Just Rambling...

Thursday, October 24, 2019

Today I am taking a break from the home updates and inspiration posts.
Today I am just rambling about the things that keep me up at night.

Did you ever notice you tend to take on the personality traits or mannerisms of the company you keep?
You better chose wisely about who you spend time with, because they can really influence your thoughts, actions, etc.

We are all technically responsible for ourselves.
But I feel that if you are around someone for quite some time you can start to think, act, and talk like them.
You may even start comparing your life to theirs.

Don't do it friends!
It is a dark, dark place from what I'm told.

I'm not really sure if it was something I was taught as a child, or something that just has always been in me.
I don't really understand jealousy.
I don't understand the want to out do someone and rub their nose in it.

I never felt I had any more or less than anyone else as a kid.
As an adult I know that is how life is, but it doesn't faze me.

Why get worked up if someone has a bigger house, a nicer car, a picture perfect spouse, is skinnier/prettier, etc.?

Why are so many people focused on the haves and have nots?

Why does it matter what religion you are or political party you side with?

None of these things mattered to you as a kid...so why do you let that control you now?

I try to keep things light hearted around here, but these kind of things just eat at me as I scroll through social media or just talk to friends.

What prompted me to share this with you all instead of letting it just stay inside my head?

I was flipping through the channels on TV the other night and I came across It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!
I remember every year as a kid being so excited when the holiday episodes of cartoons and such would air on TV.
I am still happy to see them come on each year.
As I sat there and casually watched this cartoon for what felt like the millionth time in my life I listened to the words.

This part (minus the pumpkin) is what I have been saying my entire life.

Enough rambling for one day.
I appreciate you all just letting me be myself and speak what I feel.

See you back here tomorrow for Friday Favorites :)

XOXO ~ Vanessa

39

Saturday, December 16, 2017

Today is my 39th Birthday.

There is a part of me that thinks that is just absolutely crazy that I am already 39!
There is another part of me that feels like I am 80 some days! lol!

I know age is "just a number".
But 39 is still "up there" in my world.
Not as "up there" as I used to think though.

So in honor of my 39 years here on earth, I decided to post 39 things about myself that you may or may not know.

39. My favorite number is 6.
38. I prefer going to a bar vs. a house party.
37. I like to go/do vs. being at home.
36. I don't like to watch movies. I don't like to sit still that long.
35. I work better when I am under pressure.
34. I am constantly rushing to get somewhere, but I still typically arrive early.
33. I am not a fan of binge watching anything.

31. I am a steak and potato girl all the way.
30. I could live on McDonald's french fries if I had to ;)
29. I love singing karaoke but haven't done it in years.
28. If I don't have nail polish on my nails I bite them down to stubs.
27. I am afraid to try something I have never done before in fear I won't be good at it.
26. I prefer jeans over leggings any day of the week.
25. Bangs are not for me...I can't stand hair in my face.
24. Actually, short hair isn't for me either. I must be able to have a messy bun at any moment of the day.
23. Starbucks' Caramel Brulee' Latte is liquid heaven to me.
22. I get embarrassed really easily.
21. I have a really good memory.
20. But that also means I can't forget things I would like to forget.
19. I don't get jealous about anything, unless you are flirting with my husband.
18. If I am at home I like to watch the (football, baseball, basketball, etc.) game and hear the commentators.
17. I love to dance any chance I get.
16. I prefer baking over cooking because everything has to be precise.
15. I take things way too seriously.
14. Instagram is my favorite form of social media.
13. I am not a fan of anything made by Apple.
12. I absolutely love sports, but I can't stand the smell of outside.
11. I wear Vanilla Noel from Bath and Body Works year round.
10. I don't like perfume because all I can smell is the alcohol in it.
9. I whiten my teeth my swishing coconut oil in my mouth every morning.
8. I don't actually have a best friend.
7. I used to despise Chipotle and Japanese Steakhouses, and now they are my favorite places to go.

TBB Asks | I Answer

Monday, August 7, 2017

Linking up with The Blended Blog today for a fun little question and answer session :)

1. Pool, lake or ocean?
Swim in a pool, fish in a lake, and chill on a balcony with a cold drink in my hand looking out at the ocean :)

2. Camping, cottage or hotel?
Camping only in a motor home,
cottages usually are too old and musky smelling,
hotel wins every time!

3. Favorite ice cream flavor?
Give me the most Plain Jane chocolate you have in a sugar cone please!
And don't even bother with that soft serve stuff.

4. PJ's, Nightgown, T-Shirt/Shorts or Birthday Suit?
T-shirt and shorts or yoga pants in the winter months

5. Fave Summer Beverage?
Alcoholic - Strawberry Daiquiri, Non-Alcoholic - Sweet Tea no lemon

6. Would you rather be hot or cold?
At the moment Cold since we don't have AC in our house.
Ask me again in a few months and I will probably say Hot since we don't have a furnace in our house either.

7. Sandals with heels or flats?
Heels

8. Shorts or skirts?
Shorts all the way!
I have heard other women say they like skirts or dresses in the hot summer months, and I couldn't be more opposite!
I can't stand to feel my legs touch together on a hot day!

9. Sit in the sun or the shade?
If there is a pool around I always want to be out in the sun because I am in need of a tan.
No pool, I typically move to the shade when I can't stand the sun any longer.

10. Water, tea or soda pop?
I like tea and pop (please don't call it soda), but I guzzle water like it is my job most days!

11. Fave summer fruit, vegetable?
Watermelon and corn on the cob

12. Sunrise or sunset?
I do not like mornings at all, so sunset it is!

13. Bike ride or walk?
Walk

14. Winery or brewery?
Is neither an option?
I prefer cocktails over beer and wine :)

15. Garden or no garden?
No garden
Actually I don't like anything green.
Trees, grass, plants, flowers, etc.
I think I was meant to live in an apartment or something instead of a house in the woods.

16. Big summer concert or music in the park?
Summer concert!
Actually give me all the live music!
Bars, parks, concerts, etc.

17. Fave cookout food?
Just about anything BBQ is perfect in my opinion!

18. Dine indoors or patio?
Indoors because I can't stand to be pestered by bugs or wind while I am eating.
But if were are just having drinks, I will take the patio because I love the setting and most the time there is live music :)

19. Fave summer destination?
Send me to just about any beach and I am a happy camper :)

20. Big theme park or local carnival?
Theme park for sure...have you heard of Cedar Point?
However, these days the only places I go are local carnivals.

21. Drinks blended or on the rocks?
Blended, but on the rocks is a close second

22. Popsicle or freeze flavor of choice?
I am addicted to the Strawberry Outshine bars these days,
but as a kid I would only eat the grape or orange Popsicles and freeze pops.

23. Hot dog or hamburger?
Hot Dog with ketchup please :)
Even better if you split it in half and serve it on a toasted bun!

Tuesday Talk | A bunch of random

Linking up with Ashley & Erika for...

Today's post is a bunch of randomness!

What are your typical holiday meals?
Say, Easter - Thanksgiving - Christmas
I know everyone is different, but I don't know how to breakaway from the traditional foods of those holidays.
So when I go places and they aren't serving a traditional meal it just drives me nuts!
So what do you eat/make?
I know some cultures are different, and that is totally fine with me.
But I am just curious.

Speaking of food, I mentioned this question on my Show & Tell Prom post and I figured I would ask again here.
Did you eat dinner at prom?
This is always a big discussion at our house because where Mic went to school he did not eat at prom.
They went out to dinner before and then went to the dance at some hall or outside location from the school.
Actually, most of the schools around here are that way.
My prom and most of the ones around my hometown were the exact opposite.
Prom was a big deal.
So you dressed up more than a homecoming dance.
You purchased tickets in advance.
It was open to juniors and seniors only, unless you were the date of one of those students.
Guys wore tuxes.
Some people rode in limos.
And you ate your dinner at prom!
It was a full evening of dinner and dancing.
So adult-like for high school.

What are your favorite no-show sock brands?
I am looking for ones that don't stretch out after just a couple of wears.
Not too bulky or thick.
And comfortable.
Over the years I have bought name brand socks and store brands and they are all over the place.
I used to buy all my sports socks from Old Navy years ago and they were the best!
They changed how they were made and I don't like them at all now :(

That is all for today folks!
Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday :)
