2015 Goals | Making it a Me year

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

So this might sound a little selfish at first, but I have decided to make this a me year.
I briefly mentioned the idea here when I talked about turning 36 recently.
Now before you start jumping to conclusions and judging me for saying that knowing that I am a wife and mom hear me out.
When I started this blog I was in a rough spot :(
This little piece of the internet and all of you helped me get past that.
Thank you!!!

But as time goes on, we tend to forget about us.
You do laundry, pack lunches, make dinner, etc. but forget about taking care of ourselves.
At least I have for these last few months :(
Well, that is about to change!
My new planner is going to help with that too!
I am making time to get back to me!

So what does making 2015 a me year mean?

So let's dive into those answers of mine shall we?

Working out 3x's a week
We were busy at the office those last few months of year, and then the holidays hit.
Meaning that I had no time to get to a Booty Barre class, or anything else.
The main reason I am making myself find time for this is because I am in such a better mood when I get to workout!
I honestly love working out!
I would take a class, get on the treadmill, try out a new DVD, etc. every single day if I was able to!

Making healthy choices
Mic and I really changed the way we were eating last Spring and we noticed such a difference in how we felt, looked, and moved through the day.
We both want to get back to that!
Again, the holidays hit and we just got busy, had social engagements, etc.
Our meals have been planned and we are getting back to a healthier lifestyle :)

Spending time with X unplugged
I often find myself playing around with my phone while I am playing with X. #mommyfail
Another thing I seem to do rather often (again bad mommy) is offer up the TV or a movie on the tablet so I can make dinner, load the dishwasher, or start a load of laundry.
I need to be more present with X.
I think both of us will benefit from this :)

Making date nights a priority
I can't say that Mic and I went on too many "date nights" before having X, but now that we have him we really need to.
Yes, we work all day long together and then see each other at home...but we need to be able to have fun together every now and then as well!
While I would love to schedule a date night once a month, I am hoping for at least every other month this year.
I love that guy and truly enjoy spending time with him :)

Taking Sunday family drives
While I am sure this won't be a weekly thing (the weather can get pretty bad in Ohio in the winter months), I would love to get back to this.
Mic and I used to go for drives all the time when we were dating and even after we got married.
I grew up doing this as well and absolutely loved it!
I don't care if we don't have a set place we are driving to, I just love the bond that is created and the memories made on those trips.
Pack some snacks and drinks and you are all set for a picnic lunch right in your car!

Enjoying a glass of wine, just because
Since my birthday I have drank more wine that I probably drank all of last year!
OK, maybe not that much, but I have had my share.
It isn't a big glass, but just something to calm me down every now and then.
Some days I have a cup of hot chocolate with extra whipped cream.
Other days I might have a cold can of Root Beer.
And then there are days where I will swing through Starbucks :)
So when I say wine, what I really mean is...I want to sit back and just enjoy the little things in life.

While this goal didn't make the list above, it still is pretty important to me...
Working on becoming an early riser/morning person
I am such a night owl!
This goal is going to be extremely tough, but I am going to do the best I can at it!
I love getting a good workout in at night and then just falling into a deep sleep afterwards, but I am going to try to change things up and workout in the morning while my guys are still asleep.
I want to run the dishwasher, enjoy a cup of coffee, get lunches together for the 3 of us, write my blog post for the day or days ahead, etc.

Other goals I have for 2015...
Get X's toys organized in a way that makes sense.
Find a good preschool for this coming Fall.
Enroll X in a class or on a team that he is able to expel some of his energy.

My final goal for 2015...

  1. I'm a workout person too. Feel waaaay better after! Morning workouts are the best since you don't have to squeeze it in for the rest of the day!

  8. OH I love your list. I really think I should make this a ME year too! Such a great list. I love working out in the morning, you get your workout in, you're done for the day, you feel better about the whole day just knowing that you're already done with your workout. I can text you every morning when I get up...although that is still 7am for you probably not early enough to get all that you need done...Good luck!

  11. You have some fantastic goals! I like your idea of a "Me" year. When we are happiest with ourselves, we give our best to others. I thought my family was the only one still taking Sunday drives! My parents still drive out to the country and down the back roads just about every weekend. They have found the cutest small town festivals, fairs, and such. Happy New Year!
