Healthy Life - Valentine's Day Edition

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Just because it is Valentine's Day doesn't mean you have to eat a bunch of high calorie foods, over indulge in sweets, or spend a lot of money on a fancy restaurant.
Here are a few skinny recipes that you can make at home for your whole family :)

Since I am not a seafood fan, we tend to visit Italian restaurants or steakhouses of some sort when we are able to go out to dinner. One of my favorite dishes to order is Chicken Parmesan, but it can be loaded with calories.
Here is a lighter version I found on Martha Stewart's site.

Or if we are feeling like a nice dose of red meat (who am I kidding, we are always in the mood for red meat!), this recipe below for Filet Mignon with Fresh Herb & Garlic Rub from Cooking Light is sure to satisfy my little family :)

And since we are heading down the garlic path, I would totally pair that steak with these Garlic Fries from bon appetit.

No holiday meal is complete without dessert!
How about some super festive and yummy Strawberry Cool Whip Cookies from Skinnymom?

Be sure to check out my Valentine Treats post here for more ideas to celebrate the day of love :)

We will be enjoying our delicious dinner at home on Saturday night since we have some fun, but unusual plans for Friday evening. Can't wait to share what we are doing with you next week!

Are you ready for Valentine's Day?
Do you go out to eat or make a special meal at home?
Do you share gifts with your spouse or significant other?

Sometimes we go out to eat, but the past few years we've done Vday in and I love it. Last year I cooked so this year Jared is in charge of dinner- yay! :)
