Vacation 2016 | Part 1

Wednesday, August 17, 2016

Happy Monday Wednesday!
We are back from our family vacation to Florida!
While the weather wasn't the greatest (lots of rain), we did enjoy ourselves and the time we spent together.
And that's what matters most right?!

WARNING: An insane amount of pictures are coming your way :)

We loaded up the car on a Thursday morning and headed south to our first stop - Louisville!
This kid was super excited for vacation!
So excited that he asked the moment we pulled out of the driveway if we were there yet.
That question was asked more times than I can count over the course of our trip there and back :/

We arrived in Louisville around lunch time.
It was raining on and off, so we picked something fairly close to our hotel that we could walk to.
DISH on market fit the bill for some yummy food and a relaxed atmosphere.
We tried to explore the area as much as we could before the rain came down again.

We loved seeing these horses throughout the town.

I took X's picture next to this decorated cup for fun.
Well, then he thought he needed his picture next to this next one.
We didn't have the heart to tell him it was a recycling bin! lol!

It started to rain a bit, so we ducked in the Louisville visitor's center and snagged a pic with Colonel Sanders!

The Louisville Slugger museum was already closed by the time we made it there, but we did get to check out the shop and look through the windows where they make the bats.

Before dinner we made our way to Toys-R-Us for X to pick out something small to bring with us.
Side note: The Paw Patrol section in this particular store was huge!
I couldn't resist taking X's picture with those pups!

These next pictures are kind of blurry since I was taking them from a moving car, but we loved how the bridge was lit up and changed colors :)

The next morning we headed out EARLY since we had about 10 more hours to go.
Thankfully we stopped at one of my favorite places for lunch to refuel :)

We made it to Miramar Beach, Florida just in time to catch the sunset while we were eating dinner on the deck at Hammerhead's :)
X enjoyed the band that was playing below on the pier :)

The Choctawhatchee Bay was right out our back door of our condo.
Out of all the buildings at the Sandestin resort, The Grand Sandestin was my favorite!

Saturday morning we walked a short distance from our condo into the shops and restaurants at Baytowne Wharf, and enjoyed breakfast at Another Broken Egg Cafe.
This mimosa was just what I needed to start the day ;)
We checked things out briefly before heading out for a few groceries.

When we got back it was POOL TIME!
This view of the pool and the Grand Sandestin never got old!

We cleaned up and walked around Baytowne some more before heading out to dinner.

And yes, that is my husband riding the rooster on the merry-go-round.
All the other adults stood by their children. lol!

We enjoyed our Italian dinner at La Famiglia at Destin Commons.
Take a look at the size of that pizza!
It was the kid's pizza! It was HUGE!!!
And you can't go wrong with chicken parm :)

On Sunday we headed to the beach!
My pictures on my super old iPhone won't do it justice.
IT.WAS.GORGEOUS!!!!!

That Florida sun is hot!
Especially for us Ohioans who barely ever go outside!
So we cleaned up and headed to The Track for some fun!

We played on the bumper cars and the large go carts as well, but I couldn't take pictures while I was driving :/
We headed inside the arcade to cool off for a moment and officially created a monster.
You will see what I am talking about shortly.

That evening we had dinner at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
A few things you may find interesting about Mic and I:
Mic doesn't care to eat at chain restaurants, especially on vacation.
We have never ate at a Bubba Gump's before.
I have never watched the movie Forest Gump :)

After dinner we headed back to Baytowne Wharf to play more games.
X fell in love with the Jurassic World game at the arcade at Baytowne Wharf!
Over the course of our week there, X and Mic captured a T-Rex, Triceratops, and a Spinosaurus.

And that was the first few days of our trip!
I will be back tomorrow with Part 2 :)
