Affordable Style 2019 | Accessories

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

While it is technically Spring here in Ohio, Mother Nature hasn't completely jumped on board.
Some days I am wearing sandals and shorts, and the very next day I have on boots and a sweater 😕
But that doesn't mean I'm not thinking Spring/Summer.
I found some accessories that you could add to your closet right now despite what the weather forecast is showing.
And even better....they are super affordable!

This fun straw tote would be perfect to carry from now until the end of the summer.
And that colorful tassel is guaranteed to add a bit of sunshine to your day 🌞
The best part is that is under $20!!!

Hats are all the rage this Spring and Summer!
These beauties are great for the sunnier days now, and for hitting the beach this summer.
Can't decide which color would be best?
You don't have to!
These are just $12 for all 3!!

What better way to bring a smile to your face while you are waiting for the temps to rise than some rainbow sunglasses? 🌈
You can't beat that price tag either!

Layered coin/disc/plate necklaces are all over the place.
This disc and plate combo necklace is perfect for those of you who worry about how to pair multiple necklaces together.
Such a great trendy piece for under $20.

And while these aren't technically an accessory, I couldn't help but include them.
Birkenstock sandals are everywhere this year!
You can wear them now with jeans and then shorts or a casual dress when the temps go up.
These white ones will go with just about everything in your closet!

Do you have any of these items in your accessory collection yet?
Which trends are you looking forward to rockin' this Spring/Summer?
Where do shop for affordable trendy accessories?

Wishing you all a Sunshiny Day!

How We...Transitioning Our Wardrobes

Wednesday, May 9, 2018

Joining Shay & Erika for their monthly How We....Series today.

Today's topic is Transitioning Our Wardrobes.
Honestly, I really don't change much from season to season.
I have lived in Ohio my entire life (with the exception of two months where I tested the waters in Florida - long story),
so I know that Mother Nature can easily give us all four seasons within the same week.
Sometimes we may even experience them in the same day!

With that said, all my clothing/shoes/etc. stay available in my closet throughout the entire year.
That doesn't mean I wear it all.
Once the temps stay consistently in the 50's I break out the sandals and lightweight jackets.
These Vince Camuto booties (I have the Target dupe not available) are currently on sale for less than $90!

I work in AC all day, so I still need layers to keep me warm.
Some days I may wear a lighter weight sweater, and other days I might through on a sleeveless dress shirt and my trusty denim jacket.

The only other item I start wearing more of is shorts.
JCrew Factory Chino Shorts are my favorites and they are on sale right now for $16.50!!!!

I still wear jeans and dress pants year round, but on the super warm days I rock shorts as soon as I get home from work.

And that is it!
So if you are someone who loves wearing sweaters/cute jackets or would really like to get a lot of use out of your entire closet...I suggest moving to Ohio!
It really is nice here :)
And we could totally hang out then ;)

Affordable Trends | May

Wednesday, May 2, 2018

When it comes to fashion, it needs to be affordable in my book.
Would I love to buy some of those pricey items from time to time..sure!
But, I would also like to feed my family for the month.
Or drive to work and such instead of trying to walk there ;)
So I headed online to a couple of my favorite affordable retailers to bring you some On Trend items for Spring that won't break the bank!
I also tend to look for pieces that I can add to what I already have in my closet.

Who doesn't love a shift dress?
This striped one is super cute and would work well with most body types.
Currently on sale for $28 and comes in 3 other colors.

And how adorable are these gingham sandals???
They come in a chambray stripe option as well.

Or check out these gingham wedges!

Every girl/women (heck boys & guys too) need a denim jacket in their closet!
This one is super similar to one I already have in my closet!
And trust me when I say that the light wash will go with almost everything you own!

Want something a little less structured?
Old Navy has you covered there too!
Check out this denim button front jacket.

Not a fan of those gingham sandals above?
Check out this similar style in a solid (available in 4 colors).

While we are talking about sandals, look at this cross strap style available in 5 colors.
They are on sale for $15 right now!

I am not typically a fan of kimono's, but I really like this one.
Pay no attention to how horribly styled it is in this picture :/
Available in plus size as well.

I am always a fan of a fun pant!
These floral ones could be paired with a simple white tank or top and denim jacket.

Florals typically aren't my thing (it doesn't appear that way from this post), but I really like this off the shoulder romper right now too :)
This picture makes it look blue, but online it is listed as "mint".
It comes in a rose color as well.

This one looks cute as well!
Providing coverage in all the right places ;)

I love the look of these sandals available in black and the cognac below.

These are available in 4 colors and currently on clearance between $10-16.
So simple, yet I feel they bring a little something something to an outfit.

Shopping Haul | Target & SHEIN

Wednesday, March 7, 2018

I recently ordered some new pieces from Target and Shein and they arrived last week.
Target was running a special online for buy one swimwear piece, get one for 50% off.
So despite not remotely being in swimsuit shape I ordered a few to try out.
Honestly, I figured if I felt OK in one of the new ones I picked up I would have some hope for myself when I hit the beach in June :/
One shoulder bikini top in olive and black

All of the pieces are mix and match which is great in my opinion!
Clothing shopping is hard as it is, and swimsuit shopping is even worse :(
But getting to pick tops and bottoms in different sizes make me like it a bit more :)

At the end of the day I am keeping the keyhole top and black bottoms.
I liked the olive suit, but the top isn't as adjustable as I would like it to be.
Same goes for the bandeau style top.

So on the bright side I have a suit I am comfortable in now!
That doesn't mean I am going to stop eating healthy and working out!

Countdown to the beach  - 15 weeks!

Did you pick up any new swimsuits from the Target sale?
Any other shops?
I would love to hear what you have scored in the comments below!

If you follow Jen (why wouldn't you?), you saw that she recently tried out some clothing from Shein.
I also decided to give Shein a try.
The prices are amazing, but you definitely have to read a lot of reviews to figure out if the item is worth it or not.
And even then you might still order a dud :(
So here is what I selected...
This Leaf Print Dress is super cute, but a bit see-through :(
The size was a bit more fitted than I would like, and I didn't like the short ruffle sleeves on me.
Sending it back

I see similar tops to this Grid Top all over the place and love them, but never spend the money.
So I decided to give this one a try for the price.
It fits fine, but again is a little more sheer than I would like.
I don't want to have to wear a cami with it every time I wear it, and this definitely requires that.
Sending it back

I totally went out on a limb with these Ruffle Waist Shorts.
I am a curvy girl.
Higher waist things don't always look that good on my shape.
While the fit is fine on these, the style does make me look bigger than I am (nobody wants that!).
Sending them back

I had hopes for this Lace Knit Sweater but it is huge, not soft at all, and hangs really weird :(
Sending it back

I am not a ruffle girl/girly girl at all!
But this Ruffle sleeve top was cheap and is kind of trendy without be crazy.
And you all know I love navy!
It is pretty sheer, but the reviews stated that so I knew that ahead of time.
It is shorter than I anticipated though...think crop style :/
(this 39 year tummy isn't sure about that)
But I am decided to give it a try for the price.
I think it will look super cute with shorts this summer :)

I tried it on a couple more times before submitting my return and decided to send it back as well.

I will definitely give Shein another try in the future.
Those prices are great, and shipping from China only took a week to get to me (My order didn't qualify for faster shipping).

A couple things to remember if you decide to order from Shein...

Read the reviews! Read A LOT OF THEM!!!

Check the size chart, find your size, and I personally would suggest ordering up a size. In my opinion these are juniors sizing.

Remember these are not designer quality pieces.
Most the items in my opinion are for trying out a new trend without the hefty price tag.

Have you ordered any items from Shein before?
I would love for you to share your experience below :)

On Trend with Old Navy

Thursday, February 22, 2018

I was scrolling online at Old Navy and decided to click on the "On Trend" option to see what items popped up.
Remember, I am not one for things that are too terribly trendy.
I like to stick to the classics.
Plus, I am cheap!
So I need the clothing items I purchase to span from work to play as much as possible.
A lot of the items I came across are classic pieces which kind of surprised me.

**Disclosure**
These are just the items I thought were cute.
I am not being paid or reimbursed or working with Old Navy on this post.
But if you are reading Old Navy...I would love to work with you ;)

The first item that jumped out at me is this navy striped cardigan.
It looks like such a great year round piece really.
I could easily see myself wearing it to work, with jeans, and even shorts in the Spring/Summer.
It also comes in this gorgeous orange shade as well!!!
<Insert all the heart eye emojis>

This striped top just screams my name!
I feel like I could throw it on with some shorts and a hat and enjoy a day on some one's boat :)
Anyone have a boat I could join you on?

I have a serious love for all things Navy in the Spring time.
This sueded crossbody bag is adorable!

It really shouldn't be any surprise that I would pick a jacket ;)
Especially a moto jacket!
In Navy ;)
It actually comes in a wide variety of other colors as well :)

I am not typically a jumpsuit/romper person, but this just looks so comfortable!
And it could easily be dressed up or down :)

While I do like to wear dresses more in the Spring/Summer, I am not a fan of floral print.
This dress seems to suck me in regardless of the print.
Again, a great piece that I could wear to work or for fun :)

These jeans look so comfy to me!
Yes, I said jeans and comfy in the same sentence.
You know I would take a pair of jeans any day of the week over leggings/yoga pants!
And that splattered paint detail sucks me right in too!

I am loving the fact that we are slowly moving away from skinny jeans.
<And all the big bottom/curvy girls said AMEN!>
These cropped flares with the cut hem are so stinkin' cute!

I haven't spent money on workout clothes in awhile!
Mainly because I workout at home so nobody sees me.
But these mesh panel crops are making me think I need to up my game.
And maybe even take a class outside of the house every now and then ;)

Have you checked out Old Navy recently?
What are some of your favorite items they are offering?
