Show & Tell | Groundhog Day

Tuesday, February 3, 2015

When reading through the prompts when Andrea first released the list for Show & Tell I didn't give it too much thought when I read today's topic.
But once I sat down to write, it was a different story.
The idea is to write about your favorite day. The one you would relive over and over again (like Groundhog Day) if you had the chance.
Thing is, I have a few days at least that I would relive in a heartbeat!

Like our wedding day,
or the day X was born,
or my final days of high school, or the national cheerleading competition that I competed in my freshman year.
Any of those days I would relive.
They are all truly amazing times!

But as I write this I find myself being a tad bit selfish in the day I would want to relive.
It is a day before X.
Before Mic. Before high school.
And it honestly isn't a specific day.

As a kid I spent my summers, mornings, and sometimes afternoons at my grandparents house.
While my parents worked my brother and I were fed, played with, and entertained by my grandma.
Something so simple as doing dishes, playing Monopoly or Yahtzee, or mixing up a bowl of frosting were beyond fun because I was doing it with my grandma.
So what day would I relive as my groundhog day?
Let's go with a summer day, when I was about 10 years old.
It would be a day where my grandma is sitting on the back patio watching my brother and I play on the slip-n-slide.
A day where there is a container of sun tea sitting on the hot cement brewing to perfection.
A day where I didn't have a care in the world, or want to be anywhere else than exactly where I was.
A day spent at my Grandma Cook's house :)

As I am in a full blown ugly cry I realize I have no photos to post of me and my grandma :(
I didn't realize this post was going to go this way before I started typing.
Not sure that I actually have any at my house either.
Either way, my grandma was so much fun and I would love to relive a day with her.

Unfortunately, she passed away when I was a junior in high school so Mic and X never got to meet one of the amazing women who helped shape and mold me into the person I am today.
I pray every day that I can be half the grandma (someday) that see was to me :)

What day in your life would you choose to relive over and over again?
