Summer Vacation 2019 Part 1

Tuesday, July 30, 2019

Rewind a couple weeks back and we packed up the car and headed south for a week to South Carolina!
Despite his face, we were all excited to get out of our normal routine and such for a week of relaxation at the beach/pool.

Of course I had to kick off our road trip with a little Carrie Underwood :)

And are you really on vacation if you don't stop at Chick-fil-A for lunch?

We drove through a whole lot of rain storms, but we were happy because we were on vacation!

Despite our later start time (about 10am) and all that rain, we arrived in South Carolina for around 7pm Thursday evening.
We typically take two days to travel south so we don't have to be in the car for 11+ hours in one day.
Since we made it so far, we were only 3 hours away from our final destination :)
We grabbed a hotel and dinner and then got some rest.

The next morning we hopped in the car and headed to Beaufort, South Carolina.
We booked a room at the Beaufort Inn for Friday night, but it wasn't quite ready when we arrived so we sat down for lunch and a much needed adult beverage at Hearth Wood Fired Pizza :)

Side note: These are now my drink of choice!
Taste good and only 100 calories!

We absolutely loved the grounds and all the little homes at The Beaufort Inn.

And the Spanish moss on the trees! 😍😍
This was just outside the balcony of our room.

This place was even X approved ;)

And what a gorgeous place to stay and host your wedding!

We chilled (literally) in our room for bit before walking down to the water for the Beaufort Water Festival fireworks show.

We walked up right before they started and scored a prime spot right by the water.
It was perfect!

I'm a sucker for fireworks!

We slept great!
We got dressed for the day and headed to get some breakfast.
The Inn doesn't have their own restaurant, but you are given vouchers for breakfast at your choice of three different local spots.
So cool!

We picked the Blackstone's Cafe and everything was really good!
It was really a neat place with all the flags they have acquired from quests over the years.

This Toasted Marshmallow Mocha Latte was so YUMMY!

The water festival went on for the entire week we were in the area, but we decided to check it out after breakfast before heading over to our beach house for the week.
They had all kinds of events, races, etc. going on.
What a fun festival if you are in the area!

We then headed out to the Sea Islands where we would be staying for the week.
Since our house wasn't quite ready, we decided to stop by the Hunting Island State Park and beach.
It was unlike anything I had ever seen!
Trees at the beach?

It was really neat, but strange to me at the same time.
Our visit was cut short because we got the call that our house was ready for us!
YAY!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our trip on Thursday :)

XOXO ~ Vanessa
