Let's Look | Easter

Today I'm linking up with Shay & Erika for their monthly Let's Look series.

The theme for today is Easter!

This year we don't have any plans for Easter, but I figured I share some photos from the past today.

Let's kick things off with some throwback photos :)

This was X's first Easter in 2012!

We took him up north to visit with my family and get the traditional photo with the Easter basket :)

And here is our sweet boy getting his first Easter basket!

All that candy went to his parents ;)

But he still has that big chick/duck! lol!

2013

Another year, another picture with the basket!

How is this only one year from the last picture?

In 2014, X received a super fun gift from the Easter bunny!
From the pictures below, I think he liked it ;)



2015
We had a wedding to attend, so my dad brought him to the basket :)



This was also the last year he was interested in coloring eggs :(
He was 4!



We weren't able to make it up north in 2016 :(
But I don't think that bothered this guy one bit! lol!



He is the KING of cheesy faces and pictures!





My mom did snap a picture of the basket that year, so I added X to the photo. lol!



2017
My mom brought X to the basket and he was joined by my niece for the first time!



Unfortunately, we haven't been able to make it up to the basket since then due to sports schedules every year.
And now with him being 8 years old, I think our time may have passed. :(

Do you have a certain tradition at Easter?

How about your meal?
I am super traditional when it comes to my Easter meal.
I must have ham!
However, that is a struggle some years because that is not what my MIL likes to have.

Since we don't have plans this year I think I will be serving some ham, potatoes, and green beans.
Super simple :)

Last Minute Easter Basket Ideas

Raise your hand if you child doesn't like candy, but loves all things Fortnite...✋

Besides gummy bears, X isn't a fan of candy or chocolate.

Which makes Easter a bit more challenging.

One thing he does love is Fortnite!

I stopped in Target and Walmart this past weekend and found some things that will leave him flossing the rest of the day once he finds his loot 😄

From Fortnite pajamas to fun graphic tees, Target had exactly what I needed.

X got this version of monopoly for Christmas, but it would be great for Easter as well.

It's the perfect way to pull your kids away from video games without them realizing they are doing so ;)

Throw together a beach bag with some new sandals, beach towel, new swimsuit, sunglasses, etc.

Or how about a new DVD, some coloring books and crayons or books, a personalized plate, or some summer clothing?

Or if your kiddo has a birthday in the cold winter months, splurge and get them a bounce house 😜

Non-Candy Easter Basket Ideas

With Easter just a little over a week away I thought I would share some basket ideas for the kiddos.

Yes, I probably have a better idea of what the little boys want (or at least my little guy) but I will give you a few ideas for the girls too.
And nothing involves candy!!!

Honestly, I will probably throw some small candy type thing in X's basket.
He doesn't like chocolate though, so the typical chocolate bunny is out :(

Toys are an easy to-go for X's basket.
Right now all he is talking about are the Nerf guns he sees commercials for.

This Nerf Zombie Double Strike is under $10 and would easily fit into a basket.

And you might as well grab some extra bullets to throw in there as well :)

Another item that X and all his friends love are Beyblades!
He has collected quite a few, so a carrying case would be a great idea as well.

Pokemon Cards are a super easy option as well for boys or girls.
The kids in Kindergarten are all obsessed with these!

These tins are under $15 and come with quite a few cards in them.

Honestly, after buying so many Pokemon cards over the last 6 months, I would say these are the best value if you are buying some for the kiddos in your life.

Throw in a sketch pad so they have a book to carry with them instead of loose sheets of paper.

A friend of mine recently said her daughter is super into Squishies.
I had never heard of them before, but she said that is all she wants these days!

And last, but not least new sporting goods equipment would be a great idea.

With baseball/softball, golf, soccer, etc. coming up and those kiddos constantly growing, it might be time to upgrade their gear.

I wish the Youth Baseball/Softball Bag I had looked this cool when I had to carry one!

This one is pretty cool in camo, but comes in other colors as well.

Investing in a good Softball Glove (or baseball glove) is a good idea if your kiddo is playing.

They don't grow out of these nearly as quickly as shoes.

This is the exact Golf Set X got for his birthday and it is great for someone just starting to play.

The clubs are adjustable, so they are perfect as he is growing like a weed right now.

And the cost is perfect if he decides to give it up to focus on other sports.

Unfortunately, that set comes with a couple soft golf balls.

So grab a dozen for under $6 to hit around the yard or at your local driving range.

I still remember some of my Easter baskets from when I was a kid.
In my younger years I loved when I would see a new Barbie in my basket.
Later years I truly enjoyed getting a new CD or shorts :)
