Fall Is Here!

Wednesday, September 23, 2020

Hello and Happy Wednesday!
Fall is here my friends and I am all about it!
A pumpkin tee was the perfect way to celebrate the first day of fall yesterday!
Don't worry, it was a dress down day in our office ;)

I picked this festive tee up a couple of years ago and it is perfect for all the fall things!
I typically score my festive tees like this one on Jane.com, Etsy, or Target.
I linked some similar options below :)

I paired it with my must have denim jacket of course, some green jeans and my cognac booties.
Perfectly pulled together, perfectly me!

Fall Tees - Jane, Etsy
Denim Jacket - Kut from the Kloth
Jeans - Similar
Booties - Similar

Are you excited fall is finally here?
It is my favorite season for so many reasons.
The leaves change colors here in Ohio.
It's Football season!
Bring on all the cozy sweaters and boots!
It is the perfect season to sit outside by a bonfire.
The list is endless for me!

What about you?
What is your favorite thing about fall?

Style My Way | White Shorts

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

On this edition of Wannabe Wednesday, I picked one of the looks Brooke from Pumps & Push Ups shared in her 5 Ways To Style White Shorts.

You all know I love all things black and white, so when I came across this look I knew I could easily recreate it with items in my closet.

White denim shorts outfits for summer | petite style | petite summer outfits | white shorts outfits

The only thing I truly switched out from Brooke's original look was the shoes.
I don't own any leopard print shoes, so I swapped in my camo sandals for my recreation.
Making my look - Styled My Way 😉

Are my items absolutely identical?
No!
But that is what makes this look more me :)

Want to recreate Brooke and my look?

Here are some similar items to add to your closet...
Chambray/Denim shirt - Blue, Light Blue
Black & White Striped Tee - Old Navy, Walmart
White Shorts - Old Navy, Amazon
Leopard Sandals - Amazon
Necklace - Altard' State

Do you rock white shorts?

Style My Way | Summer Highlight

Wednesday, August 12, 2020

My mind (like most people I know) is focused on all the fall things these days.
However, Mother Nature isn't having that just yet.
The temps are in the upper 80's with super high humidity as well.
So think what you want, Summer is still here!

So I figured embrace it and throw on my Summer tee I picked up last year from Amazon, along with my super fun and comfy neon shorts from Walmart.
It was the perfect outfit to run errands in.
And how can you not smile when you see bright summer colors?!?!

Summer Tee - Sold out, similar here
Neon Shorts - Just $10, but only a few sizes left

Does it still feel like summer near you or has fall starting taking over?

Style My Way | Wannabe Erin ;)

Wednesday, August 5, 2020

Before we left for vacation I had ordered some new shorts from Old Navy.
Unfortunately, they didn't arrive before we left :(
I thought about returning them since summer is coming to a close here pretty quickly, but I tried them on and I love them!
So then I thought, let's style them and share them with you all!

I hopped on Pinterest and found the perfect, and super easy way to style them.
I took my inspiration from the one and only Erin @CottonStem
First of all, if you don't follow Erin what are doing?!?!
Her home, her style...I love it all!
She styles seasonal wardrobe capsules that I think you would all be inspired by!

I threw on some similar pieces I had in my closet, and Voila!
Mustard, white and denim inspired by Erin, but styled my way 😄

Most items are still available if you want to shop my look!
Shorts - Old Navy - similar
Tee - Amazon
Jacket - Macy's
Sandals - Target
Bracelets - Walmart, Altar'd State - similar, Stella & Dot, Baubles By B (use code VROBERTS20 at checkout)

How would you style mustard shorts?

I have loved following along with Brooke on Instagram as she and her family build their home.
Seriously, go check it out!

I was inspired yesterday when I saw her stories to copy her look.
Kind of hard to do when you are taking screenshots of someone and yourself, but here it goes...

Love the look Brooke!
And I love your new home!

Let's Talk About Swimwear

Wednesday, July 8, 2020

Honestly, shopping for swimwear was never that big of a deal to me.
Basically from after high school I worked in the summer months.
I wasn't laying out like I did in my teen years.
So shopping for a swimsuit was only when we were getting ready to go on vacation.
Basically, how I'm shopping now ;)

We leave soon for the Outer Banks and I would love a new swimsuit that makes me feel good.
I have quite a few of them from previous years, but there is something about going on vacation with a new one.
So far this year I haven't found one I love :(

I have tried Target and Amazon so far.
Actually, I have two new ones from Amazon that should be arriving within the week so fingers crossed they are the ones!

Everything I have tried is super cute, and the quality has been really good for the price.
So I decided to share them all with you in case you are in the market for a new swimsuit as well.

I'm just putting this out there....I don't wear a one piece.
I have one in my collection, and it rarely gets worn.
I have an odd length torso so they never look good on me, and I pee WAY TOO MUCH to have to rip that wet thing off and on all day.

I own one Tankini top.
Again, they just never fit me right.
I bought one a few years ago because I knew I would be around some friends and their kiddos and didn't want to look odd in a bikini.

So that leaves us with a basic two piece bikini.
I have different types of them.
Bandeau top, halter style, lace up, etc.
Most my bottoms are the basic bikini style with medium coverage.
I do have one bottom that has high waist. Not my favorite.
However, it is can be adjusted and pushed down a bit so that is why I kept them.

Now that I got all that out of the way...you still here?
I'm going to share a couple of my suits from years past that are still available, and a few new ones I have tried recently.
And don't worry, I'm not sharing myself in any of them.
I'm not a size 0...and I'm ghostly white!

I tried to find more of my suits that I know are available in store, but I can't find them online.
I have a couple from the Shade & Shore brand.

Amazon.com: Ekouaer Womens Forest Leaves Printing High Neck Halter ...

High Neck Halter Bikini Set - This is a cute and simple option I picked up a few years ago.

CUPSHE Flower Print Tank Bikini Set Women Lace up High Waisted ...

High Waisted Lace Up Halter Bikini Set - These are the high waisted bottoms I referenced above.
I really like how this suit fits, and the ease of adjusting the height of the waist.

Amazon.com: CUPSHE Women's Mid Waisted Bikini Set Lace Up Two ...

Mid Waist Lace Up Bikini Set - I ordered this in the white/green option.
This should arrive by early next week.
It is super similar to the style above, so I'm really hoping this one works out :)

Amazon.com: SUUKSESS Women Wrap Bikini Set Push Up High Waisted 2 ...

High Waisted Criss Cross Bikini Set - I ordered this one in the purple/pink tie dye option.
Tops are SO HARD to shop for for me!
Most the reviews sound like this could be a winner for me as well.

SHEKINI Women's Push-up Halter Bandage Ruched High Waisted Bottoms ...

Halter Bandage Bikini Set - I almost kept this one.
The fit is TTS, and I really liked these bottoms.
The top size was just slightly off for me, so I returned it in the end.
If you aren't bigger busted, I would totally suggest this one!

COCOSHIP Womens Ruching High Waist Bikini Set Cross Wrap Push Up ...

High Waisted Wrap Around Bikini Set - Same goes for this one as the one above.
The waist is much higher on this bottom if you are looker for more coverage.
Again, this top style is great for a smaller bust size.

I also tried a couple options from Target, but they aren't available online right now.
One was a tie dye scoop style top with bikini bottom - they are mix and match.
Super cute, but the scoop style doesn't look very good on me.

I would love to hear your thoughts now!
Where do you shop for swimwear?
What is your favorite style?
One piece, Tankini or two piece?
Let me know in the comments below :)

Style My Way | Eyelet in the sky

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

When you shop for new clothes do you typically have something in mind that you are looking for, or do you just buy whatever jumps out at you?
I typically don't buy anything I just see as I shop.
I go to stores or sites with the intent to find an item that I have pictured in my head.

So when I headed to Target the other day I was looking for an eyelet top of some sort.
I actually picked up the exact same top in two different colors since you aren't able to use the dressing rooms right now.
Honestly, I wasn't giving the navy one much thought.
In my mind I was going to wear the white version.
Well, to my surprise I really liked the navy one so much more!

I paired it with some simple white chino shorts and sandals for an evening with friends.
It was perfect!

Navy Eyelet Top - Available in white & rose as well.
Straw Sandals - similar
Straw Handbag (not shown)
Earrings (shown below)
Sunglasses - not shown

Which is your favorite way to shop - In store or online?

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Vacation Packing Tips

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

Is it just me, or does everyone over pack when going on vacation?
You just never know what mood you will be in, how you are feeling that day, etc.
Today I have a few packing tips for you that will help you stay less stressed when packing for vacation, and will keep your hubby off your back ;)

1. Pick a color theme
I have especially done this when we have to travel out of town for a wedding.
I almost always wear a dress for the wedding that fits the colors of the wedding (without looking like I'm in the wedding).
From there I build my additional outfits needed for the rest of the days.
My dress was brown for a wedding we attended in Michigan, so I selected all outfits and shoes that had a brown base.

Another time (most the time), I picked black as my base.
Most people have black and brown in their wardrobe, so it should be easy to use those.
If you are someone that has a lot of blue, green or any other color - you could use those as your base colors.
The possibilities are endless.

2. Plan out each outfit
If we are going to be gone for 10 days, I plan a full outfit for each day.
That means top & shorts (or dress), underwear, bra, socks (if needed), and shoes.
I even pack them as outfits if I am going somewhere where I have to work out of my suitcase instead of a closet or dresser.

I'm a shorts girl when going somewhere warm for vacation.
If laundry isn't an option, I pack at least one pair of shorts for each day (from take-off to return).
From there I plan a casual top with each of them.
I know I won't be going out to fancy dinners each day, so I pick about 3-4 dressier tops that will also pair with some of the shorts I am bringing.
Don't have enough shorts for each day?

Throw a few dresses into the mix and you are good to go!

3. Limit jewelry and accessories
This one is easy for me because I don't wear a lot of jewelry.
But if you like to, try to stick with inexpensive pieces in case they get lost/taken/broken.
Pair a couple necklaces, bracelets, earrings that go with the majority of the items you are packing so you can mix and match throughout your vacation.
I also try to stick to just a couple of hats or handbags that go with everything.

3. Pick no more than 5 pairs of shoes that can go with the outfits
I try to have the following shoes with me on when going to the beach for vacation.
Sneakers
Flip flops (beach/pool only)
Black and/or brown casual sandals
Nicer pair of sandals that fit my color theme

I used to bring a small laundry basket full of sandals on vacation every year when I first met Mic.
I realized I don't need all those.
Plus, by not packing all those extra shoes it gives you some room in the car or your suitcase to bring home something new :)

These tips are definitely easier when you can predict the weather for where you are going on vacation.

One last tip I have for you...
Always over pack underwear!!!
You will never regret having too many ;)

Thank you so much to Andrea @ Living on Cloud Nine for the idea for this post today :)

XOXO ~ Vanessa
