typically score my festive tees like this one on Jane.com, Etsy, or Target.
I linked some similar options below :)

I paired it with my must have denim jacket of course, some green jeans and my cognac booties.
Perfectly pulled together, perfectly me!

Denim Jacket - Kut from the Kloth

Are you excited fall is finally here?
It is my favorite season for so many reasons.
The leaves change colors here in Ohio.
It's Football season!
Bring on all the cozy sweaters and boots!
It is the perfect season to sit outside by a bonfire.
The list is endless for me!

What about you?
What is your favorite thing about fall?

Friday Favorites Week #38

Friday, September 18, 2020

Oh Friday...I am so glad you are here.
While we didn't have the best start today,
I will forgive you ;)

Let's catch up on the last couple of weeks!
Linking up with Andrea & Erika :)

My favorite cookies are back right now!
I am not a big cookie fan, but I do enjoy the orange creme Halloween Oreo's and the red creme ones for Christmas.
I'm not sure what it is, but those orange and red ones just taste better than the originals to me :)

I made a Target run and found my favorite winter coffee back on the shelf!
This stuff is SO GOOD!!!

Mic and I managed to have a impromptu dinner date just the two of us and I wasn't mad about it :)

We celebrated Labor Day with one of my favorite activities :)

We woke up that Tuesday morning it was time to head off to work and 3rd Grade!

Of course followed by soccer and football practices all week :)
#gobigorgohome

Today X is finishing up his second week of being back to school and I am ending my second week back to the office.

In other news....

On the blog I shared what I have been wearing to work recently :)

And a yummy dish that I think you will love!

If you are in the market for some velvet hangers, I found this box of 50 at Sam's Club for just $13!

And last but certainly not least (and the reason this post is so delayed),
My Cleveland Browns won last night on Thursday Night Football!!!

X has another soccer practice this evening, and then gets to officially kick off game season on Sunday!
I can't wait!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!!

Style My Way | Working It

Wednesday, September 16, 2020

With the cooler temps moving in each morning here in Ohio and me being back at the office full time, I figured I would share a few of the outfits I have been wearing to work these days.

First day of school for X and first day back to the office for me!
I reached for my must have denim jacket, black pants and a tank.

Good Eats | Crispy Cabbage & Noodles

Tuesday, September 15, 2020

I'm back!
My new computer arrived and I once again have access to my blog and all the other sites I have been blocked from.
That was torture!
But hopefully that is over for good now and I can move on :)

Today is Good Eats!
I am sharing a recipe that my mom made for me as a kid, and I continue to make.
It is one of my favorite things to eat!
Kaluska!
What the heck is that you ask?
Basically it's cabbage and noodles.

Here is what you will need:
1 bag of Mrs. Weiss Kluski noodles
1 head of cabbage
1 stick of butter
1-2 spoons of minced garlic
salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried onion to taste

1. Follow the cooking instructions on the bag of noodles.
2. Chop up the head of cabbage, place in a pot with water, and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes.
3. Drain the noodles and cabbage when done.
4. Just before noodles and cabbage are done, place 2-3 tablespoons of butter and a couple of spoons of minced garlic in the electric skillet and allow to melt.

Here is the skillet I use...

5. Add the cabbage and noodles to the skillet with another couple tablespoons of butter.

6. Add your some salt, pepper, garlic and onion and stir.
7. Allow the mixture to cook on high for 5-10 minutes before stirring and adding more salt, pepper, garlic and onion.
8. After another 5 minutes add the rest of the butter.
9. Continue to cook and stir until the noodles get brown and crispy.

Enjoy!

You can easily add bacon or smoked sausage to this recipe.
I tend to add some smoked sausage on the side :)

Now it is your turn to link up your recipes below!
Have a great day friends!
