My 1st Blate

Monday, February 10, 2014

This weekend was filled with lots TV watching (mainly the Olympics), way too much snow to comprehend, colds for all three of us - yuck!, and my very first blate!
The snow and sickness kept us home Friday and Sunday, but we filled it with watching the opening ceremonies, figure skating, snow boarding, and more. While I can't say I get into the Olympics the way I did as a kid, I definitely feel it pull on my heartstrings....seeing Sage Kotsenburg win gold and Hannah Kearney falling to bronze actually brought a tear to my eye.
I guess the Olympics really brings out my USA pride :)

Moving on...

I had the pleasure of being invited to a blogger meet-up for Cleveland area mom bloggers. It is always nice to be included as a Cleveland girl since I haven't lived up there in 10 years!
We met for brunch (my first) at the Flying Fig in Cleveland. It is located just right down the road from the West Side Market. Meaning...parking was rough! Thankfully I arrived a little early and was able to score a spot in a nearby parking lot right before it filled up. To be honest, I was so nervous! I didn't know what to expect. All of the ladies were super nice and very easy to talk to. It it was nice to find a few other bloggers who haven't been doing this very long as well. I had a great time getting to know each of the ladies a little better and had some good food while doing so :) Kristin from My Cleveland Mom even brought us all a sweet treat to take with us :)

Afterwards, a few us walked over to the market to walk around and check out the goods. I seriously haven't been there in a good 20 years! I remember being there for a middle school field trip! Wow! That was a long time ago! It was neat to take it in like it was my first time there. We walked into the produce area first and immediately we were being bombarded by people trying to get us to buy there "product". We were pretty much all on the same mission... Sweets! We did make a stop at the Pierogi Palace first where I picked up some pretty good cabbage and noodles. (Mic actually said he likes mine better! I do too actually!)

We walked around a bit more before finding THE stop for all things sweet and yummy! Campbell's had trays of chocolate covered goodies and flavored popcorn. I had to pick up a few buckeyes and this super adorable Oreo cookie that matched X's hat!
I mean, how could I not?
And look at how cute he is eating it!

We parted ways soon after that and headed home before the snow began to fall.
Side note: If you can, avoid West 25th in Cleveland! I literally almost lost my car numerous times in the massive and multiple pot holes!

Can't wait for the next get together with these ladies!
And truly looking forward to planning a couple more blates in the Columbus or Cleveland area with more of you!

The rest of our weekend looked like the following...

I normally don't complain about the weather, but this is starting to get a little old :(
It is pretty, but old!

How was your weekend?
How are you coping with this weather?
Do you have big plans for Valentine's Day?

    1. Sorry to hear that! Funny thing is I lived up there for 25 years and only went a few times. Now that I am an adult/taking care of buying the groceries I wish I had something like this near me! I unfortunately live about 1 1/2 hours south of there :(

  7. Cutest cookie ever and those noodles look delish! However, as a Pittsburgh lover, I'm not sure I could ever stomach a visit to Cleveland. haha jk. Looks like an awesome time and I hope very badly that this is the last of the snow, though I highly doubt it.
