Good Eats! | St. Patrick's Day Edition

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

I don't know about you, but I personally love St. Patrick's Day! 🍀
Unfortunately, this year it falls on a Tuesday so it doesn't look like I will be hitting up any parades or livin' it up at a bar with some green beer ;)
However, I do have some yummy recipes to share with you and a couple easy ideas that can still make the day fun for the whole family!

The easiest way to make things more festive on St. Patrick's day is to add green food coloring to your food and drink.
Just add it to the milk your kiddos drink that day.
You could make pancakes or waffles that day and just add some food coloring to the batter.
If you have some Lucky Charms cereal sitting around, you can snag a few of the marshmallows and top your green pancakes with those and some whipped cream!
Your kids will love it!

Another option is edible spray paint.

Pick up a can of green or gold at your local grocery store.
You can spray almost anything you want!
From fruit and veggies, to cookies and more.
Surprise your kids with gold coins (Oreo cookies) in their lunch for a sweet treat :)

When it is time for dinner we absolutely love making Shepard's pie (similar recipe) for dinner on St. Patrick's Day!
Sometimes I even add a bit of that green food coloring to my potatoes just for fun :)

Here are some more options for appetizers, dinner, drinks and desserts that I think would please the whole family...

You can always make some festive chocolate bark for a special treat.
Just follow your favorite bark recipe and then add some green sprinkles, M&M's, etc.

This one looks really good!

I love a good festive cocktail!
This one is one of my favorites in the spring and summer!
I add a bit of food coloring again to make it just a little bit more fun :)

I found this shot recipe years ago and loved it so much I turned it into a drink instead :)

Here is what you need (makes 2 cocktails):

3 oz. Licor 43
A few splashes Vodka (about a 1/4 oz.)
1 oz. Rose's sweetened lime juice
2 oz. milk or cream (add more if you like it creamier)

Pour ingredients into mixing cup filled with ice.
Shake and strain into glass.
It is seriously that simple!
Sometimes I add crushed graham crackers to the rim of the glass or just sprinkle on top.

Here are a few other drinks that I think would be super yummy...
